Minimalist touring

I could never do this.

(If I could, it would be sunglasses, tylenol, and chapstick. My three musts for sunny days anywhere.)

We bring jackets for everyone as we arrive at opening and stay until closing and come in the winter. You need a jacket in the morning and evening. We bring rain ponchos also. Pins for me and three kids in their respective bags. I try to reduce this as often as possible to a zip lock per person of just ones we are willing to trade while leaving the pin bags in the room. But often the kids want the whole thing since they run out of traders quickly, but still want to keep trading! Snacks, water bottles, tylenol/advil, three autograph books for characters, plus the big, fancy Disney pens. Some sort of princess wand or crown for the girl, various weaponry for the boys - pirate swords or light sabers, depending on the park. (I know, I know - that doesn't sound necessary, but it prevents the purchase of a new one if we bring the old one along!) Hand sanitizer, sunglasses, sunscreen, brush, bandaids, gum to aid with nausea from spinning rides (not sold in any park), dramamine (so many spinning rides).

Honestly, I often want to rent a stroller just to put all of our stuff in it! Saves me from having to walk back to a locker.

I guess it will be different some day when its just me and dh. But I wouldn't rush these days away for anything! Not even a bag less day at Disney! :)

Sometimes we bring food in, and if that's the case we bring a small backpack with the bento boxes in it.

Otherwise, we just bring the phone, MBs (or KTTWs) and the camera. Or, if it's only my DD and I, we only bring the camera, as we never separate (but do have meeting places set up just in case ;)).

DH and I are doing an adults only trip in a few weeks, and I am looking forward to packing light for a change! I am going to bring a teeny wallet on a string type quilted fabric bag. It will go in my pocket before we get to the gate so we can go through the "no bag check" line.

In the bag:

Drivers License
Cash
A few bandaids
Super slim hand sanitizer
Disposable poncho
Chapstick
A few ibuprofen tablets

I will keep my smartphone in my pocket, and of course, we will have our Magic Bands for park entrance, FP+, and purchases.

Love this! My three must-haves are:
iPhone
Lip balm
Mini-altoids

My caveat is that I'd 'wear' a few things that are essential: sunglasses, good sunscreen, light jacket if winter (goes around my waist if I get warm), good shoes & the aforementioned wallet that carries cash, ID, & ticket.

No need to carry meds or band-aids; that's what the first-aid stations are for. I also don't need to schlep water--I'll buy or get free in iced cupfuls when I need it.

Peace,
MaryPat

Cowboy hat, empty coffee can, and a mirror to signal airplanes.

Lol!!!!

Well here is my paired down list, as small as I can get it.

I bought this for a hiking trip in Colorado. Gave up the bulky wallet forever after that trip. It carries up to 5 cards, cash , ID and clips to a inside FRONT pocket very securely. I highly recommend it to everyone, especially my male DIS friends.

I plan on keeping my DVC and some cash, and the KTTK cards as backup in this.

Next will be my Canon ELPH 330, its super tiny and will fit along with my iphone in this waist case. An extra battery and memory card, and I'll throw in a few bandaides. And a carmex lip balm. And a few tabs of the required meds for the family.

Finally , i wear Nike glasses which come with excellent clip on polarized sunglasses. I got an extra belt loop case for those as they are expensive and i do not want to crush them in my pocket as I have before. The two small bags will be attached to my belt. This is a huge downsizing compared to the usual back pack I bring for all the family junk.

The kids are big enough for their own fanny packs if they want them. All the other stuff.

Also , I guess the lanyards for pin trading , but we only do that at MK, I take a few spare pins and chuck them in my pocket for the other parks. Naturally if it rains, I bring a light windbreaker and that has pockets too. So no back breaking PITA pack this trip.....

What i really really need is one of these.....so I could carry my Bat shark repellant.

