MM Warriors - Three Steps to Good Health (As of 11/18)

Kate: Thanks for the heads up on the Cuddle Duds! Whole Foods is a great choice! You should enjoy your time with the girls and Brad and not stress. Your holiday lights and wreath sound gorgeous! I’ve read that lights on plants that freeze are a great idea, plus it’s really pretty. Tom got out of it again! Had the gall to go to work, lol! I made chili, cleaned a bit and walked the dog. It’s gloomy today outside. Tomorrow I get to clean J-P’s room and bathroom for his homecoming!! Yippee! It was great to ‘see’ you today! Enjoy the festivities!

Kathy: I think I'll add some flax next time, too. No licking the fingers today, OK??:rotfl:

Back from shopping and having a serious lack of energy or ambition, so not doing too much but relaxing...dont get to do that enough, so I figure WHY NOT? LOL

Kate - I wish I had a Whole Foods here so I could do the very same thing!! I applaud you for doing whats best for you, and Im sure that the dinner will be great...its the family and friends and spirit of the day thats important, not who cooked the turkey!

Lisa - I can tell you are so excited to see JP...that is wonderful for you! I wish I could see Ali, but she always works Thanksgiving so she can have Christmas off...luckily Steve's family waits for her to get off so they can all eat together...they are wonderful people and I feel so lucky that she has found such a great guy and such a great second family.

Kathy - hope the baking is going well, and you arent too exhausted!!

Bad news of the day is that Dennis went to the specialist appointment yesterday and was told that the lung cancer has already spread to his liver and metastasized other places as well...they told him he has 6 months with no chemo, and if he does the chemo, maybe a year...Rick is totally devastated, and Dennis is reduced to an emotional wreck...I feel so helpless and inadequate to help them...so cooking food, doing some shopping for them and praying is all I can do...please keep them in your prayers...

Ok, I'm home again. Tomorrow I don't have to go anywhere, thank you god... I'm tuckered and I miss you guys (girls). I am so grateful that I bounce back quicker than I used to. I may be getting a new met B convert. We'll see. You can't rush these things. I hope my friend continues to be interested.

Ok, I'm almost ready. My parents expect to be here around Tuesday. I need to make a list and see if there is anything I forgot. Let me catch up with everyone. I have some reading to do! :grouphug: to everyone!

Robin: Look into a book called The Cancer Battle Plan. This woman had Stage 4 breast cancer that had broken her back bones by the time it was diagnosed. She wrote her book about 8 or 9 years ago - does that tell you something???? She is a Christian who is married to a doctor, so her background isn't much in the natural healing rhealm, but she combined everything she could learn from everything she could glean that has worked to heal other people and put them all into a book with 8 platforms of health. It was given to us by an angel the day Tom was diagnosed and it was a big help to both of us.

You are really adorable Natalie! I hope you are feeling better about yourself. I don't think you should ever feel the need to hide. It's wonderful to see your face finally!

thanks so much! I'm tired but I see the light at the end of the tunnel! trying to find the right doctor without having to take out a second mortgage!!!

Evening everyone. Just a quick break in my baking. I made 8 pumpkin rolls and I have 2 of Robin's pumpkin breads in the oven now. I just have to make the filling for the rolls now. I made one of them with mini chocolate chips baked into it. I thought it might be good. I'll have Mike be the judge, or one of the kids LOL.
I may have somewhat blown my L&P out of vacation. I am craving milk like crazy. I would say I have drank close to a gallon today alone. I usually only have a couple glasses a week. Don't know what is up with that. At least I'm drinking 2%. I am drinking a glass about every couple hours. I can't even call it a craving. It's like I feel I need it. Kind of hard to explain. Sort of like when you know you need your tylenol when you have a really bad headache. Never had this happen before. Now my belly is all bloated. I will be staying on step 1 to well after the holidays now. At least I'm not craving sugary things, or bread or anything like that.
Ok, going to finish this baking up and relax for a bit. I am really feeling as though I over did it this weekend :( Easy work week at least.
Catch you all in a while.

Robin, so sorry to hear about your friend. I will continue to pray for him and all people involved.
I don't know if this helps any, there is a book called The Cure by Timothy Brantley. He has a website, I think it's www.brantleycure.com

Lisa, glad J-P will be able to spend the holiday with you. I'll pray for a safe trip home to you and Tom.

It's nice to hear from you Diane! I'm glad you had a nice day!

Thank you for the prayers for my parents trip Kathy! I called them a little while ago in they where in Richmond VA on route 95. :car: I hope they stop soon, it's getting late. It sounds like you got some great bargains today! Good for you!

