Moms Panel Results!?

I've been thinking, and you guys who still have the interview ahead of you I think one thing is really important. Just like in round 2, the questions maybe subjective. My only suggestion would be think about what it is they are asking you and make sure you answer "the question". (I would hate for you guys to be too nervous and have a "beauty pageant moment":rotfl: ) I believe they will want those on the panel who can answer a persons questions without rambling on and getting sidetracked. I know they had us keep our essays down to 100 words for judging purposes, but they were also looking for those who could express themselves with as few words a possible. My husband teaches college courses on the side and loves reading those short papers that get right to the point. It shows him those students know what it is they are talking about. Just my thoughts, take it for what it's worth.(after all you guys made it past round 2 not me!)

P.S. Heather and Party of 5 I am also a mom of 3 who doesn't leave her kids. However; DH and I last year went to the F&WF without the kids and we just told them we were going to a wine festival. When we got home we brought back goodies and told them, they weren't too mad. Your kids are even smaller, what they don't know won't hurt them:love:

Hi guys..never knew this forum existed in the Disboards family. I've been posting under the DIsney Family forum.

I made it to the final round and have my interview this afternoon.....I'm a nervous wreck and have a headache started and butterflies ALREADY and still have 4 hours to go until the interview.

Thanks for all the wisdom here regarding the final round and good luck to all 26 who've made it this far! I'm truely excited to be in this position and pray that all goes well for everyone!

Also, can someone email me the "certificiate" if that's what it was that you got after the 2nd round. My computer locked up and I got nothing ...so not quite sure what it ws..but I think "ratboy" was emailing them out? my email is violaml@evms.edu.

Thanks again and good luck to everyone,
Marleen

Hi Marleen - glad you found us! Good luck on that interview! Mine is this afternoon and *so far* I'm not nervous, just really REALLY excited.

Marleen,

I just sent you the file. Glad you found our little waiting room. Can you tell we are all nervous wrecks?! :rotfl: Good luck on your interview this afternoon!!!

Hi guys,

Do I have a story for you...

I am so excited for everyone here! I nearly blacked out everything from this weekend as I had so much other stuff going on. So here goes...

I knew I had a really busy weekend and I didn't want to miss the email to possibly make it to round 3. Friday afternoon I had to head out so I set my out of office with my name address and phone number, just in case! I always have a chance to check my email several times a day, but knew this weekend was unique for several reasons and I wouldn't do it.

I didn't hear anything by Friday night so I assumed I didn't make it. I even posted on this board that I was disappointed. I am usually very easy going and frankly happy go lucky and I was suprised at my reaction of sadness. My kids were laughing at me because they told me I totally ROCK and should be proud that I made it to round 2. (For teens, that was quite impressive and made me feel great!)

I still wasn't able to get into my email because I had my husband's computer and that site is blocked, but I could lurk here and see everyone's excitement. I was so proud and excited for all of you and you all seem so wonderful and deserving. I didn't even feel bad anymore for not making it.

Well, Saturday as I headed out the door, I got a call from someone to schedule an interview!!!!!!! I was shocked so I acted like I knew what was going on, but I literally was walking out the door, so I almost forgot as I hadn't done anything to get this call. I didn't even tell anyone at home. (Especially after being fairly pathetic with my family prior). For some reason, it wasn't real. We were on the run the rest of the weekend and I was too busy to think about it and I was in denial.

When I got to work yesterday I had an email from the PR person confirming my appointment. Still, more denial. I didn't even check my home email yet as I was simply too busy and too excited.

I was reading this board all day yesterday while kind of freaking out. I was just so excited for everyone here and you all seem so competent. I thought I would just be better off hiding and lurking.

I smiled so much reading all the pixie dust everyone got and I was really proud of everyone for being so kind to each other even though you were technically against each other.