Pretty sure DH and I are the most minimal people on the planet for travel, Disney or anywhere. I take a small wristlet with my phone, room key, (won't be needed now with magic bands) credit card, a few $20s and ID. Sometimes if I'm feeling crazy I'll include a lip gloss and maybe mascara but only if it fits in the wristlet. DH puts that in his pocket so we skip the line and he carries a cc, phone and his ID. We slather on sunscreen before leaving the room and buy whatever we need to eat/drink in the parks. I can't imagine a trip with a backpack, etc. but our lives and even our home is very minimalist. We enjoy the clean lines of the post modern art movement and kinda just go with it in life in general. Do we spend more on bottled water, booze, whatever? Yes. Its worth every penny to us!

I am so with you on this. I want to carry as little as possible if I absolutely need something I will pick it up while I am out.

I also carry one of the wristlet things with my ID, debit card, credit card, and any tickets/passes. My phone fits in it too, so if this all counts as one item my other two would be my Burt's Bees lip balm and a small thing of lotion. The soap at WDW dries out my skin after just ONE hand washing, a whole day of it makes my hands feel awful! Sounds silly but I do not go to the parks without hand lotion! :-)

For most days, I only carry three things in the park - wallet, ipod touch, and individually packaged Wet Ones towelettes.

I have cargo capris that I only wear on vacation, and the pockets are perfectly sized for what I carry. I don't carry rain gear unless the rain chance is more than 30% because I can usually manage by ducking into a building if the odd stray shower comes through. If the rain forecast is higher I will either bring a compact umbrella or poncho. If there is a special event I may wear a better camera around the neck, but usually the camera in the ipod is sufficient. I use a good sunscreen before I leave the room, and have never found a need to reapply in the parks - but I usually don't go in the summer either.

I have plenty of drinks in the room which saves me money at the resort, so I don't mind buying the occasional bottle of water in the parks. I have bottled water with my meals in the parks as well, so I may have a half bottle or so to carry until I finish it.

I have back issues, so wearing a backpack or a heavy crossbody bag can really mess me up. I even have to watch the weight of the camera carefully - no huge DSLR for me. So I've learned that traveling light is the way to go! Plus I get to bypass the bag check lines too.

If I could only choose three it would be my cell phone, chapstick, and sunglasses. I think I could probably get by with just those three things, but I like the convenience of having a few other things on me as well!

What are 3 essential item you must have in the parks? ( its like that desert island thing.......)

Ready set go! Think hard you can only choose 3!!!! (Wallets do not count!)

This is absolutely necessary in the parks (meaning I can buy what I don't bring in) -

1 - photo ID
2 - admission pass (in my case, annual pass)
3 - valid credit card

Now - for others, that can be shortened even further since you can combine things like your pass and credit options.

I didn't include even a room key since you can leave that in a locker outside the park. I'm going with what I would absolutely need INSIDE a park in order to have a good time.

Last night I went to PFTS at Epcot. My outfit had no pockets. In one of those water proof cases from the waterpark I took AP, room key and photo ID. Wore it under my blouse.

Clicked this thread for bag tricks and found a neat gift idea! Thanks! :)

-My Camera
-My phone
-My water bottle
-My wallet (since it doesn't count I figured I'd add it)

I only ever need hand sanitizer and my phone.

Plus, after this last trip, I did the smartest thing ever and brought a travel-sized umbrella! It was so much better than a dumb poncho. I've always hated those things. (My mom used a poncho and looked absolutely miserable!!)

Everything else we buy from the parks. :D Yes, even water (diet coke for me).

Great thread!!! I'm not a minimalist by any stretch of the word. But, DH has begged me over the years to pare down on my crap! LOL! We usually put everything in the pockets of his cargo shorts. Most often we bring sunglasses/glasses case, a small zippered case which includes bandaids, hand sanitizer, Tylenol, pinbacks, glucometer, and a lip gloss, also, a small camera, a phone battery charger, and our cell phones.

I suppose if I had to only choose 3 items they'd be, sunglasses, glucometer, and cell phone. Wow, that's rough!!!!

As a little tidbit, Tylenol can be purchased at just about any shop in WDW....if you don't see it chances are they may have it behind the cash register, just ask the CM! That has saved me a few times in the parks.
