Mingos in the Watah! What in the Wuhld?

She met a new friend, Matt, who played like he was a puppy dog. She is an animal lover, too, so they were friends yesterday.

Awww... that's so cute. One of the best things about Kindergarten, everyone is friends with everyone... well... until cooties come along :p Hahahaha

#4 - My notes reminded me that before we sat down to eat our chicken dinners at Pop, Jill and John ran into some real classy people. Or maybe they were not classy. These were the kind of people that can give value residents a trashy name, and if everyone judges value resort guests on people like this, I can't say that I blame them for their thoughts.

The family had a crew of kids that were arranging the kids' chairs into a theater in front of the TV, which was fine. Our girls have done it, and we have seen others who have, as well. Kids think that's fun. Anyway, Jill was trying to get the girls situated at a kiddie table and went to get two of the small chairs to bring to the table. One of the moms called out to her that her kids were playing with those chairs! I wasn't there, because I was getting my stuff, since we swap off to go get food. Jill said she couldn't believe that lady was going to try to tell her she could not take empty 'theater' seats for Brooklynn and Bella to be able to sit down at a table. :headache: She took the chairs anyway, and I came up about that time. Jill and John went to get food, and I got to listen to the obnoxious group. The kids were up, down, and all around. The adults were all very loud talkers. One was telling her daughter to come here, and the little girl was not cooperating. The mom went into the 'I brung you to Disney World and all you want to do is play with the d--- chairs. Let's go!"

I was very glad when they finally gathered their entire crew and made their way out. :)

Uggghhh... I hate people like that. I didn't even know people always gave those who stayed at values a bad image. C'mon, you're at Disney World, how much time are you going to be spending at the resort? Also, POP Century is considered to be better than even some of the moderates, maybe deluxes, that's saying something, though it is very nice to stay at a deluxe :goodvibes But I can't believe how those people got angry over those darn chairs! Reminds me of the jerks cutting my sister and I right before we got on BTMRR :sad2: Loud, obnoxious and rude... you can't go to Disney without running into them -_-

I make my DH go on that ride every time! Even though I know he only does it to humor me.

What are the chances that I can get my then 16 month old on this ride without traumatizing her during the "Alien" scene?

Brooklynn and Bella have both traveled to Disney as 16 month olds (as well as a few other times ;) ) and nothing has traumatized them yet. I have never avoided a ride, attraction or show and they have always been fine. Never have I had to leave something because they were crying or upset. I don't know that either of them have ever really noticed the actual alien and we ride Great Movie Ride every trip.

I WISH I was only Disney poor!!

Our bills are getting paid on time but we do have some consumer debt (credit card) which used to be really bad but has been steadily paid down over time. We'll be out of debt once we get the money from our house sale because we'll pay off the credit card and put the rest in the bank.

My kids have never lived anywhere else but we can't afford this house so we had to sell it. Because we are only anticipating being in Windsor for another 1.5 years, we decided to rent. The house we have rented is nice, in a good area and not too far from our current residence. But I'm heartsick about leaving.

I love my house...we chose the blueprint design and all the finishes (tiles, cupboards, counter tops etc) inside of it. And it was brand new when we moved in. I'm having trouble sleeping because of it.

What if I hate living in our new place? What if I'm miserable for a year and a half (or longer!! Let's face it...he may need more time to complete his PhD than he thinks.)

Sorry...this has become maudlin. :sad2:

Anyway, DH has to go to Barcelona in October to present a paper at a conference. Poor baby! :lmao: The university is covering all the costs so he needs nothing more than what little spending money he's going to bring.

I thought that would be a perfect time to take the kids down to Disney (free dining!!) without him. Unfortunately, the university is not willing to pay for that. :rotfl2: I've been saving since our last trip but since our last trip was only in January, I don't have enough.

I'm truly blessed and grateful to have been able to get to Disney three times in the last three years. I just hope I don't have to wait three years to go again!

Love and prayers for the nephew and his roommate's family.

Don't worry...:) I know it can be really sad to leave a house you like so much but remember..it is still only a house!! I'm sure you will be really happy at your new home as long as you are with your family:hug: just give it a try...if your spirits are high everything will be easier!!( sorry I wanted to say more but I'm struggling to find the right words..you don't know portuguese, do you??;)). Anyway I think you get the point...and remember...time passes really fast and when you least expect it, you will be heading to WDW:wizard:. Love, Tania.

I am getting my pictures loaded and trying to load some video to catch us up. My photopass cd is at my sister-in-law's house and will hopefully be headed my way soon. Then I will add those pics as well.