Well, I had my interview and at the start they asked me if I had rec'd an email because the wrong one was sent to me and they apologized but assured me that they that was a mistake. OMG! Imagine if I had read that!!!!! Well, that flustered me a little because I again, didn't really know what they were talking about. So I kind of said something about my out of office. But I tried to be calm and not nervous and go about my interview. I feel I did a fantastic job of rambling on and on. I am normally an enthusiatic person, but composed, but not yesterday. I did feel better when I read another person talk about how they rambled too. Silly me. So, while in my mind I review what I said, I feel like I said some good things, but I missed a bunch of things I knew I wanted to say. And, I rambled... and rambled... and continued to ramble.

How crazy is that? I have been keeping this inside as I didn't want to jinx myself as I am so darn excited at the possibility of being chosen for something so exciting! Can I just do a little dance? Please? :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Thanks, I feel so much better now.

So, here is a little about me...

My family is me 37, DH38, DS15, DD14, DS12 (13 on Sunday!), DD10, and little DD3. My life is fun, fast paced and I love every minute of it. I am an only child, so having a house full of kids is pure heaven to me!

I finally broke down and told the kids last night and they couldn't even believe it. They were like "of course they picked you mom, you are the biggest Disney Geek ever". It was so cute. So, now I am floating on cloud 9 and trying to figure out how I am going to wait 1 whole week to find out!

My DS15 was so cute, he is so darn practical (he gets that from my husband, not me.) He said "there is nothing you can do about it now mom, it is what it is and you should be proud no matter what".

Thanks for listening and have a great day! :)

AND, good luck to everyone interviewing today! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Pooh Mom - What a great story. I bet you were bursting to tell your kids and everyone about what was happening with the panel. I am amazed you kept it in as long as you did...and all the e-mail and phone confusion...wow...you are going to get on the panel because they feel so bad about messing up your acceptance letter. :woohoo:

For those of you that have already had your interview:

1. Was the call close to your given time?
2. Did it really take up 15 minutes?

I can hardly contain myself!

Hello all --

I have been very rudely lurking here for the past week or so.

I wanted to thank all of you for your charm and grace and humor. I'm sure any one you who gets chosen will make the folks in Orlando very proud indeed. And JoRy -- you should be a therapist, you're amazing at getting people to relax.

So to answer Carolyn's question. My interview started EXACTLY on time. I got the call, was on hold for two minutes, and then off to the races. There were at least six people on my call -- four women and two men. My call lasted only ten minutes. Of course I thought of about eight things I should have said the minute I hung up. (Isn't that always the case.) I am soooo much better in writing than I am on the phone!

Best of luck to the finalists. I wouldn't be surprised to see all of you online in January.

Ditto here,

My call started exactly on time! It did last about 16 minutes I would say. But then again, did I mention the rambling and rambling and rambling I did?

What fun this is...thanks for making this even more fun everyone! :)

I can't even imagine waiting for a whole week by myself! :)

This has been fun! You guys who make it should point this out later to the CM's if nothing else they may get a good laugh out of all of this. After all, I bet they are just as stressed about having to make a decision. Good luck, and let yourselves relax now.

I just finished the interview. It was fun, but glad it is over. I really couldn't sleep last night -- how silly, I know, but I can't control it.

Regarding the comment above, based on one comment I heard during the interview, I'm pretty sure someone from the interview team is reading this thread! Fortunately, I think we are just "playing well with others", and having fun while we wait, wait, wait!!!:goodvibes

Wishes are funny sometimes.... I'm wishing right now for a mistaken email like you got, Poohmomof5, so I can be back in the running. Congratulations!!! Oh, how I would love the chance to interview in Phase 3 and gab all about Disney with them!!!

Good luck to everyone that still has their interview!
-Kristen

I think it's pretty smart of them if they are reading this.:surfweb:

1. It will give them some free feedback about the things that went wrong (some people not receiving an e-mail response) or right.
2. It shows them how passionate we are for all things Disney.

I hope everyone who made it to round 3 is taking copious notes for those who may be selected when the first panel has finished their term.

GO DIS!

Whew..just finished my interview. Now I call tell the butterflies in my stomach to quit fluttering :)!

I "hope" it went well...I'm just honored to be chosen out of 10,000, so I can relax and wait for my phone call next week. Mine started a few minutes earlier than scheduled and lasted about 12 minutes :)!

