Mingos in the Watah! What in the Wuhld?

I have to get the buttermilk chicken at least one night on our trips! It is so good!!

I got a little carried away with the discounts and now have two more trips booked this fall.... It's a good thing I live close :goodvibes

Hopefully you were able to get the passholder discounts for your Oct. trip! We will miss you once again in Oct. and Dec. by a few days! One of these days we'll be there at the same time :thumbsup2

You better behave better when you start the first day of college! :rotfl:

Jill said she didn't volunteer a lot of information about her day. I'm sure she was busy trying to process it all.

I will, I promise ;)

Did I tell you about my class schedule? I picked classes at orientation and they gave me a list of every course and what days/times they were. I managed to work out my first semester schedule really well. I don't have any classes on Fridays, so I only have to commute 4 days a week. Monday and Wednesday I have class from 11:00-12:20 and 2:00-3:50. Tuesday and Thursday I have class from 10:00-11:50 and 2:00-3:50. :dance3: The late morning classes will be really good for me. I'm not a morning person at all. I can't tell you how many times I walked into my first class right when the bell rang in high school and I live a mile away. I'll have plenty of time in the morning to get to school, and I shouldn't hit any traffic at that time. I'll also have plenty of time in between class to get lunch, and I'll have a 3 day weekend every week. But I'll probably need all that time to do all of the work  But that schedule will be perfect for a commuter who likes to sleep late :thumbsup2

I love the John Wayne scene in The Great Movie Ride. I named Ethan after his character in The Searchers. I watched that movie with my parents a lot when I was young and always said if I had a son, I would name him Ethan. Good thing my husband agreed.

Thanks for the walk around HS! You got some great pictures!!

I'm with you on the Movie ride. I always get the urge to watch old black & white movies after that ride!!

The things is, in reality, I rarely watch a movie all the way through. I mean really really rarely. My kids would/will get so aggravated with me, because after about 10-15 minutes, I sneak up to go do some 'piddling'. ;) I'll go wash a few dishes or gather up some trash or throw a load of laundry in. Then I'll peek back in on the movie, but I've missed out on important things by then. :upsidedow

I think that would be the best school ever! In DIStown there would be no need for state testing, they could have chicken dinners from POP for lunch, and maybe a Mickey Bar for a reward!

No testing! :woohoo:
I promise, our kids would still learn a ton of stuff. Maybe two tons of stuff! :thumbsup2

I had a delightful ride with you.

I am glad you enjoyed it. Maybe we'll cross paths in WDW one day and take a real ride together. :)

Oh my goodness, I really enjoyed the "visit" to DHS...which is still hard for me to say! Personally, we still call it MGM. It will always be MGM to us. I'm having bad WDW blues, so any update from your trip is a good one for me!

But I have to say, that stage looks so bad in front of the hat, which ruined that whole area!

There's way too much stuff there now. :sad2:

I'm sorry you are having Disney blues. I hope putting plenty of Disney into your wedding will keep you in a magical mood. :wizard: Jill had all DIsney music in her wedding, and it was beautiful. Are you doing any Disney music?

Thanks for the great pics Memom! I'm getting some wonderful ideas for our next trip.
I am actually making a note for myself about the chicken dinner since we will be staying at Pop - I think that is what I will have our 1st night there I've actually never had one of their Moms Night Out meals , but I think that's what I'll be eating come November (along with the tie-dye cheesecake).

It's nice to share tips and ideas to help other people have better trips.
That's a nice perk for hanging around on the DISboards.

I think there are 3 different Mom's Night Out meals - chicken, turkey, and meatloaf - and each is served only on certain nights, so plan carefully. :)

OMG David and I were just talking about this last night!! With all the discount frenzy going on, we finally booked our October trip, its officially official!! But Disney didn't start the AP discount until the 3rd, and completely skipped over the 2nd from the last set of AP discounts (which went from August 13-October 1) so we have to split our stay: 1-3rd at Pop, 3-9th at Boardwalk!! David only stayed at Pop once, and Ive stayed there a lot, so I was telling him about how one night we could have dinner at Pop and see what their special TV dinner special is! I love it!!

I KNOW!! They are so pretty, especially at sundown when the sky turns shades of blue/purple

Then you haven't seen Wicked! She's actually quite pleasant. Which I remind my car-mate of, every time we ride.

We'll miss you. We had originally planned to go for the 40th anniversary on the 1st, but then Jill couldn't really ask off, since she went this summer and we're going again in December. So, then we decided we weren't going to go at all. Then Jill said maybe Brooklynn and I could go, since I had been wanting to take just her. We decided that would work, but we changed the dates so that I wouldn't have to use any school days. In the end, our dates got skipped over for free dining, so we'll be budgeting our food carefully.

