DS and I will be coming in January for Marathon Weekend to cheer on Daddy! He'll already be there with his running homies and they're getting a van from Tiffany.

So we only have to pay one round-trip fare, DS and I will be taking ME to BWV. Does anyone know the order of drop-off from MCO? Is it the same every time?

We had a horrible experience with the DLR Express in July in CA and it has made me extremely wary of trusting a bus with multiple stops to get us to the park efficiently......

There is no order in drop off but resorts that are grouped together are usually on the same bus. Now there is a big difference between DME and Disneyland express, mainly Disney does not operate the one in caliornia but they do operate DME. I have used DME about 7 times and it is great, I used the one in California once and would never use it again. DME is very efficient, you will hear scattered stories of issues it has taken me an hour or less on all but one of my trips and on the one that was longer was about 80 minutes, the average is 70 minutes from deplaning to resort. Try it, it will be fine

Oh yeah....and I forgot to ask: we'll be flying SWA who does not participate in the luggage check-through. I know we'll be getting our own bags from baggage claim; that's fine.

They'll be going on our bus, right? And I can get them as soon as I get off the bus, right? I won't have to wait until who-knows-when for them to deliver them to my room?

Actually anyone flying in, including people flying Southwest can use the Luggage service to the resort. Just use the tags that DME sends you. Going home you will have to take them with you. You can get your own bags and they will go on your bus and you get them when you get off the bus, if you choose to use the luggage service your bags should arrive within 3 hours of check in. IMO the luggage service is the best part of DME.

You do not need to get your own bags.

If you let ME handle them, they will be in your room within 3 hours of check-in.

Southwest does not participate in RAC, which is only an issue upon departure.

I know, but the rest of my party will already be there and checked in so I know I won't be waiting on a room. In that instance, waiting three hours for bags when they're on the bus I rode in on seems a little silly.

If you allow ME to handle your bags, they will not be on the bus with you, they will be transported separately.

No, You misunderstand if you get your own bags from the baggage claim and bring them on the bus with you then you take them from the bus to check in and you don't wait. If you use the tags and luggage service the bags are not transported on your bus they are transported seprately to your resort.

This is EXACTLY what I want to do. Just wanted to make sure it could be done.

Okay...a few notes.
You are arriving on SW (I love SW and fly them frequently), but you will arrive on Side A of MCO. DME is on Side B. Here's the scenario..you will take the tram from your gate to the main terminal. You are on level 3. You will stay on Side A, and go down to level 2 to get your checked bags. Then, back up to level 3, cross though middle of the terminal (not a huge deal, it's about a 30 second trek!) across to Side B, then down to level 2 via the escalators (most likely) and continue down to level 1 on an elevator. It's a fair amount of walking when you arrive on Side A and want your bags. If it were me, I would just tag the checked bags and let DME take care of them for you. Yes, you have to wait several hours to get them in your room, but just put anything you need in a carryon and you can start your fun without waiting for bags to arrive.
Now....as for DME drop off....I routinely stay at BWV. When I was there in April, the bus stopped at POR first, then continued on to BW. When my dh joined us in August, he said the bus stopped at POR first before heading to BW. That may be the most common route right now.
But, I have been on the bus to BW when it has stopped at the YC, then BC, then BW and finally CBR. So, it can change.

Thanks for letting me know about the plan of attack at the airport! I probably would've been wandering around looking like a dummy! :-)

I am still, however, going to get my bags. The walking doesn't scare me. I've conquered bigger airports than MCO with more bags than just my one. I just don't like the idea of going without my luggage for that long especially when I know I'm going straight to the room. DS might get a little whiny about the walking, but he'll just have to manage! We are going to Disneyworld, after all!

You don't have to wait in your room for your luggage. DME luggage delivery is "pre-tipped". Luggage is delivered even if the guest isn't in the room. Airlines sometimes "misdirect" luggage. Your carry on bags should contain whatever you'll need for the first 24 hours of your stay. DME luggage delivery is such a good feature that guests who don't take the DME bus (car service/car rental) continually ask if they can use DME for luggage only. There is a "sticky" that covers this question.

That said some people prefer to pick up their own luggage. You might want to consider a car service. SW baggage claim and DME are at the opposite corners of MCO. A car service will probably get you halfway to your resort in the length of time it takes to walk to the DME desk. A car service will save you at least 30 minutes, maybe an hour or more.

Since you're getting your own bags, you will need to tip the driver.
