Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party Central 2005

Do they show the same version of Wishes during MVMCP or is it something different? Thanks!

There is a special ending. Which the first time I saw Wishes was at MVMCP, so when I watched the regular show, I got some weird looks from family and friends when I was telling them the details of the end ... and it never happened. lol.

:earsgirl: Sorry to sound down about anything Disney, but having been at the Very Merry Christmas Party several times, I can honestly say it has gotten worse every year to the point where we will not be buying tickets for it again. First off, the crowds are ridiculous now. They make it sound like it will be a limited number of tickets sold, so theoretically you should have shorter lines for rides--definitely not true. Last year, we went on a weekday in December, and the place was mobbed. We got on three rides (one being Splash Mountain because it was cold), and stayed for the first parade and Wishes show before leaving (we heard lots of people complaining about the hoorendous crowds as well). Also, the parade you see is not a special one--you could see it other nights at Disney as well during December. Being a Passholder, I don't need to spend an extra $30 to be stuck in more crowds than a normal night in December to get the same parade, Wishes show, etc. A cup of hot chocolate and a cookie that I waited on line for 15 minutes for doesn't help either! Very disappointing! We are going back in 2 weeks, and will miss the holiday decorations and special events this year, but the VMCP is not one of them. Think it through before buying tickets. You can have the same (and more) fun on a normal night in Disney during the month of December, and not have the pleasure of paying extra for it!

That's really not at all true unless you're going like, Christmas week - New Years. You can only see a few shows during the day (VERY few), and no Christmas parade, and no Christmas Wishes until like December 20th.

The reason I was asking...we'll see Wishes at MVMCP on Dec. 1 & we have another MK day planned for Monday 11/28. We were hoping to leave MK on the 28th after Spectromagic to meet family for late supper. So if we're going to see the same show - plus more - at MVMCP then this will definitely work out. Plus we have an ADR for 1900 Park Fare on Sunday 11/27 & plan to watch the fireworks from the GF dock or somewhere similar, so I guess we'll see enough of it. Just didn't want to miss anything, LOL. Thanks so much for the info!

I just bought my MVMCP tix 3 days ago for Nov. 29th. It will be my 1st time going to the VMCP and I keep reading about people might have to choose between the shows or the rides depending on the crowds. I would like to know what "shows" are you talking about?? Are they live stage shows or something like that?? Also, will I get anything in the mail like a brochure or something?? I just printed out my receipt so that we can do will call.

I have a question. I purchased 3 tickets for the 12/11 party. DH is in the military and he came down on orders for that week, so they canceled his leave. Can I get a refund for his ticket? DD and I are still going. If I can get a refund, what is the best way to go about it? Thanks for any help. I'm so bummed out right now. :sad1:

No you will not get any special brochure in the mail. Yes, when you arrive at the park they do give you a special brochure which details the events for the evening.

There are fireworks and two parades.

My family prefers to go on the rides that typically have long lines during normal business hours, there are alot less people at the MVMCP.

You may want to try calling the reservations line, and asking if they will refund the ticket under the circumstances. If so you might possible have to go to guest relations at the park.

I was surprised the other week when my DD and I decided to go to MK for a couple hours after I picked her up from school on a Friday afternoon, know it was a NSSHP night, I wanted to pick up our Annual Pass renewals, once we got there we decided to stay for the party. I have tix for the 28th, and the gentleman at the counter wanted to know if I wanted to exchange those tix. I did not want to - want to go again closer to Halloween, but that gives me hope that under your circumstance they might help you out!

Good luck and have fun.

Oh, what a let-down. Tell your DH "THANK YOU" from our family. He's one of the reasons why we're free to go on our own trips. I just hate that his duty had to interfere with your trip. :(

About the ticket, if Disney won't allow a refund, you could try selling it on e-Bay. I've seen some on there before. If you don't want to mess with that, you might ask them if the will-call desk could sell it for you. Or, you could go TWO nights by trading his in for another night and buying another ticket. I know that Disney frowns on refunds but they did tell me (when I asked while buying ours this summer) that they will exchange them for another night if there's still availability.

I wish you the best of luck and many thoughts and prayers for your husband.

This coming Dec 1 will be my third MVMCP. In 2003, it was really wonderful. My dd and I had a terrific time. The park wasn't too crowded and we were able to do a lot of the attractions as well as some of the shows. Last year we went, Nov 29 (or close to that, a Tuesday), and it was very crowded. We had to make some choices as to either rides or shows.....you really couldn't do both effectively. But, the parade is very different than the regular parade. They do start running this holiday parade nightly, but it is much closer to Christmas time. The Holiday Parade is a big favorite in my family. While there seemed to be many more people there last year, we just went with the flow. We really don't use MVMCP as a time to do rides anyway. It's those special shows that you can't see until much later in Dec. that we like to do.
So....go with lower expectations. The days of WDW and MK being 'empty' are gone. Seems that more and more people are knowledgable about what is going on in WDW and plan accordingly.
Decide which is more important to your family...rides or shows and then make some choices. You can do some rides as well as some shows but it's really hard, if not impossible, to do everything during this 3 hr. period.

goofty ... what shows are different for the xmas season?

Awe, that STINKS! Tell DH :grouphug: from us for all he is doing!

I go on mother daughter trips all the time and we have a blast! Make a thing of it, make is special for her and you!

I now someone else just had this kinda problem. If you call Disney and tell them orders came in, I am sure they will refund you. If you have the tickets, they will have you mail them to them with a note for a refund. Should be ok getting the $ back.

Thanks for the replies and the :grouphug: DD and I went without him in Aug. We had a blast but we really missed Daddy. DD doesn't know about our Dec trip and DH and I were looking forward to surprising her. Thanks for the info about the tickets. I'll call guest services tomorrow. Good night all. :goodvibes

Although I haven't been able to attend MVMCP, my understanding is that this year's show will be an entirely new version of Wishes, completely placed to Christmas music. They did it for MNSSHP this year (there is a great video of it on a competing website) and they've now decided to do it for MVMCP, also!

I would read through these some 130 pages... but I have a pillow calling me right now. If someone could answer this for me, that would be wonderful!!
How busy do you all think the last day is going to be? What kind of wait times for the rides do you think I'd be lookin at (especially the mountains)?
and...
Do I have to buy seperate admission into the MK for that day?

TIA for the help!!!

Thanks for the information about the wristband procedure. Can anyone tell me how it was last year on dec 12.
We will probably see a little of both. We have favorite rides and since this is our first party then experinceing the party would be nice. I have figured out that the party is 5 hours am I wrong?
I can't wait to Mainstreet in snow. Everytime I think about the party that is what I think about. Can't wait to see the Osborne light either this year. Well got to go.

They have a Mickeys Night before Christmas show in TomorrowLand, by Buzz. THere are special singers roaming the streets performing, a very specia Christmas parade. Tree lightings.

We were there Nov 29th too and the crowds weren't hardly anything at all. We got to see fireworks, the parade, and waited no more than 5 minutes for any ride! Wow, the crowds must have been following you :)
