MM Warriors - Three Steps to Good Health (As of 11/18)

"Rusty" is doing just fine...he has grown so much and is feeling like a big boy now! He still has his friend "Popper" who is almost his same age, and they are just too cute together! I'll try to get a picture of them to send you.

Off to get ready for work, so see you later!!

Kathy: On the Vit D Carol told us to buy 1000 mg pills so we could take multiples of it. The article said basic is 600, but that’s not enough and to take 2,000 if you are not being monitored by a doc. It said you could go up to around 8,000. I take 2000 now and it seems to have helped my moodiness. Hope it helps you too!

Kate: You sound so much happier! I’m sure you are really anxious to get to the airport on Tuesday! Every time I talk to J-P, I tell him to go early to the airport. He has to fly ON Thanksgiving since he teaches til 10 pm the night before. I was going to postpone T’giving til Friday, but he got an earlier flight so we’ll eat after he gets home. It will be the only time I haven’t picked him up. Dad’s doing it for me so I can cook. They’ll have fun being alone together for the ride home anyway. I can’t wait! Take lots of pictures with the girls and FB them, ok?

Jocelyn: Thanks so much for the recipes! Yesterday, I was reflecting on how much we have all learned from you. You not only bring a lot of information, but a certain kindness and upbeat attitude that is all your own. I treasure you! I know I could live in Hawaii, too. We go into a happy trance as soon as we smell the air! Our nephew, big Irish kid, played football for University of Hawaii and met the most darling girl there. He married her and they live in San Francisco, which was his home. We have two greatnieces that are Polynesian-looking like their Mom. Couldn’t be any cuter!

Robin: Your ponies have you trained! Bonnie has a hard rubber ‘bone’ that holds treats in the ends. It’s her favorite toy. Tom has told her she can’t have any treats in it until she eats her dinner food. Last night she rang the bell on the door and rattled her dish so I told him she was still hungry. He got her more food, but he thinks she did it so she could have treats again! Ah, Oh!

Robin: Now we all have to move to your house?? I used to think I couldn’t live on a commune because I like my own things and space, but it sounds kind of attractive. We could grow our own vegetables, ride ponies and we’d never be lonely! You’d better get a really big soup pot!
:grouphug:

Well, it's another sunny day here and I sure wish it would rain. It's supposed to get up to the high 70's by Thanksgiving and I was hoping for cooler weather so that having the oven on all day wouldn't get the house so stuffy.

Nell, congrats on the fluff loss and being able to fit in smaller jeans. I think you are so right about us Met B people not eating massive quantities of food but just storing all that we ate into nice, fluffy fat cells. On a positive note, we are the ones that would have made it thru the cold, famine times of winter back in the dark ages. We have just been born in the wrong era...thank goodness!

Robin, Tell your guy friend couple that they have a whole group of your friends here praying for their comfort and peace and that they might know God's will for them. Also, I didn't receive the pony pictures so I guess you don't have my email address. I'll send it to you here. Glad you feel renewed today. I will testify to you that once I started observing the Sabbath as a day of rest, my whole week became easier. I know that God blesses us when we are obedient to his commandments.

Kathy, Sounds like you have a busy week ahead of you! I used to have a cleaning business too, and the holidays were always hard with people's company and schedules changing around. Good luck! And thanks for all your info on the holiday adds.

Jocelyn, Thanks for all the great recipes you have posted. Yes, I work out with a noodle and those bar bell things, but I think my legs just need to build up their strength by swimming laps. I'm hoping to do a combination of both aquarobics and laps. I loved Santa Rosa area when I lived there. That was back in the 70's while I was going to school and then working at Sonoma State Hosp. I miss all the redwood trees..it feels like coming home when I visit there. Am glad to hear that your dinner turned out so well and a good time was had by all!

Kate, I'm so glad that your niece is doing better. Her name will stay on the prayer roll at our LA Temple for another week so that should help. I hope you and your girls get to do a girls night out and that it's fabulous! I hope that Chloe makes her plane this time so that you can do this. I can hear how much you miss them. Having your girls around you will be wonderful.

