Ok..we thought we were all set to see Illuminations July 4. Now we have more family members joining us on our trip which will be lots of fun. But they plan to see Illuminations another night. Are the fireworks at MGM just as amazing as the ones at EPCOT?

That's a hard one. I'd just see both - Sorcery in the Sky is usually at 9 pm and Illuminations at 10 pm, giving you plenty of time to walk or take the boat from the Studios to the International Gateway. :teeth:

EPC0T, without a doubt. They are amazing!!! While waiting for the special edition of illuminations your able to see most of the fireworks from MGM as well:)

I think it's obvious I'm bias to the Studios (duh) but Epcot is my choice because it handles crowds the best of all the parks and July 4 it will be packed.

Thanks for all of the replies. We will be spending the day in Animal Kingdom then heading to Chef Mickeys at 5:45 for my DDs 12th bday celebration. My MIL and 6 year old will be pretty tired by then so walking from MGM to EPCOT to see both fireworks displays would be MY choice but I'm thinking that won't happen :) We like the fact that MGM has fireworks at 9 so we can get the kids back to the Poly. You know we gotta get up at 8 and hit Magic Kingdom the next morning. BUT Epcot transportation by monorail back will be faster than the bus back from MGM I would think....but I have never been on July 4th so don't know. Hmmmm.......

I was at MGM last 7/4 and it was packed. Make sure you have eaten and aren't hungry cause the food lines were lonngggg. It took us almost 1/2 hour to get a water and I'm not kidding!!!
That being said, I loved Sorcery in the Sky!!!

In a word, no, fireworks at MGM are not as good as fireworks at Epcot. To be quite honest, I found them to be quite underwhelming (this was last year). I think MGM was a nice park to be in for the 4th of July because it didn't seem very busy considering...We had a nice dinner and rode a few rides. However, I don't think the fireworks lasted 10 minutes, they played some annoying "american music", by that I mean just contemporary stuff...not disney stuff.

With that said, if you really want to hurry you can probably still make it to Epcot after the MGM fireworks to catch Illuminations assuming the park isn't at capacity.
