My EDD is Friday, 10/16. . . . Can't wait to officially join the other thread - though I don't know if I'll be able to leave this one (I know I won't be able to until all the frequent posters here make it on over to the "other" thread too).
I haven't even really checked in on the other thread yet! I just keep lurking over here. Need to stop in there soon though!

Hello everyone!

Sorry it has taken so long to post!

But we finally have a baby GIRL!!!

Klarabelle Noelle was born on Thursday October 8 at 6:10 pm weighing in at 8 pounds 14 ounces and was 21 inches long!

It was a LONG process. I went in for the cydotec on Tuesday and was in the hospital until Saturday. I was pretty close to a c-section a couple of times but things ended up okay!

I will explain try to get pictures up soon!
Congrats! We can't wait for pictures and details! Blessings!

I went in on Friday for my first real OB appointment since being released from the RE. It was long, and they took a lot of blood. I actually let them take an extra for a thyroid research study (and got a $10 Target card for it-good deal since they were already taking blood). It was nice to do another ultrasound. The baby definitely had a very defined face! It was cool, and unbelievable since we were only 10 weeks. Only 1 appointment, then the next is gender. It's coming up quickly!

We're 11 weeks today. I'm so in shock over all of this!
I am so excited for you guys!

Congratulations!!!! Can't wait to see pictures!!! and what a great name :goodvibes

We found out today that we are having a girl!! princess: I have been thinking that it is a boy so when she said that it was a girl I burst into tears :rotfl: I'm so excited!!! And we are due March 5th. yay!
Congratulations on your Princess-To-Be!!!!

We are about to head out to go to a lactation consultation. Connor and I are having some major issues latching, and it is getting me really frusterated. Wish us luck!

Thanks - we are super excited. Today I watched the DVD from the ultrasound and cried :rotfl: dang hormones...

Good luck with Connor. I hope the lactation consult goes really well!!

Good luck, that IS frustrating. (And, as you can see, a lot of us stick around here well after our babies are born. ;))

Well, ultrasound #2 is today. Hopefully my lazy little boy will be laying the right way for them to see all of his spine this time. And, hopefully they can determine if my low-lying placenta is correcting itself. I am just excited to see him again!

Good luck on the ultrasound today Tigger!

Linzybrooke - I hope the LC was able to help a bit. I had a lot of nursing issues with my daughter in the beginning and it was frustrating for both of us. I nearly gave up and actually went to exclusive pumping for about 2 weeks, then things got a lot easier and better. Probably cause I was getting used to her and wasn't so nervous about everything like you are in the very beginning.

One of our kittens decided last night to start using the couch as his toilet so I am not at all pleased and now I have to wash the couch cushion. This better not become a habit. I plan to put sticky tape all over the couch to deter the cat and putting out a 2nd litter box so hopefully that works.

Had a false alarm yesterday. . .

Thought my water may have leaked some when I got out of bed in the morning to go to the bathroom. Went to the birth center. The yellow strip thing came out positive, so they thought maybe I was leaking - though she wasn't fully convinced because she felt the bag over the baby's head and no water leaked when she inserted the speculum. They sent DH and I to have some breakfast and come back. We did, I made him go to work because i was having no contractions and knew it would be a long day even if my water was leaking. I walked til noon, only change was from 1 cm to 2 cm. She got there around 2pm (poor guy got a ticket - and the police officer did not care I was in labor - told him his bet bet was to go to court - ugh). They put me on the breast pump for a couple hours (10 minute son, 10 minute soff) to get contractions going - and it did. I was getting them about every 10 minutes when I was doing the pumping (and was excited to see my body is already producing colostrum). But they weren't strong. She was till not convinced that the water brok at all, because labor will usually start within 6 hours on it's own. They did the fern test (some test where they look at some cells from the cervix under the microscope) and it came back negative for amniotic fluid, so we got sent home and were schedule for a 1pm biophysical exam on the baby today (more for my own piece of mind). Our families pressured us (they HATE the birth center route we have chosen) and we went into the hospital around 8pm last night (we stopped by the house between teh birth center and the hospital because I just wanted a shower and to change my clothes). Went to L&D - they monitored me and the baby for a little while, then sent me for an ultrasound to check on baby by doing a biophysical and check my amniotic fluid. Baby scored 8/8 on the biophysical and amniotic fluid should be between 5 and 20 (or so I was told) and mine was 17 - ultrasound tech was actually surprised it was as high as it is at 39 weeks 5 days. He said 9 or 10 was what he would expect (DH and I are convinced it is because of the amount of water I drink). Contractions did show up on the monitor, but they were not consistent in length or the time in between. There was no reason for them to keep us, so we went home - got home a little before 11pm - VERY long day (left the house around 6:30 am). We ate a light "dinner" - I had Eggo waffles, DH had some frozen chicken nuggets and we went to bed soon after (around 12:30). My poor DH was up at 6:30 for work - and he works super long hours today - he won't be leaving work until 9pm!!! Thankfully tomorrow he will only work until 1pm, and we have our 40 week appointment then.

I am having a huge struggle with where to deliver the baby right now. DH and I LOVE the birth center and our midwives there - but our families are really pressuring me/us not to have the baby there. They think it is so backwards and crazy (even though the hospital is only 2.72 miles from door to door). They have all these what if emergency scenarios and are really concerned. It is really weighing on me. I'm going to have a good long discussion with the midwife tomorrow (If I make it that far). Been having some contractions today - though not terrible or debilitating (I'm having one as I type this). Your thoughts and prayers to make the right decisions would be very much appreciated.