Lisa, I'm glad to hear that the Vit D seems to be working for you. They say it's at the root of many of our ills and that people just don't get enough by being out of doors these days.

Well, off to work and then hope to do the shopping for Thanksgiving dinner.

Carol

Feast upon the Words of Christ

Carol - I am so sorry! I had put everyone into my e-mail address book, and it never occured to me that I might not have everyone!! Please send me your e-mail address so I can send you those pictures...they are truly precious. And I appreciate the testimony...I know that I need to observe the Sabbath as a day of rest, but with no two days off in a row, I find that I need to do shopping, etc and just try to fit it all in after church. consequently I seem to be on the run all the time, and never do get the chance to really rest. I think I need to restructure my time off, so I get all those things done on Tuesday and make the effort to keep Sunday as that resting day. Thank you for that reminder. Also appreciate the continued prayers for Dennis and Rick...
BTW, I would be happy to send some rain your way! LOL, we seem to be getting an awful lot of it lately, far more than we are used to here!! So there is plenty to spare!

Lisa - too funny about Bonnie and her treats...isnt it funny that they know the difference between regular food and their special favorites? It drives me crazy that some people think animals have no heart or soul or feelings...obviously they never took the time to really get to know an animal!
So glad you are getting to have your holiday meal ON Thanksgiving now, instead of having to wait til the next day. I have to be at work bright and early on friday, so we are going to be eating fairly early on thursday to have time to get cleaned up and an hour or two to enjoy talking and relaxing before heading back to the daily grind. BTW, theres plenty of room here to put up a couple more houses, in case you and Tom need your own space!!

Hi everyone! I only had to work for about an hour this morning, so did a little running around, and home again.

Kate, thanks for asking about the foot. It is better. It's just just my knee and calf bothering me. I am thinking I am getting a touch of arthritis in it. It seems to really hurt when the weather changes. It is getting colder out now, and it is really bothering me the last few days. But I refuse to let it slow me down. I think that's the worst thing to do. So I just keep on movin.

I am watching Dr. Oz, and there is a man on there that he is calling the unhealthiest american. It is so sad. I feel bad for him. Dr. Oz is going to help him lose weight and get his sugar under control. I really like Dr. Oz. He explains things out. They just brought out Bob from Biggest Loser to help him with the exercises. They have drs. there from the Cleveland Clinic to help him too.

Robin, I did get the photos. They are beautiful. Can't remember if I told you this morning or not, sorry.

Jocelyn, thanks for the recipes. I got stuff to make the peanut putter treats!!
Can't wait to try it.

Lisa, thanks for the information of the vitamin D. I am going to research it a bit too I think. I will be getting the right mg of them for sure.
Ok, going to get a cup of tea. Catch you all later.

Good day to everyone! :wave2: I wanted to stop to say hi and let you all know I'm still livin! I've managed to kind of keep up with you all, but just reading, been too brain dead to gather thoughts to post. I'm still on plan most days but a fast food something here and there has snagged me a couple of times. I continue to be amazed that I've not gained a single pound back. WooHoo! ::yes:: I really am beginning to wonder if this WOE actually fixes us and lets us metabolize food like normal people, even when we're not fully on plan.

I've been crazy busy all over the place! We finally got our house all finished with the painting and likes, then started at my sister's new place and worked up until this past Friday. What was I thinking!?! I'd have rather been doing this! :surfweb:

I rested my bones on Saturday and then started my prep for Thanksgiving and then our trip to Mexico on the day after. We will have close to twenty five coming this year. I and my mother do the base of the meal, then I appoint something for each family to bring. It always ends up being sinfully too much food but the family time and togetherness is priceless! I do all my baking the day before, (including the turkey) and leave only the things I have to for Thursday morning. It's pressure, no doubt, but it always ends up being worth it to me. If it didn't, I'd sure excuse myself from hosting it! I'm still in awe of those of you that aren't planning a cheat for the holiday, props all over the place to you all!!