Good luck to everyone!!!
Marleen

I am still following this and supporting you all! I can't wait to hear the results and about the whole process. The panel has a very difficult decision. You all are so great.

It is so funny reading all of this. I know how I felt making it to round 2 and I can't imagine how you are all feeling in round 3! I didn't know about the word counter in my computer. Just discovered this handy tool. I was over in my words. I just estimated and assumed there was a counter. Well, we all know what happens when one assumes, eh?

I so hope that they have a panel again and again and again. How awesome is this opportunity? My certificate is hanging on the fridge with my kids school work. My oldest is proud of me!

Good luck to the rest that are still waiting for your interviews!

:thumbsup2

Bret,
I'm not sure how the quote goes, or even if there is one, but who is it that helps you through hard times "FRIENDS". No matter how all this turns out, we all feel as though we have made a few friends throughout the process. I would be glad to see any of you make it on the panel "Well, I would have been good also :-)" HA HA! I'm just glad those folks at Disney finally realize what they have been missing out on:cool1: Maybe I will create my own quote in reference to this thread "Those who play together stay together" Who knows maybe there will be another contest!!! I'm up for it:banana:

You know...there are some threads that just seem to work, and this is one of them. I think in a few weeks it is going to be over 200 pages long...it is amazing.

As far as my interview, I was on hold like the others for a few minutes listening to the Disney songs. I hope they did not hear me singing when they picked up...that would get me cut from the group automaticly (is that a word?).

Anyway...they called on my cell phone and according to the counter on it, I was on the phone for 21 minutes. Of course that included my hold time, and all the questions I had for them at the end. And the fact that I ramble. I wanted them to hear all they could from me...but then again, maybe that was not the best thing. Who knows?

Slowly but surely we are getting through all the interviews, and in one week we will know for sure. It is going to be a long week....:hourglass :crazy2:

Oh my. My call is in less than an hour and I was doing good here unil I read poohmom's post. I could just FEEL your excitement and now I'm all excited and nervous too. lol I am giddy like a kid on Christmas Eve. :yay:

EEFOSTER - don't feel rude for lurking...but I'm glad you posted now! Congratulations on making it to the end!

This really IS a nice thread, and I'm really enjoying it and everyone posting here. I don't have enough people IRL that would be this excited with me, so I'm glad I've found you all to share this with. :goodvibes

PS) Am I the only one who didn't get their FedEx papers today? I'm so bummed! They usually come in the morning around 10am and they never came today - the ONE day I have something truly exciting to be delivered!

Another round 2 reject here :wave2: (ha, ha).

Just thought I'd post my 1st round answers...

I am a 33 year old, semi-stay at home mom who works 10 hrs/week from home as a programming consultant.

Disney is in my blood - I have gone as a kid growing up, as a single adult, as a newlywed, as a married couple, as a pregnant mom and as a family with two small children of my own.

My husband even remodeled our kids' bathroom after the Contemporary Resort's, even down to the sink he bought from MouseSurplus and shipped from Orlando!

My husband "Judd" and I were high school sweethearts, having been together for 17 years and married for 9 years. That seems strange to me since we are only 34 and 33 respectively!

We have two small boys, a five year old, Mason, who just started kindergarten this year and a 2 year old named Carter. They already love everything and anything Disney - they certainly are my sons!

Our family on both my husband's side and my side all live in the same vicinity in Lancaster County, PA (close to Hershey, PA).

I am the "go to" person for anyone I know going to Disney. I have provided extensive and detailed planning information for my boss, neighbor, family and friends who were making a trip to "The World", some for the first time and even seasoned Disney nuts.

I have planned several "Magical Gatherings" including a trip in 2003 with my husband's side of the family for 18 people with kids ranging in age from 11 months to 10 years old.

I am constantly told that I need to be a professional travel agent for Disney (a job I would love!).

If anyone is interested, I can post my 2nd round responses too :)

Good luck to everyone with phone interviews this week!! I'm certainly jealous (ha, ha) but am routing for DIS'ers to be on the panel! Sending pixie dust your way! pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:
