May 2, 2009~~~Magical MAYniacs!~~~ 7 day Western....Updated, April 3,2009!!

Zerog-Thank you so much for posting those! It just turned very cold here and it warms me up just to look at those temps (plus it adds to the excitement!):cheer2:

We're also hoping to get into Palo's. It looks like it would be a very nice time.
Cdfl-The park you mentioned, is that one booked through Disney?

Xcaret is an exursion available through Disney while at the Cozumel port. You take a 45 minute ferry ride to the mainland to a town called Playa Del Carmen and then you take a 15 minute bus ride to the Park. My parents went there last year said it was an amazing place. All of the photos I have seen have been impressive too. Its a little pricey at $105 a person but it will probably be our only excursion. Its the kind of place that looks like it has something for everybody.

Here is their webpage: http://www.xcaret.com/

Welcome to the MAYniacs, Candis! How exciting to know we'll actually know some of our neighbors on the ship! We're just a "few" doors down from you in cabin 2100. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you for your Palo brunch, too!

Thanks for the weather updates in your siggie, zerog! I've been wondering how much warmer it is in the Caribbean, so now I can check every day!

Zerog, love the new signature!

Nothing to report here today (I'm trying to find more stuff to say to help out with our 100 page goal :)) I'm finding it hard to study when it's so much more fun to plan!

Study, study, study....then you will really have something to celebrate!!!

Good to know that someone else is up this late. We just arrived home, went to the casino tonight, won enough money to finish our basement I think :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Well....except for furniture:laughing:

Good for you...Is this what we have to do to supplement our income or pay for our next trip to Disney either by land or by sea.:rotfl2: :lmao:

cdfl30-Thank you for the website! We have planned the Cozumel Ruins and Highlight tour, but now I'll have to show the family this website! That's the only downfall to shore excursions...everything looks so great!:goodvibes
Well, I guess we'll just have to plan another cruise......

Hi neighbor!! I'm a little nervous about being so far forward due to movement but I'll take my chances. This late in the game I could only get rooms that were either far forward or far aft. Our last two cruises we were right in the middle of deck two and felt very little motion... except for the one night with 15-18 foot seas :scared1: due to a tropical storm nearby. There wasn't anywhere on the ship that you could avoid that kind of movement. Lets hope we have smooth seas for this one!

You are welcome! It looks like a lot of fun, I'm looking forward to it a lot. I don't know if I mentioned this already but I have been told that if you take sunscreen in the park with you, it has to be 100% biodegradable. From what I understand, this is to protect the delicate coral reefs from the chemicals in regular sunscreen. So if you do decide to go to the park make sure you bring the right sunscreen or you will have to pay a premium for it when you get there. I haven't started shopping for mine yet but it sounds like you can either buy it online or at health food type stores.

I am looking for advice for Grand Cayman excursions. Nothing looks interesting so I'm trying to decide if we should either bother getting off the ship... I'm thinking thats going to be laundry day. Thats one of the only chores I can never seem to escape while on vacation :headache:

Your printer and a set of address labels can save you lots of time on the cruise.

Many people type up address labels before they go on vacation to apply to their postcards. That way you and your family have the addresses at hand and you just peel and stick onto the postcard, write your private message, and then send.

Here's the tip - At the end of the cruise you will get color coded luggage tags to put on your luggage. Information needed is:

  • Number of pieces of luggage (1 of 3, 2 of 3, 3 of 3, ...)
  • Stateroom number
  • Name
  • Address (including city, state and zip code)

Make those up in advance on your address labels. Then when you have to pack it will make it a little quicker. Plus by being printed it is easier for the porters who unload the ship to help keep your pieces together. Tags measure 4 inches wide by 2.5 inches tall to help you figure out which size label to use.

An extra tip for scrapbookers. The front of these tags feature different Disney characters. Tags of all colors are available at a table by guest services. Stop by and you can pick up some cute tags for your scrapbook.

Room service is available 24 hours a day for FREE!

For a continental breakfast or your morning coffee you can hang your order outside the door. Or how about a mid-day treat? Don't forget milk and cookies before bed. You can even order a :mickeybar

Before you leave home collect one dollar bills, dollar coins, or $2 bills. Use these for tips.

----------------

My experience: We ordered several (chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin) cookies about an hour prior to our departure from the stateroom to the show (as Disney Dreams). The cookies come on ceramic plates wrapped in cellophane. We brought those plates and some napkins to the theater since food is allowed inside. It made for a nice snack during the show.

One warning - it can take up to about 45 minutes for food to be delivered to your stateroom. Plan ahead. :thumbsup2

Zerog-Thank you for all of the wonderful tips!

Everyone-Does any one else have the late dinner scheduled? This was all that was available when we booked, but I think it will be okay since we don't have any little ones with us, and I'm sure it has it's advantages but I'm not really sure what they may be?:confused3

You're welcome. I try to provide information that may not be so obvious to the average bystander. :3dglasses

We have main dining this time. The first cruise, we were given late seating and my DD fell asleep at the table. :cloud9:

We have late dinner, too, Amy. Both Dave and I like the shows and with late dinner, we see the shows when we're not overstuffed and starting to feel sleepy. That's all either of us need--a big dinner and then a dark theater. We'd be snoring in no time! ;) And yes, there are fewer kids at the late seating. However, as a grandma-wanna-be, I kind of miss the kids. I truly enjoy watching them reacting to all the Disney magic. Pirate night revealed a disadvantage to the late rotation, though. I was still too full from dinner to enjoy much more than admire the midnight buffet spread!:rolleyes1

Zerog............I love that you now have all three weather reports on your sig....I will be checking them daily!!! :goodvibes

Only 38 more days before we leave, and I know that it is even less for at least one more person:confused3

The excitement factor is going to start going through the roof!