Lisa, I'm sure JP would love, love, love you to help him at some point with all his painting, decorating, etc., I'd bet he just might challenge you on paint color choices though, lol. I honestly don't mind helping family out as long as my place is exactly how I want it and have been known to make them wait on me and my services, sheesh, I'm such a snot! lmao! On the Vit D, my doc told me to take an additonal 1000 IU over and above what is added to my calcium suppliment. He warned that there is a danger of toxicity with the Vit. D. It seems to be working for me so far, so glad it seems to be for you as well! :dance3:<<< Sunny D dancers. lol

Robin, you had me "awing" with those pictures this morning! My DH has asked me so many times if we could get horses since we have the space for them. I have always refused because "It would be just one more thing for me to end up taking care of alone" teehee. But those pics sure tugged at my heart! :thanks:

Nell, I know you'll be very busy once your parents arrive, you sound wonderful and very up for it! Enjoy your time with them. I can't wait to hear how they respond to all your changes. Bless you!

Off to scrounge for lunch! See you all soon! ((huggers)):grouphug:

Good morning everyone! Tom, don't read this next sentence. Guess what, I've got my period! I've got some pretty bad cramping, but am excited as this is a definite sign that my body is healing.

Pony, I think the ponies are so funny with their staring at the house. Yes, they have you trained. They must make you laugh all the time with their antics. By the way, can I put my cabin somewhere with you guys? It's going to be a small one!

Well, I'm about to start on this list here. It's not faxes this week actually, I am collecting email addresses from radio stations for press releases. I think the list costs a lot to buy so it's more economical to pay me to do the research.

Lisa, I agree with you on Jocelyn's input and spirit. All of us bring something unique to our group. She is like the breeze on a hot afternoon!

Kate, it's good to see you again today! I miss you when you get too busy!

I'm listening to all the vitamin D talk. I just had mine tested and I am in the normal range on the lower side, but that is after taking vitamin D supplements for six months. I think there is definitely a lot of people who don't get enough. I am feeling so much better on the Ribose supplements that I'm going to get the liquid vitamin and B vitamin pack that is recommended in the fatigued to fantastic program. Although if I feel any better I'm not sure what I'll do with myself. :rotfl: I thought I was just getting old before my time.

Well, catch up a little later. Off to internet research!:grouphug:

Good Morning All!

Robin, I loved your friend's baby pony picture, Thanks for sharing. I think all of us here are animal lovers. Those TV commercials for the ASPCA just kill me! Whenever they come on we turn the channel :sad2:

Thank you Jocelyn for moving my teriaki recipe and for adding all your recipes. I'm thinking chili this weekend since I have the black soybeans now :yay:

Nell, you are the holiday queen :santa:! I just know you are going to have a wonderful time with your family here this week.

Has anyone here tried using Carbquik in the past? I have some in the pantry that I haven't used since starting MM. There was a recipe in my Sunday paper for a coconut pie that looks like it can be adapted for reduced carb. I might try it for Thanksgiving. Milk (Carb Countdown), eggs, vanilla, splenda and Carbquick zapped in the blender and poured into a pie pan. Topped with unsweetened coconut (I'll sweeten with splenda or erythritol) then baked. It is supposed to make it's own crust. Sounds kinda custardy with a coconut topping. Might add some chopped nuts on top too. If it turns out, I'll add it to the recipe thread. I know Diane doesn't trust the carb count on Carbquick so I think this would be for special occations only.

I got to work today and my new database is not working  Our IT guy doesn't get in until 11:00 so I'm shopping online and talking to you all ;)

I'll check back in awhile

I'll catch up with you all a bit later, but had a funny to tell. My pj bottoms are so big the crotch is almost to my knees and the hem is dragging under my feet - thankfully, because it was the way I found out our water line under the kitchen sink is leaking. I couldn't figure out how my pj bottoms got all wet! The foam rug was soaked! Got the line turned off, but now I have no water in the kitchen. I'll wait to see if Tom can fix it this pm before I pay a plumber, but bummer right before Thanksgiving!