I'd love to be walking through Hollywood tonight, getting some ice cream, and waiting for Fantasmic. :goodvibes

MeMom, I want to ride Great Movie Ride with you but you have to do that exact narration!!

You know I would never speak a word on that ride! I don't talk in front of crowds. No, no, no I don't!

It's so weird that a picture of the information board, of all things, can make me miss Disney and be so excited to go back! : I love GMR. I have been known to YouTube the ending montage with all the movies b/c it usually makes me tear up and I just love it.

Glad Brooklynn's first day of kindergarten went so well!

I think I taped a little bit of that ending movie on a recent trip, but I can't remember which one. And we're really bad about putting the video up, so sadly you guys are missing out on some of the fun stuff we did.

I also want to do the Great Movie Ride with that exact narration! I think we found you a new job MeMom! I agree, one of my favourite parts of the attraction is watching all of the movie clips while waiting to go, and the ones at the end too! I am a huge movie fan!

I'm still like this and I'm nearly 30! I can't stand doing things that I'm not good at! (i.e. math, cooking...)

But remember, it also means that they try extra hard to be good at things, and that can be a good trait too!

You'd be sorry if I was your guide in GMR. I would do no narrating. :sad2:

Cooking is just a lot of experimenting. Some things works and some things don't, and you just laugh at the flops. :goodvibes

Congrats to Brooklyn on staring Kindergarten. Every one of my kids were excited to go, and it made me cry.... lol

Love the update of DHS. Honestly though, can they put more stuff in front of the theater? soon it will be all the way to the front of the park!

Love hearing/reading about the travels....such fun.
We may be staying at Pop next year for my sons Graduation trip.Totally looking forward to one of those meals. (if he lets us leave the parks)

I hope your school year is wonderful. And to you and all the teacherson these boards, THANK YOU. for teaching kids. You are special people, and you should get much more credit! (and money!)

KIM

I think most teachers do truly try to teach, but sometimes it is so frustrating, because some kids just do not care. That in itself is what it is, but when a job performance for a school is rated on what kids decide/don't decide to do, then that's really not cool.

A graduation trip will be a lot of fun! Nice way to celebrate!

Oh that really would be the BEST. SCHOOL. EVAHHH!!!!

Thanks for the narrated tour of GMR this morning! I'll have to show it to Miren later as that is her favorite ride! She's such a funny little movie buff. She loves learning about all the old movies in the queue and the montage at the end; Ramon and her usually come home with a couple of movies in mind to watch. The latest one they saw was The Searchers (there's a scene in the queue with John Wayne and Natalie Wood).

And I said this on Heather's report earlier, at the rate our kids are growing, we'll need to have a college in DIStown, too - DIS U. ;)

Miren is awfully young to be so interested in those old movies. Maybe she'll be a director someday. :thumbsup2

Not much else you need, really!

...I last saw him by the backside of water...

I am the one in the car ALWAYS singing along at this point. Hey, the guide encourages it!

Great pics of the Great Movie Ride! I love that ride!

We enjoy it, too, and it's a nice place to sit down and be cool for a while. :)

Alright MeMom...it's official!

DH has decided to teach part time and work on his PhD full time so that he can be done by Dec 2012.

Which means we are going to be poor, poor, poor until then. Which means no Disney...until 2013 at the earliest.

So I'm going to have to live through your pictures until I can book our next trip.

Thanks goodness you've got so many trips coming up!

Well, I'm poor all the time, so we should have a lot in common.
I need to wait until 2013 to go again, but I do not have the fortitude to do that. I'm Disney poor, to be honest, but as long as I am paying my bills on time, I feel okay about things. I justify it by knowing that it is my only fun things that costs any money. I don't buy clothes, shoes, purses, jewelry, don't go to movies or out to eat, etc. I don't drink or smoke, so I don't spend money on anything like that. I pay my own bills, and I contribute to several charities and to church.

No, do I have a bundle of money in a savings account?
I'll let this smiley guy answer -

:lmao:

I think that means no. ;)
He's just so rude sometimes. :upsidedow

That TV Dinner looks scrumptious and I'll probably get it too since we have free counter service dining for our trip. This is our first time to ever do a dining plan (and it's FREE!!)

Loved "riding" the Movie Ride with you. Can't wait to see that one again. I think my favorite part is the Oz part. We always have to look at the hand prints and food prints and see how me measure up to the stars.

