MM Warriors - Three Steps to Good Health (As of 11/18)

I just sent you guys an amazing e-mail a friend sent to me...her horse just had a baby, and she took the most gorgeous photos...look for it in your e-mail...I almost cried again!!

Hey Kate - you out there somewhere? Just wondered how your niece was doing?

Hi, Robin. My niece is better although still in the ICU, still on dialysis and still on the ventilator. Apparently the infection from the pancreatitis was so bad that she was septic. They expect a full recovery. As soon as she is able to move from ICU, they are going to transfer her to a different hospital closer to my sister's house.

Thank you Barb, and Pony. That supplement that Lisa told us about for people with chronic fatigue is helping me so much! And I'm excited my parents are coming. It's the first time in years that I can jump up and do things and I don't feel like I'm dragging weights on chains with me. Pretty cool! I'm grateful and I am energetic. What a concept!

Nell - it is so exciting that you are going to be able to really enjoy your family during their visit with all of the energy that you have now!

Kate: Thanks for the heads up on the Cuddle Duds! Whole Foods is a great choice! You should enjoy your time with the girls and Brad and not stress. Your holiday lights and wreath sound gorgeous! I’ve read that lights on plants that freeze are a great idea, plus it’s really pretty. Tom got out of it again! Had the gall to go to work, lol! I made chili, cleaned a bit and walked the dog. It’s gloomy today outside. Tomorrow I get to clean J-P’s room and bathroom for his homecoming!! Yippee! It was great to ‘see’ you today! Enjoy the festivities!

I still have to clean Chloe's room and bathroom! I pick her up at the airport on Tuesday night. Everyone - please keep your fingers crossed that she doesn't miss her flight (remember the disaster in October when she was at the airport on time but was knitting and listening to her ipod.....). Wednesday, I will drive into San Francisco and pick Demi up. She is going to spend Weds and Thurs night at home. I am so excited to have both girls home together. I think that Weds night we are going to have girls-night-out and go to dinner and a movie. I was to see Precious.

Back from shopping and having a serious lack of energy or ambition, so not doing too much but relaxing...dont get to do that enough, so I figure WHY NOT? LOL

Kate - I wish I had a Whole Foods here so I could do the very same thing!! I applaud you for doing whats best for you, and Im sure that the dinner will be great...its the family and friends and spirit of the day thats important, not who cooked the turkey!

Lisa - I can tell you are so excited to see JP...that is wonderful for you! I wish I could see Ali, but she always works Thanksgiving so she can have Christmas off...luckily Steve's family waits for her to get off so they can all eat together...they are wonderful people and I feel so lucky that she has found such a great guy and such a great second family.

Kathy - hope the baking is going well, and you arent too exhausted!!

Bad news of the day is that Dennis went to the specialist appointment yesterday and was told that the lung cancer has already spread to his liver and metastasized other places as well...they told him he has 6 months with no chemo, and if he does the chemo, maybe a year...Rick is totally devastated, and Dennis is reduced to an emotional wreck...I feel so helpless and inadequate to help them...so cooking food, doing some shopping for them and praying is all I can do...please keep them in your prayers...

Robin - you definitely deserve a break!!! I am glad you are relaxing!

Prayers for Dennis and Rick.

Kate: When our kids get married we won't have to fight about who wants to cook at the holidays! You and Brad can put up the lights and I'll cook.:rotfl:

Oh, Lisa. That just sounds so perfect!:hug::hug: If Brad wasn't so tired, I would loan him to you!

Lisa and Kathy - thanks for the book info, Im planning to read all I can to see if there is anything to be done to improve these last months for him...unfortunately, neither of them is what I would call a "strong" type of man, so they are just crumbling, both emotionally and physically, and spirituality and Faith are not their strengths either...both grew up in abusive and low income homes and have only been able to find happiness in each other these past 20 years. Luckily, Pony does not back down easily, and they are aware that my unwavering faith has gotten me through my own illness and hard times, so they better sit down and get ready, because I intend to bring them both to the Lord, come hell or high water.

Robin - they are lucky to have you for a friend.

Oh my gosh! The photographs are just amazing. Thank you for sharing!

Just a quick good night to everyone. I've been so busy putting up decorations and celebrating my boy's 14th b-day this weekend. Hope everyone is good.

Love to all!

Ok, I've reached the sleepy crashing point. I have done none of the work I had to do for this week yet. You know, the one I get paid for! :rotfl: I just realized it's Sunday night. I'm going to have to bust a move on it tomorrow.

I realized something about the carb dams. If I eat at Ten, two, and six both am and pm, I will never go longer than I should. That would sure make life simple. What I can't believe is that I'm eating so much and that I'm getting smaller. It really confirms for me that I wasn't so fat because I ate like a pig. My body really was taking everything I ate and storing it as fat. I think that we all are on a slow process to healing that. Well, that's what Diane says in the book, and it really does work. Even those of you that are losing weight slowly, there is the change in clarity of thought, mood and there is size changes. I'm feeling very fortunate to have found this way of eating and all of you.

Ok, I better get some sleep. God bless everyone and have a sweet sleep! :grouphug:

Carol - Do you use water weights or a noodle when you swim? I use the noodle like a bike and “ride” it up and down the pool. I also do a lot of other leg exercises while being supported by it. I can feel them, so know it is helping. I spent a couple of hours in the pool today. The water was cold, so had to keep moving, but the weather out of the water was perfect.

Diane – sounds like you had a great day. We were there in 1977 and that is the only time I have been in NYC. We have driven through other parts, but never gone back to the City.

