MK Closing at 6 pm for MVMCP???

Wouldn't that be because it's a CHRISTMAS party? I know MK is crowded that time, but it is for Christmas.

Do they do anything for Thanksgiving that week? We've never been in Disney for Thanksgiving. I would not want to experience Disney in anything more crowded than what we've experienced in September thru the first three weeks of November.

True, but the first CHRISTMAS party is on Nov 9 which is long before the actual day, and they still stop all parties for the full week of Thanksgiving because of crowds. The only thing they do for Thanksgiving is have some special Thanksgiving menus on Thanksgiving day at a few restaurants.

If the park is closing at 6 now instead of 7 to day guests, then I would hope they at least change the allowed entry time for party goers to 5 instead of 4. This would seem to balance things out.

ETA: If I have to give up an hour of no dining reservations and no FP , from 6-7, then party guests should too.

We will be at The World the week after Thanksgiving. There are 3 6:00 closings for MK and 1 4:30 MK closing. We are planning accordingly, and will be visiting MK on each party day before hopping to another park. And we plan to attend 1 party, but won't buy tickets till we get there because I don't want to go to a sold out party, nor do I want to go to a party with sketchy weather.

I agree. Why should MVMCP ticket holders be allowed to dine between 6 and 7pm when the party doesn't start until 7pm? But non-MVMCP guests can get an ADR for 5:55pm which can keep you in the park until 7pm, or even later, because eating and meeting Beast can easily take over an hour. I think that's fair. But Disney changed the closing hour to make it fair for the MVMCP guests that want to dine starting at 7pm. Which is fair. The thing is they want to dine earlier so they can enjoy the party from 7pm onward, which is not fair. They are there since 4pm. LOL.

I'm not sure there will be a way that will make everyone happy. I say close park at 7pm. Let MVMCP guests in at 6pm. Don't allow ADRs or new FPs for non-MVMCP guests past 6:30pm (but allow them to finish the rides until 7pm). I'm not sure why Disney thinks it's fair for MVMCP guests to overlap 3 hours into MK day ticket guests, but not vice-versa.

Just for the heck of it, I tried to make a reservation at MK after 6:00 on a party night without tickets. I could have a choice of 6:15 or 6:25 at Diamond Horseshoe. Do I book it and get a call after the fact telling me I need a party ticket?

Maybe the decided to allow it until 6:30pm. Which would make more sense.

That's weird, all of the other restaurants in Magic Kingdom have 6pm close on party nights if you look at their individual info pages, except Diamond Horseshoe, it says 7pm.

You might get a call. That's what they did to people last year. :headache:

Considering that they cut them off for the entire week of Thanksgiving, I'm surprised at how close to Christmas Day they keep pushing them.

I went to my first Christmas party in 1998. The first party that year was after Thanksgiving. I went to the first Halloween party in 2003 and it was at the beginning of October. And it was around $35. They are really milking the cash cow on these parties. Before you know it Halloween parties will start after July 4.

They are definitely way too early starting in August!

We'll be there 9 nights in October, and six of them have parties. I am considering buying MNSSHP tickets to have a relatively uncrowded evening in the MK, but my last experience in 2015 it was the first party night Sept 15(?) and was a madhouse. So I am undecided.

It would funny, if it wasn't sad. It is also six nights out of eight in a row, starting the day before our arrival. I have changed it so we are coming in on Saturday now and staying later. But it is six of one, half dozen of the other. We can more easily do something because we are staying longer, coming from Ca, but folks with shorter visits are SOL. Sometimes, you can't control when you have visit.

JMHO, but I think your money will be best spent on upgrading to hoppers. Maybe you were already buying hoppers or have APs?

With hopping, you can tour the MK during the day when MNSSHP is at night and hop elsewhere at night. On the nights when there are no parties, do other parks during the day then hop to MK at night to see HEA.

I have not attended one, but heard the MNSSHP is the best of the parties from many people. The decorations are great! We went to the short-lived "Pirates and Princesses" party, and had a blast. It involved plundering, ahem, trick-or-treating and the kids loved it. I imagine it is similar...
It is too bad when you could get away with not buying a hopper, but need to spend (almost $600 for seven, for us) just to do something in the evenings! Janice is right the hopper is best bang-for-your buck, but a week-night party would probably be fun!