Adi, I think you need to do what feels comfortable and right for YOU, not your family. I definitely understand wanting to take their feelings into account but you are the one having the baby, not them. It doesn't really matter if they're uncomfortable with you delivering at a birthing center...if you feel that is the right choice for you then that's all that matters :) And I'm sure all birthing centers have a backup plan in place should anything out of the norm happen with you or the baby so you can tell them that.

Just remember it's about you and that little girl and once she's here I'm sure your family wont even be thinking about WHERE you delivered her...all they'll care about is that you are both healthy and happy :goodvibes

Good luck making a decision!

Adi - Here's my take on it. I totally get your family's concerns about the hospital vs. birthing center. I would probably have some myself having given birth to 2 kids who both had issues surrounding their births. However, if this birthing center is the place you've been going to all of this time, you trust the midwives there, then I really don't see a big reason to switch to the hospital now. Of course there are the what-ifs, but it's not like you will be unattended. Personally, I consider midwives to be perfectly capable of handling deliveries, and you are in a facility, not like you're trying an unassisted home birth. If I were you, and had gone to this birthing center all along, had a good repoire with the staff, I would not want to change.

Now with all that said, if *you* have any concerns at this point, any at all, whether it be from your family or just your own thoughts, then I would use the hospital. If you want an example of where that 2.72 miles would be too far I can gve you one, but I won't otherwise cause there's no reason to scare you. But if you are seriously contemplating it, and want to hear an actual case like your families are thinking of, then just ask.

I'm assuming your midwives can go to the hospital, right? Cause if not, then that would change my view a bit and I'd probably be less likely to switch at this point.

 I hope you dont mind me popping over for this.. But I have just admired you from day one for going the birth center route. I think that is wonderful, and I would NOT let your family influence your decision on this. It is YOUR body, and YOUR baby. The midwives are trained! Its not like you having some guy off the street deliver your baby!

I had SUCH plans for my last pregnancy.. I wanted to use a midwife, and I really wanted a home birth. But having the twins blew that all to hell. So I would totally stick with the birth center.

Soooo. went in for my second ultrasound today. Elliott is still Elliott, and he was proudly displaying his little boy bits as soon as the technician saw him. They were able to see his whole spinal cord this time, so that is a good thing. However, my placenta has not moved. It is still only about 2 centimeters from my cervix. So, I will have another ultrasound in 8 weeks, and if it still hasn't moved up, then we need to decide C-section or try for regular.

I was going to say the same, but Staley said it so much better that I will just say "what she said."

I was hoping to see something from Adi that she went into labor, but I guess maybe not yet. Hopefully you'll have your little girl soon if you haven't already!

My husband spent all day yesterday at his conference, then some dinner with work people and got home at 12:45am. I, otoh, had his nephew's birthday party, then a police picnic (BIL is a policeman), then a school fair. I was exhausted and ate crap so I then got sick, and I still feel pretty ill today and his cousin made dinner reservations somewhere for this evening. Today my husband slept in, and is now at the Saints-Giants game with his dad and brother. I'm a big Giants fan and his family are all Saints fan, so it's quite the game to be in town for.

The kids are having a lot of fun with their cousins though, and I finally got to meet my newest niece, who is 5 months old. She's very cute, and also the chubbiest baby I've ever seen! She's over 19 lbs and my kids were 20 lbs at a year!

Dang, took me forever to find this thread! It was dropped back to page 6!!!

So how is everyone doing? Everything is same old, same old here. Baby is moving like CRAZY!!!!!

Hi everyone.
I'm going for my 1 hour glucose tolerance test tomorrow - but of course my doctor didn't give me any instructions :confused3. I'm supposed to fast for it right? Anyone know how long? (If I just don't eat in the morning before the test will that be okay?) Can I still drink water?
Thanks in advance for any help!

My doctor didn't give me any instructions either, however mine was in the morning so I just didn't eat when I woke up.

What time is yours scheduled for?

Haven't heard from Adi in a few days...Hope everything is ok...maybe she's holding her little one right now!

I was thinking about Adi too! I hope she's okay.

I ended up calling the doctor and I actually got a call back! They told me that there are no restrictions for the 1 hour glucose test, although I read online that eating beforehand can lead to a False Positive which would require you to have the 3 hour glucose test. I didn't make an appointment but the lab right near my doc's office does them, and I was told I don't need an appointment. I'm hoping to be there when they open (7:30) and then going right upstairs to my doctors appointment at 9.
I guess I'll fast anyway since all it means is just pushing off breakfast by about an hour.

I never fasted for my glucose tests, and in fact with my son I went to Starbucks and had a banana coconut frappachino (however you spell that) and muffin right before the test and it was still fine. I asked my dr about it after the fact and he said the only time that would really make a difference is if I were borderline gestational diabetic anyway.

We're flying home today so I need to shower and get moving.

Justthat- Hope you have a safe flight.

I hope everything is ok with Adi!

I just noticed my ticker is on the last box!! SO close!

For the 1 hour test, the doctor told Cathy that she shouldn't eat after ten pm and to only sip water the following morning before the test. The test has a very large percentage of false positives. I wouldn't mess with eating before and having it cause me to need to take the three hour test.

I have my one-hour test next month. The nurse said to just eat as normal, although I shouldn't come in chugging down a large container of chocolate milk....(someone had come in the week before doing that!). I will probably watch what I am eating for a day or so beforehand, as my sugar levels are always near the higher end of where they should be.