Pony, I'm glad your able to wear your ring and also that Ken is excited. That is so cool! The story about the Pony's standing and staring at the house had me cracking up! :lmao: I think the joy our animals bring to our lives makes life so much better! Mine always have me laughing. :) You know, fuzzy socks and a cup of tea sound great right about now! I'm late making dinner though, so I'll put on the socks and have the tea after I eat!

I am also very sorry that your friend is so sick. I will keep Dennis in mind and pray for him. And Rick as well.

Lisa, I hope your chili comes out awesome!:banana::banana:

Kate, I'm so glad that you were able to jump in and say hello. Are you lonely with Brad working again? That's got to be depressing. There is nothing wrong with having the Thanksgiving dinner made for you. I enjoy doing the cooking so I do it, but I wouldn't feel embarrassed about having it done. It will give you more time to spend with family and catching up!

Natalie, I know what you mean about the crowds. I went to Wal-Mart today to pick up a few food items and a turkey pan. It was crazy busy. I'd prefer not to be in big shopping crowds. There's too many carts and not enough room!:crazy2:

I don't think I'm going to go too crazy on the desserts. There is only four of us. Marti wants pumpkin pie. I'm thinking maybe I'll make a sugar free pudding pie. Or maybe some kind of peanut butter and chocolate type pie.

Lisa and Kathy - thanks for the book info, Im planning to read all I can to see if there is anything to be done to improve these last months for him...unfortunately, neither of them is what I would call a "strong" type of man, so they are just crumbling, both emotionally and physically, and spirituality and Faith are not their strengths either...both grew up in abusive and low income homes and have only been able to find happiness in each other these past 20 years. Luckily, Pony does not back down easily, and they are aware that my unwavering faith has gotten me through my own illness and hard times, so they better sit down and get ready, because I intend to bring them both to the Lord, come hell or high water.

Nell - sounds like you basically have everything ready to go, so RELAX awhile and make a list so you can pick up the small things and wrap it all up before they get there! They were in Richmond when you spoke with them? That is only a little over an hour from me!! :wave2: This is me waving HI NELLS PARENTS!!!! they could have come and stayed overnight with me!!

Carol - oops, forgot to tell you, either pie is fine, just try to keep the serving size so its approximately 1/2 cup of either pumpkin or sweet potato, and as she always reminds me...Dont Overdo!! LOL

Kath - thats so weird about the milk craving...didnt I just say yesterday that it seems like alot of us have been having weird cravings lately? WTH?? I bet you DO feel bloated, but Im sure it will go away in a day or two if you dont keep drinking more! What a great idea to put the choc chips in the pumpkin roll, now I am wondering what they would be like baked in to the bread? Let me know what you guinea pigs say!! Sounds like fuzzy socks, a fleece throw and a nice cup of tea would do you some good too tonite! My emotions are all over the place today, I feel downright weepy, and Pony doesnt cry! So maybe I will join you and Nell and get out my fuzzy socks and tea too! (Sorry Lisa, cant do the green tea!)

Robin: ZAP!!! Love you!

Nell: You talking about Pony's ponies made me remember the cutest thing that's ever happened with an animal. Last Christmas I wrapped two presents for Bonnie. (She knows how to unwrap them.) My sister's dog, Cuddles, a husky mix, was here too. Bonnie unwrapped a great new bone toy. Cuddles got up walked over to my sister and sat up in front of her with her paws all the way up (begging you know). Broke all of our hearts! We scrambled around and wrapped up a tennis ball for Cuddles to unwrap. She was thrilled and the 'girls' traded toys and shared.:) They are so smart!

P.S. My chili is great. Those black soy beans are amazing! I'll use them a lot now that I know about them. Last night we had Greek yogurt with pomegranate, Nell! It was better than ice cream! Tonight we're having celery and cream cheese, olives, cheese and crackers to get in the carbs and cut the spice on our warm, chili tongues! Off I go to serve!

sounds sooo yummy! maybe something in milk your body is craving. calcium? relax, don't push too much.

Kate: When our kids get married we won't have to fight about who wants to cook at the holidays! You and Brad can put up the lights and I'll cook.:rotfl:

Lisa and Robin, the animal stories are so funny! I just wake up to a boxer standing over top of me, looking down at me. It is so funny! As soon as my eyes open, he's giving me kisses, and trying to lick my ear off. LOL

Nell, I'm glad your parents are making their way down to you ok. They have traveled quite a bit so far!! How long does it take to get to your house? I can only imagine your anticipation!!