It has been a very exciting week around here. Brooklynn had a great time in Kindergarten. The only person who was upset about her new school adventure was Bella. Bella was at already at her school on Wednesday and Thursday when Brooklynn was dropped off so she didn't know any different, however, on Friday she was with me when I dropped Brooklynn off. As we walked out of the building Bella started crying and pouting "I not like kinagaden!"

Also, in Brooklynn growing up news. The tooth fairy will be visiting our house tonight. Brooklynn lost her first tooth this afternoon (with lots of drama. Really you would of thought I was amputating her foot without anesthesia). We are preparing for her 5th birthday in just 10 days add to all that gymnastics, soccer, and dance starts at the end of the month and I don't know whether I am coming or going half the time.

I'm so glad she is loving school - and poor Bella! :lovestruc What a sweet sister!

YEAH for the Tooth Fairy!!!! Awesome! Was her tooth actually loose on the 4th? Or was she just hopeful at that point? What a milestone!

You are going to be a busy lady with your parties, gymnastics & dance!

:wave2: Hey MeMom and Jill! I'm all caught up now! I knew Brooklynn would ace kindy! She is a trooper! I can always remember that she has two n's in Brooklynn because my middle name is Lynn and that's how I spell it. :)
I am trying so hard to get to Disney in October but airfare is going to have to come down some. I just can't make myself pay over $400 round trip. I will go $250 - $275 but not over that. So until I catch it just right no trip.:sad1: When will the mall open back up? Sarah says she will make the trip with me whenever the next Nashville meet happens.
We have an exciting week coming up next week for us around here. Ty will be staring "school"/daycare Monday. He is the same age as Bella and has always been with me while his Mom works. But, she is going back to college and working part-time now. And I am ready to get out and hit the workforce again. I have been out of work since Feb. of 2009 when the company where I worked for 19 years went out of business. He really needs some structure and peer interaction. He is only with adults everyday and the guys play rough with him so well lets just say he is a little rowdy and has a mind of his own.:lovestruc We live in a small town so we have very few options as far as daycare/schools for his age to choose from. We are going with a church daycare/pre-school because he really needs to learn routine and that the world does not revolve areound Ty.:rolleyes1 I am excited and sad. I need a change and a chance just to be Nonnie and not a full-time caregiver. But, on the other hand it's been me and Ty for almost 2 1/2 years. I think Monday will be harder on me than when my own three went to school. But I have many projects to keep me busy and my Mom to take care of and hopefully I'll find just the right job for me soon.
I can't wait to hear more about the trip. And I hope October gets here fast as it can for you. And I hope this year you get a classroom full of eager to learn and well behaved kiddos to make your year a great one. I know a Nemo themed room will put a smile on all those little faces. And also give you a dose of Disney eveyday at school to remind you of October, Dec/Jan and maybe a spring break trip. So have a great week and pray that Ty makes this new change without to many issues. And as pray for his teacher that she doesn't pull her hair out the first day with the TyMan!;)

Hi friends, I haven't been on here this week....I am sad to have missed Brooklynn's first day of Kindergarden.

Glad she enjoyed this "new" step in her life.
Hugs to Bella for missing her big sissy while she is at another school.

I just saw that they came out with the new "free dining" deal.
Too bad it didn't work for you...I wonder why they blocked out those weeks in October?

Glad you got an AP discount. :)

So..you booked another trip in March/April. Awesome! :thumbsup2
I'm sure there will be someone who will join you.

I really enjoyed getting caught up tonight! :goodvibes

Congrats Brooklynn on loosing your first tooth! Wonder what the tooth fairy will bring you,,,,

I have nightmares about this scene after being stuck there for like 20 minutes once.

She scares me.

I had my share of those type of people. My latest experience was when we were there in May. We got on the bus after leaving Downtown Disney. My mom, my dad, and me loaded the bus and grabbed a seat while DH was folding up the stroller and boarded the bus. We were headed back to Beach Club. After grabbing a seat with a sleeping baby, I heard a comment from behind me. I turned around and it was an older couple. The woman kept repeating "Not another kid! Why do they have to bring them?" I looked around and I was the only one on the bus with a baby. Seriously, my child was sleeping and when she did wake up right before pulling in. She just smiled at everyone. We went to get off at our stop and the lady said "Thank God, their leaving!" (We were the only ones getting off.) It took everything in me not to say something, but my husband had enough. He told her before getting off the bus, "Lady if you don't like kids then don't come to Disney World!" The bus driver and everyone else laughed and clapped as he got off the bus. DH is a very quiet guy (I'm usually the one to say something) so, it must have really bothered him. I just don't get people sometimes. :confused3

After the HS day recap, I decided that you are a better CM for the Great Movie ride than any I've ever been on the ride with!

