May 2, 2009~~~Magical MAYniacs!~~~ 7 day Western....Updated, April 3,2009!!

Only 46 days!! Yikes and Yea!!:goodvibes
I just ran off about a gazillion papers for my Disney online forms (and now I think I only needed a few!) and tried one more time for a Palos ressie (no luck, but I'm trusting you seasoned vets that we may have a little chance to get one once we embark!:yay: If not, then it will give us something to look forward to next time!pirate:
Does anyone have any advice regarding Key West? I didn't book an excursion because I think it might be nice to just stroll around and maybe go to the beach, although it seems as if beaches aren't really all that available according to some websites. Have any of you had a chance to experience Key West much? Thanks for any input/suggestions you might have!:)
Amy
We haven't booked any excursions for Key West either. We plan on just wandering the streets and checking out Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville :lmao: :thumbsup2

We are doing the same, walking around, Hemingway House, Southern most point and Margaritaville!!! I don't believe that there are really any beaches that are that great there....perhaps someone else would know about that. Can't wait ....only 46 more days!!!

I forgot about Margaritaville! I've heard of that several times...
Any recommendations regarding Key Lime pie? I really would hate to have to sample several places to say I've had the best!;)
It sounds as if exploring on our own will be just fine, so thanks again fellow cruisers for the advice!! Can't wait to meet everyone!:woohoo:

I believe there is a place called something like, The Blonde Giraffe, that is supposed to be good. I will try to check for sure.

Key Lime Pie is my favorite, but I still haven't found the perfect pie. However, a character on the Showtime series "Dexter" DID find that pie. :rolleyes1 For me, the pie needs to be tart enough to make my lips pucker. :snooty:

We don't have any plans for Key West either. DW and I went there several years ago and rented some scooters to motor around. Driving a car is not recommended (i.e., don't bother with a rental), due to traffic and a lack of parking.

On the main boards, there is a lady named 'Shirley' who is originally from Key West and she checks the forums quite frequently. Of course, she is the one who sells gift baskets so she has an ulterior motive. Nonetheless, she is usually pretty helpful with KW questions.

It sounds like the Magical MAYniacs are just going to wander around
Key West and check out Margaritaville... or... check out Margaritaville and then just wander around Key West...:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Uh oh, sounds like Key Lime pie and Margarittaville WILL be the shore excursion for the Magical Mayniacs:cool1:
I think as long as we don't over do either, we'll be okay! Believe it or not, I stumbled upon a "tag" on a website where people compare who has the best KL pie...I'll try to find it again and post some of the recommendations. This could turn out to be fun! As far as Margarittas, I don't drink a lot (cheap date according to DH ) but boy do I enjoy a GOOD Margaritta. Very hard to come by IMHO. :confused3
Sounds like Zerog has some good leads though!!:cheer2:
Oh, by the way, does anyone know if Disney cancelled the Banana Boat ride at Castaway Cay? :sad2:

We are going to do our own walking tour also! I heard that Kermit's was also good for key lime pie. I want to try that frozen one on a stick dipped in chocolate!:thumbsup2

Sadly, the banana boat ride is no longer.....:sad2:

Last year, I heard this song on the radio just prior to our cruise date. Driving in to work this morning, I heard it again. Here are the lyrics to Little River Band's "Cool Change." [I added a couple of side notes]

If there's one thing in my life that's missing
It's the time I spend alone
Sailing on the cool and bright clear waters
There's lots of those friendly people [MAGICAL MAYNIACS :) ]
Showin me ways to go
And I never want to lose your inspiration

Time for ...
a cool change
I know that it's time
for a cool change
Now that my life
is so pre-arranged
I know that it's time
for a cool change

Well I was born in the sign of water
And it's there that I feel my best
The albatross and the whales [AND MICKEY MOUSE]
they are my brothers
It's kind of a special feeling
When you're out on the sea alone
Starin' at the full moon
like a lover

Time for ...

Well I've never been romantic
And sometimes I don't care
I know it may sound selfish
But let me breathe the air
If there's one thing in my life that's missing
It's the time that I spend alone
Sailing on the cool and bright clear waters
It's kind of a special feeling
When you're out on the sea alone
Staring at the full moon like a lover

Time for ... [A DCL CRUISE!!]

Laura-Well, even though it makes me sad to hear the Banana Boat ride is no more :sad1: , thank you for confirming it. We were so looking forward to that.
As much positive feedback that I've seen regarding Castaway Cay, I'm sure we'll still have a great time, though!
By the way, I did just a quick glance regarding Key Lime pie (yes, I'm back to the pie! :goodvibes ) and quite a few folks stated Blond Giraffe. There were a few others mentioned, but I'll look more later. :surfweb:
My cousin called me yesterday and said she's sending me several packets of Key West info, so if I see anything of interest, I'll certainly share it with the board.
May 2 will be here before we know it!!:woohoo:

I stumbled upon this video from Sea World and it just made me smile. :)

We all know that Dolphins are smart and playful. But even the pros at Sea World didn't know they were this smart and playful.

We booked the Dolphin encounters in Cozumel and now I am really excited. :yay:

We were, too. In fact, it was one of the things DD really wanted to do.

Wait. Did I tell everyone that the Bat Mitzvah is officially OVER?! ;) Hurrah!!!!! So much work, but now I can think about the cruise and not feel guilty!

Only 45 Days to GO! :cool1:
(sorry, Zerog, I promise that's the only time I'll ever do a countdown, since that's usually your thing.)

Also, Zerog, nice theme song. :thumbsup2

Zerog-Last year we enjoyed the Dolphin excursion at Discovery Cove (than goodness that was the ONE day that was nice during our vacation last year!), and I have to say I was beyond amazed and enthralled! My daughter is a bit reserved showing enthusiasm and I was shocked at how she reacted and Don loved it too! I think you made an awesome choice and will give you some great memories!:woohoo:

I finally decided to book this cruise today :yay:

My DH and I have only been on two cruises which were both 3-nights on the Wonder. So, this is our first 7 night cruise!! I have so much planning to do and only 45 days to get it done . . . I know I am going to have some questions for all of you DCL veterans out there!

Thanks,
Candis
