It didn't occur to me until I was done making a video from my latest vacation (linked below for reference) but there are quite a few memory maker/photopass shots we are missing. We took part in a share so our cost wasn't that big but off the top of my head I know we are missing my wife and I on tower of terror separately, Everest (three times), Enchanted Tales with Belle (they scanned my band) and our photo from Space Mnt plus whatever else I just can't think of.

Is tapping my band at the end of each attraction the best way to ensure we get everything? Would we get duplicates since it's automatically go to our account on each ride? The downloading and editing website is HORRIBLE and anything I can do to make it less cluttered or clunky the better.

Yes you would get duplicates. We did that the first year we purchased MM.
But that was because we were also missing pics.
This year we did not tap bands and we are missing pics and have other ppl's photos. Strange

Yeah, thats the boat we are in. We've emailed them about some but our hopes are not very high. I wouldn't mind tapping every time if I knew I had to, just like I used to. But when I'm told I don't need to I don't think it's unreasonable to expect it to work almost every single time.

Same thing happened on our first park day. We completed online check in and was told we could go straight to the parks...no need to activate tickets. So, we hit rope drop at Magic Kingdom and guess what...we needed to activate the tickets. I didn't mind going to Disney Springs the day before, we were already there so I trusted them and we went swimming instead. The CM said, "sorry, it only happens like a million and a half times a day" like that was supposed to make me feel better.

If you can remember the days and as close to the time as possible, you can call and they will search for your photos. As many details as you can remember will help, like what clothes you were wearing, that kind of thing. They were able to find a couple that we were missing that way. As far as Enchanted Tales with Belle, they gave my daughter a little card and we had to go to PP services in the park to get those pics. This was back in November, so maybe they've changed it. I hope you can track them down.

Agreed - such a nuisance

If it's really important to you, tap the band. I'm in love with the ride photos, so I don't take chances and tap everywhere. We shared with family that didn't tap and they were missing ride photos. Guess who got to contact Photopass and track them down... Yep, that would be me tracking down photos for extended family who didn't feel like tapping their bands. If it's a group share with strangers, I bet you won't be able to recover photos because the owner of the entitlement probably won't feel like tracking them down for you. But for family I did it.

So, this is concerning. This will be my first time with magic bands - no hard tickets. Do you normally have to do something when you arrive in Orlando to activate your bands, tickets, etc???

Me again...sorry. Pics are super important to me...so, just want to clarify. When you say, "tap your band"...what exactly are you referring to. Again, this is my first time using the bands....my memory maker/photo pass worked different in the past. Want to make sure we get all of our ride photos. Thanks!

Only if you want to go to the parks before you check in your resort.

We got to orlando on Friday afternoon and stayed with some friends at Ft Wildnerness for the evening. We weren't due to check in to our resort till Sunday but we wanted to head to the parks first so we completed online check in. At one time you had to go to a guest relations type place (Downtown Disney location for example) to activate your tickets but with online check in that wasn't supposed to be necessary, except my tickets weren't activated. So, we lost about 15 minutes of time to get in position for rope drop. Not the hugest deal in the world but I got there at 8:20 (no bags, etc) because we wanted to be positioned somewhere specific and luckily we got it anyway but still a PIA.

When you say, "tap your band"

When you exit each attraction where they have photpass (Everest, Space Mnt, Splash Mnt, etc) tap your band beneath where the TVs display those photos at the exit of the attraction. We would have been happy to do it, but assumed we didn't need to. It our previous 4 trips with MBs we never had any issues like this with our pictures.

Well, whether you get your lost pics or not, your video is fantastic and you have a lovely family. Thank you for sharing it.

WOW your video is wonderful. May I ask, what kind of camera(s) did you use, your photos and videos are fabulous. Did you use a go-pro? You have a beautiful family and so photogenic.

Good to know. Thanks!

I will definitely be doing this. Thanks for the information.

Thanks and yes, you may ask. I use the GoPro HERO4 Session. I've been seeing them for $199 pretty regularly lately. Not the best if you want to take alot of still photos since it doesn't have a display screen but we love ours. We took it on a cruise earlier this year and to Hawaii last month and we really love making those videos for our friends and family to see. So much better than just showing pics and our daughter loves watching our videos over and over and over and over, lol.

As a photopass newbie-- were exactly do we tap the band? immediately when we get off the ride? Where will it be?

I'm sorry you are missing pics and I agree with you 100% on how awful their site for working with your photos is. I'm never sure if I have them downloaded or not, and I love the stamps and borders, but it can take forever to put them together with the site the way it is. I can't help with your question sorry, but wanted to comment that your video is awesome, thank you for sharing.

I agree it's a pain since the "magic" should make it happen. But I'm not in the mood to take chances since I've had missing photos on every trip (before and after Magicbands).

One quick clarification to the info about tapping bands. Seven Dwarves Mine Train does not have anywhere to tap or preview photos. You either get it when it reads your band, or you're out of luck (might be able to get via missing photo request later). Just wanted to clarify for the newer folks who might start hunting at the ride exit. All the others (I think) have previews with tap stations underneath.