Then, I read people's comments about a party and a tribute...

Went back and found the party. Once again, super jealous of the fun times in Nashville (and love knowing that all Disers are invited to stop by when in town.)

But the best was the tribute to BrooklynN! It made me tear up and get that catch in my throat!

Memom - You Rock!

P.S.- the disboards need a bookmark option...I know while I am away, I will miss 20 or so pages!!!

MeMom-I just hit a milestone that I want to share with you! I just officially became a "DIS Veteran!" I made my very first post on one of your past reports and have been an avid follower ever since. Thank you for always making me feel welcome. I also want to thank you for sharing your experiences and beautiful family with us.

I'm surprised Jill didn't give them a piece of her mind ;) It takes all kinds doesn't it!

I don't know if she said anything, since I was getting my food. I think she probably just gave them a funny look from being shocked that anyone would say something like that, and then she tool the chairs anyway.

After having to sit there and listen to the chaos while Jill and John were getting their food, I can definitely 'hear' the lady saying that to Jill.

I really hate it when people give the value resorts a bad name! It is all about people's behavior. You don't have to act like a fool.

I totally would have said something though. But that's just me. I wou,d have probably said "and WDW has designated you owner of these chairs?"

People are allowed to be tired and cranky on Disney trips, but it would be nice if they would keep that feeling to themselves and not spread it with others - as much as possible.

Hi MeMom! :wave2:
I actually got caught up last night but it was way past Harper's bedtime so I had to get her to bed and didn't get anything posted.
I really enjoyed the trip down memory lane with Brooklynn as she went off to her first day of Kdg!
No surprise on my part that she has had a great three days. She is just that kind of girl!

Now about those POP trashies. Give me a break. There is no such thing as a cheap Disney trip, even if you stay at a value. I just don't know what has happened to common courtesy.

That's true, even value is expensive. You'd think if you are putting out that much money, you'd try to make it as enjoyable as possible.

Awww... that's so cute. One of the best things about Kindergarten, everyone is friends with everyone... well... until cooties come along :p Hahahaha

Brooklynn will have fun meeting many new friends this year. She'll have her ups and downs with some of them, and some of them will just 'jive' together naturally and become best friends for all of their school days. It is fun to listen to a Kindergartener's perspectives on his/her classmates.

Uggghhh... I hate people like that. I didn't even know people always gave those who stayed at values a bad image. C'mon, you're at Disney World, how much time are you going to be spending at the resort? Also, POP Century is considered to be better than even some of the moderates, maybe deluxes, that's saying something, though it is very nice to stay at a deluxe But I can't believe how those people got angry over those darn chairs! Reminds me of the jerks cutting my sister and I right before we got on BTMRR Loud, obnoxious and rude... you can't go to Disney without running into them -_-

I have read a few 'snippy' comments about value resorts and their inhabitants on the DISboards. I'm guessing those who have said that have run into people like we did, and that is where they get their opinions. Those folks sure weren't indicative of the norms that we have seen, though, thank heavens. :goodvibes

Jill and I were at a DTD bus stop one time, and some people on the bench behind us were talking. One lady asked another about the values, or maybe Pop specifically, I can't remember. The other lady covered her mouth and lowered her voice a little (but not nearly enough that we couldn't hear her) and proceeded to tell her pretty much that that's where the poor people stay, in sort of a sympathetic tone. Jill and I just looked and each other and grinned. I don't think she meant any harm but you could tell she felt genuinely sorry for us. :rotfl: We still laugh about it, because the way she did it, it was kind of cute, not malicious at all. :goodvibes

Nobody who hangs around here is concerned with 'class', but I have read several threads throughout the years that have sort of pitted 'deluxe resort snobs' against 'value resort trash', and they weren't just using those terms in fun - they really meant them.

As for us, we enjoy all the resorts and have met nice people at all levels. We know we're above our heads in some, and we are a better fit for others. That's just like any of us in any outside of Disney event - some feel at home in dress clothes and heels, and others are at home in sweats and t-shirts. No matter what our income or comfort zone in high (or low ;)) society, common courtesy is a nice thing. :thumbsup2 Brooklynn came home talking about the Golden Rule on Friday. It would be nice if we would all just carry that little 'golden ruler' around with us all the time. :)

Don't worry... I know it can be really sad to leave a house you like so much but remember..it is still only a house!! I'm sure you will be really happy at your new home as long as you are with your family just give it a try...if your spirits are high everything will be easier!!( sorry I wanted to say more but I'm struggling to find the right words..you don't know portuguese, do you??). Anyway I think you get the point...and remember...time passes really fast and when you least expect it, you will be heading to WDW. Love, Tania.

