Mom & Son-One More Time w/Dad! 11 days of DxDDP-10/21, Grand Finale, FF Chef's Table!

Love your AKL reviews Vicki! I'm sorry that Boma disappointed you! I can understand how confusing it is when you have a poor experience at a beloved restaurant! :lmao: Sometimes things just don't 'click'. But I'm SO glad you had great meals at Sanaa and Jiko! I'll have to try that mango lassi next time I'm at Sanaa. I'm obsessed with the mango margarita but I probably don't even need the alcohol, just give me the mango puree and I'll be fine! :lmao: We too ordered JUST the chai cream for dessert. It's so wonderful!

I'm so so so so so excited to try Jiko next month! Thank you for the wonderful pictures!

Another good review of Jiko! I'm so glad to hear that you had a great meal after Boma. Jiko is number one on my list for our next trip, I've just got to try it! Loving the reviews (of course!!)! :thumbsup2

Ok, I am sorry for the lack of updates! On top of the craziness of this week, I am pretty sure I am getting sick. This morning I got up and promised myself I would do an update today and I am just not up for it.

Please forgive me ... tons of pics to come, I promise!

Take care of yourself!! We understand!!

Just popping in to say THANK YOU for the chocolate bread pudding recommendation at Ralph Brennan's at Disneyland. It was bliss on a plate. Four of us split two and we couldn't finish -- it was so rich.

So sorry you are not feeling well.... no worries. We'll be here when you feel better. :goodvibes

Sorry to hear you were not feeling well yesterday, Vicki. :worried: Hope you are much better today! :)

Thank you all for the well wishes. Went to work, was told to go home at
10. Laid down at 10:30 and the next thing I knew it was after 3:00! Wow. Feeling a bit better so I figured I would do a review or two before DS gets home from his job!

So, Saturday the 25th we checked out of AKL and into Coronado. Room was not ready so we headed over to the MK.

First stop, Main Street Bakery ...

We used six snack credits for two coffees, an iced tea, a cheese danish, crumb cake and a yogurt parfait. Total cost would have been $18.49.

I had the danish and oh ... my...goodness, it was perfect. Slighty warm, just the right sweet. Delicious!

DS loved the crumb cake and for some reason, DH wanted to try to be healthy and had the yogurt. I didn't try either of theirs so can't comment.

We sat down the lovely "alley" and felt like we were all alone ...

A truly great way to start the Parks portion of our trip!

Yay, glad you are feeling a little better. Hopefully, it was just a 24-hour thing.

What a way to start the park part of your reviews - your selection from Main Street Bakery was far more successful than ours

Looking forward to more.

After seeing the Celebrate You parade (I just love it!),

we spent time in Tomorrowland. Picked up FPs for DSto try Space Mountain for the first time. He, unfortunately inherited his Mom's ride-chicken-ness. So woudl he like it? :confused3 Stay tuned ... ;).

Lunch was at The Plaza. Another kind of last minute change.

DS and I started with the tomato soup, DH the soup of the day which was loaded baked potato ...

I truly love this tomato soup. Have tried a couple of times to get the recipe but have been told that Disney will not give that one out. The potato soup was good as well, but not as good as the soup at Carnation Cafe in DL for any West-Coasters!

DS had the steak sandwich shaved beef, grilled with onions, mushrooms, red peppers, and white American cheese served on a hoagie roll with fries

DH still feeling "healthy" had tuna salad with lettuce and tomato on freshly baked croissant with chips

I debated several things before deciding on the Vegetarian Sandwich - fresh mozzarella, hummus, basil pesto, cucumber, roasted red pepper, tomato, and lettuce on a freshly baked foccaccia with fries.

As you can see, we all had iced teas.

We all really enjoyed our meal. I really like the freshness of the veggie sandwich and the fries were perfect ... hot, salty, crispy on the outside and soft in the middle.

We were too full for dessert. Total cost would have been $59.55. I think The Plaza is a really great lunch choice in the MK. It doesn't take much longer to eat there than at a QS place. It is in the A/C and I still feel that I am on Main Street so I don't feel like I am missing out on anything.

So, did DS enjoy Space Mountain? YES! He was so nervous going on but ended up loving it! I was so happy for him!

Your lunch at the Plaza looks really good...even without getting any ice cream for dessert! :thumbsup2 I haven't been there in 6 or 7 years, but it just might be time to give it another try.

Glad to hear that Andrew enjoyed Space Mountain. I have never enjoyed that ride, mostly due to a bad first experience. During the take-off my glasses started to fall off and my walkie-talkie (this was pre-cell phone days ;) ) popped off my pack which is worn around my waist (for Joh ;) ) and fell onto the floor. I spent the whole ride with one foot on the radio, one hand on my glasses, and the other desperately clinging on for dear life. :lmao: However, I still ride SM at least once on every single trip because my kids all love it, especially my son...who would ride SM continuously for hours if I'd let him. :crazy2:

Thanks for reviewing the Plaza! I am heading over there in a week. I will definitely order the tomato soup. Have you tried the chicken strawberry salad before? I am curious about that one,

One of those cheese danish will be mine!!

Thanks for the Plaza review! We are going there on our MNSSHP night!

Your hubby may have been trying to be healthy but a tuna salad (with mayo) on a croissant with potato chips does not qualify! :rotfl2: Your sandwich was far healthier I am sure! However, who really cares about healthy at Disney!?!?

I'm glad your son enjoyed Space. I am not sure we will go on it or not... Hubby is a larger guy and I've heard that may be the only ride he might have issues with :guilty: It was closed in '09 so we didn't even have to attempt it then.

We love the Plaza, although DH usually sticks with the burger and I the chicken sandwich so it is nice to see some different items.

I am not a fan of their ice-cream so normally skip dessert there now that they have removed my beloved apple pie (the apple dessert they have now - apple charlotte, I believe, is not a patch on that).

And I am also glad that Andrew rode Space Mountain. I have my own Space Mountain story which I will post about in a few days but, needless to say, Daniel rode Space Mountain for the first time this trip and loved it too.

Barb, you just crack me up. Even though you don't use the word, it still makes me laugh. Oh, and I love the alternative - 'pack worn around the waist' just trips off the tongue, doesn't it :rotfl:

I love it when you say Andrew was chicken with rides. It gives me hope that someday Devin will go on!