Nell – how great you are feeling so good and able to cheerfully look forward to company. I am so impressed with the size change. It does help to keep me motivated.

Robin – I just got a larger crock-pot for my chili, etc. I don’t like to have to tend to things and like them done when I get home as I don’t seem to stay at home much!! It was definitely less than the pot you were talking about.

Lisa – hope you made the second recipe for chili and that you enjoyed it.
As I read further it sounds as if you enjoyed.

Robin – so sorry about your friend and his diagnosis. Hopefully there is a miracle in the making there.

Carol – I grew up in Santa Rosa – it is a pretty area, but loved Menlo Park, too, where we lived until moving here. Love the weather too much here to move back now, though.

Kate – so glad to hear your niece will recover, but it sounds like she has a long road ahead of her.

Robin – the photos are amazing. Thank you for sharing.

Good Nite Nell – It is really late there!!

Kate – I think I need to make a walk through Whole Foods and put together a dinner. I keep saying I am going to do that, but don’t. I don't have as great an excuse as you though, because theoretically, I get to stay home these days. Age does have an advantage at some point, I guess!!

My early Thanksgiving dinner last night came off quite well. I had everything ready and just had to cook the veggie and heat up the rest of the things as the veggie was cooking. It took all day to get to that point, though!!! Leftovers tonight were yummy. I’ll make some sort of a legal casserole with the rest of the turkey, mushrooms and zero carb noodles for tomorrow night.

I served Diane’s pumpkin pie last night and our friend raved about it. She laughed about the lack of crust, but did admit we probably don’t need it. This gal has absolutely no fat on her. She is unbelievably toned, but works at it. She doesn’t have to worry about what she eats, but healthy food is what she craves. She is definitely not a Met B.
If we could only be like her, it would be great, but then we wouldn’t have “met” each other, either as we wouldn’t be involved in this eating style

I bake the “pie” in a soufflé dish and just call it pumpkin soufflé.

Lots on my agenda for the week – always a good thing.

I assume most all have gone to bed and hope you had a great night’s sleep.

“See” you tomorrow afternoon.

Peanut Butter Chocolate Confection

I just put this recipe in the recipe section. I e-mailed the picture to Kathy!!! For those who like peanut butter and chocolate it should be pretty good!!

I also put in Barb's teryaki marinade as that sounds really good, too. Hope you don't mind.

Good morning all. Not much going on here this morning.

Robin, I will have to get a thermometer to check my oven. I was just thinking it could have been too hot from making the pumpkin rolls first on 350*. The oven was on for quite a few hours before making the bread. I am going to try to make another go when I get home from work today.

Jocelyn, thanks for the recipes. I will try the peanut butter/chocolate candy. That seems to be one of my major downfalls. I could eat a ton of peanut butter melt-a-ways or peanut butter cups.

I am hoping the milk didn't do too much harm. My bloating is down this morning, and I am feeling better. Not wanting any at all. :confused3
It could have been needing the calcium or something. Heaven knows I take enough vitamins each day that I shouldn't need the calcium. It may have even been the vitamin D that I was craving. I may up my D another pill. I know Lisa (I think it was you, maybe not, sorry) said we could take up to 1000 mg daily. I'm only taking the basic pill. Can't remember the mg right off the top of my head. Thinking it may be 500.

Ok, off to get ready for work. Going to be a screwed up week work wise, house sitting and dog sitting for the couple that needed me to.

Kate, that is great news about your niece. Whoever said prayer doesn't work, has never tried it. We have a very gracious God.

Nell, that is great about your smaller size! Your parent will not recognize you!!! I am so happy for you. And I think you hit the nail on the head when you said you weren't overeating, just your body holding onto everything. Too bad some of the doctors that told us we didn't eat right could see us all now.

Hugs and love to you all today and everyday
:grouphug:

Jocelyn - I am glad that your thanksgiving dinner turned out so well. And, leftovers! yUM! Thanks for the recipes.

Good Morning, I see Kathy and Kate are awake too! Hi girls!!

Feeling more energetic this morning...I guess I really do need to take some down time on my days off once in awhile...just seems like there is always so much to be done!

Glad you enjoyed the pictures of mama horse and baby, I just NEVER saw anything like that in all the years I have been breeding, and all the babies we have had!

Kathy - Glad the bloating is gone and maybe it was the vit d? Good luck on the next batchof breads....I know that 350 would be too high for sure, as it takes awhile for the insides to cook properly.

Kate - glad your neice is better, and will hopefully be totally out of the woods soon. Hopefully Chloe will make her plane this time!! LOL

Nell - you are so right about MM, and it is such inspiration to watch your success!! Better go to some fax work girl! LOL Once I figured out the schedule times, it made things easier for me too...now I just know when I have to "feed" and have it already figured into my day...the only time I get screwed up now is on my days off...sometimes sleep in a little longer and have to readjust for the day!

Jocelyn - I definitely need to geet a bigger crockpot too...mine are both 5 qt and sometimes its just not quite enough! I do make some soups on the stovetop still, but the price of the darn stockpots might just change my mind! Also like that idea to put the pumpkin pie in the souffle dish, that would work for me too, and no need to have to explain the reason for the lack of crust!

Kate - haha, its raining once again this morning, so they are all standing down at the barn under the shed roof...but they ARE facing this way!! Guess I better take the hint and go feed them...Geez, do they have ME trained or what?! I keep telling them that if they dont find something constructive to do Im going to put them all to work!

How is the baby cow? Is he all grown up? You just tell those ponies that they better be ready for the Godiva ride!