We'll take FREE dining, but it is so much food. It's too much for me, so I wouldn't benefit from paying for it.

The Wizard of Oz part is at least light enough that you can sometimes get some decent pictures. Some of the parts are too dark for good pictures. I never get a good picture in the Tarzan part.

I hope Brooklyn enjoyed her first day of kindergarten. Can't wait to hear about it! I'll be meeting my little kindergarteners in 2 weeks.

I worked on more room stuff today, but I did it at home. ::yes:: I have a tub full of things I can do here and take in on Monday. Some of our teachers are already living down there, and I'm not ready to give up my freedom quite yet.

Yummy chicken dinner! It looks delicious!

Yay for Bo! We saw him too! As I was taking a picture of Bo, I was explaining why he was named Bo to Ben and I think he just shook his head and said something about being crazy.

We missed the Great Movie Ride again....plus I was partly afraid it would scare Owen. It gets scared pretty easy.

Ben, it's okay, don't be jealous of Bo. He's not after your wife. He's Chelsea's fella. ;)

Do you realize you called your sweet little bundle of energy and fun an 'it'? :rotfl:

I got what you meant. ;)
You get a free coupon for one Making Fun of MeMom time, which shouldn't be hard, because I make a zillion mistakes every time I type!

I need prayers for my nephew one of his roommates, friend and co-worker died Tuesday. They are not sure of the cause yet, but he seemed to be in perfect health ate healthy, work out everyday etc. He was 27 years old. Please keep my nephew and the roommate's family in your prayers.

Thatis heart breaking. My prayers are definitey with everyone.

I also love DHS at night. The lights are so pretty. Is it just me or does the MK seem very dark at night. I remember thinking that it was especially dark by the tea cups. It was kind of too dark for me.

Well, I admit that she got all that from me. I've always been like that too until the last several years. I've really chilled out in my thirties, so don't give up hope on yourself. Maybe by 35 you will have relaxed a bit too. And you are right, she is a good girl and tries so hard to please everyone.

Memom..... that's the best looking TV dinner I've ever seen! And I love all the parks lit up at night too. It has a totally different feel!

You have a great kid, and we all know that! :thumbsup2 Brooklynn is awesome, too. We just have to appreciate them for their abilities and talents and be understanding of their 'quirks'.

I will have to try the meatloaf and the turkey dinners, too. I have only had the chicken.

Looks like your day is ending off nicely. Wow, that is a lot of food for one person, but it looks really good. Especially those potatoes Yum!

HOORAY FOR HOLLYWOOD! (: The lights there at night are very nice, set a nice ambiance. And those handprint signatures are probably one of my favorite things (minus attractions) to check out when I'm at DHS. I think I have a picture of every one, I got to check that hahaha Love the picture of Brooklynn trying to fit her hands in. :D Oh my gosh, your narration of the Great Movie Ride is awesome! I think because of GMR, when it's raining and I see a lightpost, I just have to jump on it and start singing hahahahaha

Can't wait to read more!

I love to hear the Hooray for Hollywood music, because it makes me feel like I am pulling up to the Studios.

Next update, I think we'll be almost ready to line up for Fantasmic. :thumbsup2

DHS is just so pretty at night!

It is. All the neon lights are cool.

I booked a free dining for March/April, just in case I can get someone to go with me. Trent said he might be ready to go by then. We'll see.

Yes, I got the passholder rate for October. I need to call back and see if there is anything for December, but since it's Christmas week, I doubt it.

I will, I promise

I love the John Wayne scene in The Great Movie Ride. I named Ethan after his character in The Searchers. I watched that movie with my parents a lot when I was young and always said if I had a son, I would name him Ethan. Good thing my husband agreed.

I named Drew after a character from The Waltons, although not a main character. At one point, Elizabeth had a boyfriend named Drew Cutler, and I thought he was cute and a neat kid, as far as his character on the show. I also liked the name Drew because it sounded like a strong name to me. This actor appeared again many years late in a military series of some kind, although I don't remember any more than that.

I think men let the women name their kids, for the most part, don't you? I guess they figure since she is going to do that hard delivery part, she should at least have that right. ;)

 I'm so sorry to hear about this - he was so young. I'll be praying for them.

We sure hope so. She is a little OCD about some things, so hopefully the teacher will help her work some of that out. She's not bad, but sometimes little things bother her that many kids wouldn't even notice. Like Jill told the teacher, sometimes if Brooklynn doesn't think she can do something perfectly, she just won't try at all, so she misses out. This will be a good year of learning that people and events are never going to be perfect, and you just go on with it.