And we'll all be here to listen and supprt her through her move, too. :)

You don't seem like you are struggling with your words at all! We definitely understand, and it was nicely said.

Of course, if you want to teach us some Portugese, that will be fun, too. Maybe you could teach us a special phrase - like maybe Have a magical day!

I'm so glad she is loving school - and poor Bella! What a sweet sister!

YEAH for the Tooth Fairy!!!! Awesome! Was her tooth actually loose on the 4th? Or was she just hopeful at that point? What a milestone!

Her tooth really was loose on the 4th. We were skeptical at first, because 4 years old is young to lose a tooth, but sure enough, it was loose.

That's why Jill spelled Brooklynn like that - after my middle name. Makes it kind of special to me.

I think it will still be a while for the mall to open, but the fact that they are opening it is a plus. They had talked about just leveling it. I'll let you know when we have a meet. We'll do it sometime when Dawn and Seth are in town. :thumbsup2

It will be good for Ty to make new friends and to stay busy all day. He'll be nice and tired at bedtime. ;)

I think my students will like the Nemo theme, too. Whether they will be eager and well-behave is yet to be determined. The school secretary did say she owed me a good class after what I went through last year, so we'll see what happens.

Hi friends, I haven't been on here this week....I am sad to have missed Brooklynn's first day of Kindergarden.

Congrats Brooklynn on loosing your first tooth! Wonder what the tooth fairy will bring you,,,,

I think they know people are coming down in droves for fall break, so there is no need to offer a discount. They know I will be ready for a Disney break, free dining or not!

Well, I booked a spring trip. That may be as far as that one goes. I love Flower and Garden Festival after a drab winter. Jill told me I could always go alone, but IF I did that, it would be only for like three days - one day for Epcot, one for Animal Kingdom, and one to resort hop and go to DTD. That would be as much as I would want to do/be without my family, and it would also depend on if there will be other DIS friends there that I might cross paths with for a few minutes here and there, too. If I can talk someone from home into going with me, then it might be more likely to happen. I just kind of held the spot, really. It won't kill me not to go.

I heard that the Tooth Fairy was bringing five bucks for the first tooth. After that, I think it decreases significantly for other teeth.:upsidedow

I have nightmares about this scene after being stuck there for like 20 minutes once.

Does that mean you want us to go back and throw in some more quarters for you? :rolleyes1

If you like Disney parties, you might enjoy seeing my favorite one that we have had. It's on the Two Short, Too Different report, page 68.

We are very glad you feel welcomed here. You are. We are glad we got to meet you guys in person, too, and hope that our paths will cross again on future Disney trips.

Congratulations on becoming a DIS Veteran! We should have a party!!! :dance3:

I will tell you, it really is an honor when someone says that they made their first post on one of our reports. It does make us feel like our whole group - family and DIS friends - is doing the right thing and putting forth the right friendly, inviting feeling here. That's the way we want it to be.

Please don't lump us in with the snobs...
If we had to pay rack rate or even a pin code we would never ever stay at our beloved Beach Club or any of the other deluxe resorts. :sad2:
Trashies aren't limited to value resorts, they can be found anywhere!

You are not a snob, and we are not trashies. We are DIS buddies who live in a Mayberry/Celebration place called DIStown. Marc is out in your backyard putting that cool DTD flowerpot fountain together right now - with the help of some of the other DIS dads. When they are finished, they are coming over to my place to start on another one. :thumbsup2

Aren't you supposed to be doing SCHOOLWORK??? :rolleyes1
You are not going to be Valedictorian hanging out around here!

Heading out to church soon. Looks like a stormy day here.
I need to go get some twine for school after while, but I may put that on hold if it's crazy when I leave church.

Ughhh I definitely dislike annoying people at Disney. We're all on vacation, don't decide that your trip is more important than everyone else's.

Yay for the tooth fairy!!!! :yay::yay:

You think our shared love of all things Disney would bring people together, regardless of where we choose to stay!
I'm pretty sure Walt would be saddened to think there were those who weren't able to be courteous to others whilst in our happy place :sad2:

Marc is actually working on a some of the technical aspects of one of my power points for tomorrow night.
I have my BIG paper written and now three small ones to do. UGH!
No visions of straight As this time around. (so I'm telling myself) I get the raise either way!

Stringbean&Wingnut, I always tell Marc, oh just let them have their fun, we will be back and this is probably their one and only trip.... We just walk away laughing or sometimes shaking our heads.