Robin, I feel so bad for your friends. I know you will help them find their way. I will add that to my prayer too. It has got to be such an emotional time for them, and not having their faith to really fall back on must be extremely hard. I will also ask God to soften their hearts to him and his Word.

Ok, 4 packages of cream cheese I had in the freezer were bad. Should have checked it before I started making the rolls DUH. I got 4 of them done. Mike said the chocolate chip one was ok, but he prefers the plain ones. I thought about putting some in the bread, but didn't. I wanted to try it plain first. I just had a problem with the edges and bottoms getting too dark. Almost burnt. Tyson liked it though LOL. I don't know if it's because I had the oven on making the rolls first. I always seem to have that problem though. I bought 2 new pans, and they are the dark ones. I do have a glass one, but it's happened in it also.
Well, if I don't make it back tonight, sweet dreams everyone, and God Bless. Tomorrow is a new day, so I plan to not drink milk.
Good night all.

Sending out many prayers to all of you tonight.

Robin, I'm so sorry that your going through this.

Kathy, I hope your bloating goes down. Sometimes when I'm craving milk I figure out I'm really thirsty. Make sure you drinking enough water!

Your chili sounds terrific Lisa! I tried something unusual for a dessert tonight. Dinner was a sausage and vegetable stir fry and then I realized that there wasn't a carb dam in it. So I took half of a wrap (5 carbs) And 1.5 tablespoons of sugar free preserves (about 7-8 carbs) and some cream cheese and made a roll of it. It tasted like a fresh pastry. Yum. :)

Kate,
The Whole Foods dinner sounds like a treat! No shopping, no prep, and no spending hours cooking. I found myself feeling miffed about doing the whole meal, too. I love to cook, but there's a limit to what I can do and still be a nice, smiling adult person. About 4-5 years ago, I started assigning the kids certain dishes to be in charge of and have ready for the meal. At first they were given recipes to follow, then they could freelance and do what they wanted. It has made them feel good about their contribution to the meal and more grateful for the prep that goes on to get it ready. It's nice having them all milling around in the kitchen getting in each others way and teasing and joking. I have to say that I think I like this time together more than I like the meal itself. I would not have wanted to continue doing it by myself. I was beginning to resent those bodies sitting on the couch asking when dinner would be ready.

Great idea on your part, Kate. You sound like you're feeling better. My good thoughts go out to you as a sister Californian. I can picture your area well, as I attended school at Sonoma State and went thru the nursing program at Napa College. I lived in Glen Ellen and had a home on the creek that runs thru the Valley of the Moon. Wish I had never left.

Hope all is well,

Carol

Feast upon the Word of Christ

Thanks for all the prayers and thoughts for Dennis and Rick..they are just the nicest and sweetest men and would give you the shirts off their backs even though they have basically NOTHING.

Kathy - the breads are burning? OH NO!! I have never had that problem, and I have baked them in foil pans, dark pans and glass pans...have you ever checked your oven temp with a thermometer? I only ask, since I had an oven go wacky on me once, and when I checked the temp it was WAY off... Since I hear there is a pumpkin shortage this year, I bought enough during the sales today to make 4 double batches....OMG I hope I suddenly get in the mood to bake, since I really havent been doing it much since MM! I used to bake every single weekend...I love it and have so many amazing recipes...but now it doesnt even interest me anymore...lots of disappointed family and co-workers these days! LOL

Nell - I LOVE the Santa Clause!! especially the first one! Im going to go watch too! YAY! I have wraps, cream cheese and Polaner jelly...I want a pastry too!!

Lisa - when you and Kate are in-laws, dont forget that Kate and Brad will be living here with me...I HATE putting up lights and you cook way better than me!! :lmao: Im getting psyched about this "union" too! While Brad is putting up lights and you are cooking, Tom, Ken, Kate and I can wrap presents for the doggies and ponies!!

Natalie - I bet you're right...whatever we are craving probably represents something we are lacking that day...weird but what the heck? Seems like we are all taking enough vitamins and supplements to prevent that...:confused3

Nell: Your dessert sounds fantastic! The chili was really good. Hit the spot.

Kathy: Put down the milk! Your tummy might have a hard time with it. It’s hard to digest milk for most people. We don’t have the enzymes for it. I bet you are thirsty for water, like Nell said. Hey, you might like this Greek yogurt. It’s really thick and creamy, like the difference between gelato and regular ice cream.

Carol: I like you meal idea and I’ve made the same announcement for Christmas this year. Everyone is bringing something – even my Dad. That way the vegetarian kids can have some input. It will be a hoot and a big burden from my shoulders.