DS is like that but slowly got better. Never really learned to ride a bike, I sure he could ride if he had to but practicing something is not his strong suit. He feels like he should just know it. He has missed out on some things because of that but overall has accomplished many things in spite of it.

So sorry to hear about this. Thoughts and prayers to both families and they try to make sense of this tragedy.

I just saw Brooklynn's photo tribute...which brought tears to my eyes! How sweet--and how quickly they grow up. :cutie:

And thank you for the ride through the movies!! You got some wonderful shots of the ride!

I hope Brooklynn enjoyed her first couple days of Kindergarten!

I really enjoyed the pictures of Brooklynn through the years. I hope she continues to enjoy kindergarten.

Danielle can't wait for school to start, I'm wondering how long that will last once school really starts. I seem to remember being excited to go back and see everyone but once they started handing out homework I was ready for summer again.

Wonderful pictures of GMR. I love that ride so much.:lovestruc I'm such a sap.

I'll be praying too. I have a son that will be 26 this month and I can't imagine losing him at such a young age.

That is awful :sad1: it hurts more when it comes so soon and with no obvious reason. Your nephew is in my prayers darlin  I hope he can stay strong

Oh I hope your right! I, too, am a classic type A child where I knit pick at certain things, have some selective OCD tenancies, and want everything to be perfect. Including the people around me  I'm really bad I know. The worse part is, though, I'm part of a mixed family so we have two type A female teens rampaging around the house :scared1:

Memom~ Excited to hear Brooklynn's first day went swimmingly!

Wait a second... So your saying all those times my Mom yelled at me to get off the roof she was preventing me from becoming a movie star!? I need to have a talk with her... :upsidedow

As far as the movie ride goes...I feel very ashamed :sad2:
1) I have only seen two of the movies used in the whole ride and that is the Wizard of Oz and Tarzan. I know! I have not seen Marry Poppins! I'm deprived.
2) I never stopped to look at the hand prints outside of the ride, or even in front of the actually Chinese Man Theater when I was a California local, I take too many things for granted.

Now I'm off to look at more threads since I'm too excited to sleep and I'll probably stop at Chick-fil-A for breakfast because thanks to your pictures I really want chicken right now.

We are all so sorry for this loss and for the shock and grief it is bringing to the family and friends of this young man. Sometimes there are things going on insde seemingly healthy people - enlarged heart, aneurysm, etc. - that we just have no idea about. You can be assured that many thoughts and prayers will come from your DIS friends for this situation.

I also love DHS at night. The lights are so pretty. Is it just me or does the MK seem very dark at night. I remember thinking that it was especially dark by the tea cups. It was kind of too dark for me.

I think it is the 'glamourous' atmosphere of Hollywood at night that gives it such a fun and different feel. It makes it seem like you're out for a night on the town, which is way different for me, because I never go out on the city streets at night!

Maybe when all of Fantasyland is finished, the whole lighting issue will be resolved.

DS is like that but slowly got better. Never really learned to ride a bike, I sure he could ride if he had to but practicing something is not his strong suit. He feels like he should just know it. He has missed out on some things because of that but overall has accomplished many things in spite of it.

Brooklynn is not in any way overly OCD, but she might let something little bother her that many kids wouldn't even pay attention to - like maybe having to have a bad grape pulled out of the bunch before she will eat the rest of them, instead of just pulling it off whenever, or not wanting to cut two cakes with the same knife, thus getting some of the chocolate cake on the white cake. Just little insignificant things - life will be easier for her if she just sees those things as no big deal.

Oops! I meant HE gets scared easily! :rotfl2: That's what I get for not proofreading before I hit post! :rotfl:

I do proofread, or at least I think I do, but I will read back a day later on something, or someone will quote me, and I still see mistakes all the time. Yours just happened to be a funny one. ;) I was thinking of him wolfing down that Earl sandwich, too, so that's how I was picturing your little 'it'!

All of our sweet DIS kids are growing up and experiencing new adventures! I love seeing them in their everyday lives aside from their Disney trips.

Brooklynn is about to have her first school Friday. She's only had a three day week, so that's a good practice week to get her adjusted. I know Jill is looking forward to her weekend. She always has something going on, so it is so nice when she can have some down time.

I'd say in about a month (or less) we'll all be dreaming of next summer vacation. ;)

We almost always take a picture or two of the handprints. I don't know why - it's just something I started doing, and I've kept it up.

Enjoy that Chick-Fil-A! Have an awesome time on your trip!