I was especially glad to see Pam today!

Off to Trader Joes!

Hi, Robin. My niece is better although still in the ICU, still on dialysis and still on the ventilator. Apparently the infection from the pancreatitis was so bad that she was septic. They expect a full recovery. As soon as she is able to move from ICU, they are going to transfer her to a different hospital closer to my sister's house.

thats awesome Kate--praise God!!!

Hi everyone! Pam, good to see you today.
Some good news from me also. We got a call from the police today. We had to pick up the knife they were holding that was found in Carrie's car. The school decided to not press charges. They felt 45 days out were enough. So we went and got it. I told Mike we should have just given it to the police. Maybe one of them hunt and could have used it for something. I should have told them to give it to my good friend who is a cop LOL.
I can't thank you all enough for the prayers.

Getting the house cleaned up pretty well today. Tonight is garbage night, so I'm thinking of doing a little "clutter control" in the basement. It can go out tonight with the garbage. Not much down there that is very salvageable.
Ok, going to get Carrie. I'll catch up later.

Robin, Mike and I don't really need much to stay at your place. We would even be content to sleep in the hay loft. I just need to shower once in a while LOL. When I was little and we went to camp, it was a small one room building with no running water, no bathroom, no electric. We finally got all that when I was a teenager. So, I have no problem roughing it. LOL

Barb - I cant watch those ASPCA commercials either!! they are just too horrible...I cant watch the Animal cops shows any more either, it just breaks my heart.

Pam - good to hear from you, I knew you had to be out there somewhere! Sounds like you will have your hands full for the holiday!

Lisa - funny you should mention you jammies drooping...I noticed the other night that the crotch of my leggings that I wear at the gym are drooping too! I have to keep tugging them up every 10 minutes or so! Thank goodness you found the leak before the whole house got soaked!!

Nell - the ponies are a constant source of amusement for both me and my neighbors...I think since most of them are "retired", they spend their days thinking up ways to amuse and sometimes annoy me...I told them to get out there and practice some cool routines for the Godiva Ride! BTW, there is an entire acre and a half behind my house that is part of our property, but just standing woodlot at this time...perfect place for you guys to put your cabin!! Could even be a cool spot if you wanted to live in a really big treehouse!!

Kathy - Plenty of room for you and Mike plus kids too! Its an awesome place for kids...so much room to run around, "secret spots" down in the gorge between the cows and the ponies, lots of trails for the dirt bikes, a stream to fish in...so start packing!! If we run out of room there is 100 acres across the street that we could aquire pretty cheap! :car::car::car::car::car::car::car::car::car::car::boat: This is all you guys heading here, and Jocelyn sailing over!!!:grouphug:

 Don't you just love plumbing and electric  Hubby was perplexed this week because he found water on one of the lower shelves in the pantry but the shelves above it were dry. He couldn't figure it out until I pulled out a six-pack of selzer water and one of the cans had sprung a leak

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: That is such good news. Maybe now you and your daughter can move on and put this awful episode way behind you

Kate: I'm so relieved to hear your niece continues to improve and will recover. That was really touch and go and so scary to be septic! How very nice to be able to know she is better before Thanksgiving. Your family has a lot to be thankful for this year!

Kathy: Same goes for your family! Answered prayers all around! Poor Carrie; she's been through the wringer. I'm so glad it's all over now. Still think the story should get out about how unfair it all was...

Robin: You are so cute with us all coming out there!

Thank goodness that's all it was! I'm glad we hadn't done our kitchen remodel yet with new floors. I'm always afraid something like this will happen when we are on vacation!

Isn't that the basement that you will go into if you have Tyson with you? ;)

Kohl's online has those Lee jeans and pants on sale. I ordered the same as the trouser jeans in a black with white pinstripes to wear out with clients. Can't wait! They are called Jessica in case anyone wants to look at them. They are so comfortable and the fit is great.

You are going to enjoy school so much more now that you are Miss Energetic! Your family is going to be so surprised to see you whirling around the house!
