Over the years I have seriously refined what I bring to the parks. Its obviously much easier to be a minimalist if your staying on site ( particularly at a monorail resort) or your willing to shell out money to buy things at the parks.

This year we are attempting a whole new level of minimalist thinking. I am trying to bring only absolute essentials to the park, and try to live more in the moment.

We are bringing a small point and shoot camera only, but I promised to spend alot less time taking pictures and more time living out from behind the lens.

We are also not going to be chasing down Photo pass photographers either. If rain is in the forecast we are bringing rain gear to stow in the car or a locker.

So lets see if you can help??!!

What are 3 essential item you must have in the parks? ( its like that desert island thing.......)

Ready set go! Think hard you can only choose 3!!!! (Wallets do not count!)

Oh my gosh.......only 3? :scared1:

1) My IPhone (for pictures and communication)
2) REALLY comfortable shoes
3) ADRs to my favorite restaurants

The rest can be improvised! :goodvibes

My three things that I would have to carry besides my wallet and phone are:

  • A tube of Vaseline lip care (can be used for chafing too in a pinch)
  • Cell phone battery recharger
  • A small credit-card sized ziplock bag with several pieces of mole-skin, a band aid, and 2 or 3 doses of Tylenol or other pain killer.

Things that someone might carry but are available in the parks are:

  • Kleenex (napkin, TP)
  • Water (free at counter service)
  • Camera (use cell phone)
  • Snacks (purchase in park)
  • Reading glasses (wear bifocal sunglasses)
  • Pen/paper with/for notes (use cell phone note pad)
  • Line games (cell phone games)
  • Sunscreen (apply heavily before leaving room - not recommended for summer days)

I like to wear cargo shorts and this is what I usually carry:

- a small wallet to hold ID, passes, credit card, insurance card, a paper listing adr's and show times if needed
- phone sometimes
- a mini-size sunscreen
- a comb
- a few bandaids and small packs of Tylenol or Advil

That's it for me. I know it's 4 items but maybe the comb could be put in a Ziploc with the bandaids and drugs. DS will carry his wallet and his phone and he's done too. I have brought a tiny camera but not often.

1. Water bottle with built-in filter.
2. Small ziplock bag that includes aspirin, a few cough drops, band-aids, pepto bismol pills, small sunscreen, Chapstick, hair ties/bobby pins and wipes.
3. A few small snacks to tide me over in lines or while traveling from park to park/resort. I usually pack dried fruit, goldfish, or granola bars.

1. Hand sanitizer.
2. Roll of Rolaids. (Cuz all that yummy junk food tends to give me heartburn.:rolleyes1)
3. Cell phone.

Love this thread!!! :thumbsup2 Everyone's must-haves are so different!

If wallet is not included, i managed 10 days in the parks last month with nothing at all...

No Phone, no camera, not a thing, and it was totally liberating.

Opposite problem for me...I can't think of a 3rd thing to bring.

Back pocket: Folded cash, credit card, kttw card.
Front pocket: smartphone

7 park days on the last trip, only once did I bring anything else (dslr camera)

:worship::worship::worship: I am envious! My bag size expanded with the addition of each child...now I shlepp 5 people's must-haves in a backpack. I am an MK sherpa!!!

I am attempting to go 'bagless' sort of! I have a small bag the size of a wallet which I will just keep in my pocket. It does have a string so I can put it on as a cross body if I want. This is inside:

Phone
Chap Stick
tiny hand sanitizer
2 bandaids
a few blisters of Advil
a square of moleskin
and of course, money, license, debit card and insurance card

I envy you guys, for myself I could spend all day in the parks with just what I put in my pockets. But I have to tour with two women (DW & DD).

What kind of bag is this? I really don't wanna be carrying a purse (skip.bag check). My must haves....money, phone, phone charger, sunscreen, advil and snacks. I would forgo the snacks, but I have to eat gluten and I think also now dairy free and would just be cheaper and less stressful bringing my own thing.

Hat, sunscreen, camera. Chapstick, advil can go in my pocket. Sunglasses I'd wear. But then I'd panic if I don't have band-aids, wet-wipes, extra batteries. The thing I hate the most to carry is ponchos, but when we go in the summer they are a must usually. We buy them at the first rain then carry them the rest of the trip in the backpack. They really add to the backpack weight. I don't like the dollar store ponchos so we buy Disney ones.

OK -- wallet doesn't count //hotel key, cash, and credit card can be in the wallet:

1) Car key -- we get a rental car when in the area
2) little tube of sun screen -- FL sun can be hard on light skinned northerners who spend most of their time inside (Cell phone more important than this if there are people you need to hook up with. With just two of us, though, I didn't need the cell phone) // Some might want the cell phone for line apps too.
3) Generic Ibuprofen -- Theme parks are so much fun. Sometimes though coasters or lots of walking can give you a few little muscle aches. Ibuprofen does the trick so you don't notice this and can keep your day magical. (I'd replace this with a touring plan instead if you are using one. Now me on our last trip at the MK I like planning so much and only had seven attractions to hit, so memorized my touring plan and order lol and didn't need this).

Note: I just have rain ponchos in the car unless I am bringing in a backpack.

If I have a large group and am going on a budget, I bring a soft sided cooler and cooler backpack with sandwiches, fruit, etc. Saved a ton one year with my group of 10. // On my last trip with just two of us, I didn't bother with this and just took the three items mentioned above and my wallet in my purse. (very easy day).

Now I'm questioning myself. I'm heading ton the world Nov 28-Dec 5. I LOVE Splash so I must go on it several times. My ones and ankles are not the best so planning on wearing my good support sneakers instead of sandals. That being said I don't wanna walk around all day in soggy shoes. I might have to bring one of those mesh pull string back packs. I'll still have to go through bag check but I won't have soggy shoes. Planning on being at the parks from rope drop to close so no time to be heading back to the room at Pop to change clothes and such.

my 3 things

DH
DD
park tickets

seriously I'm a carry things in my pockets kind of person. DH is the photographer so his list would include the camera (and a couple of lenses)
