May 19 - 24, 2014 San Diego to Vancouver

Did anyone on this cruise book any of the new 2015 itineraries today? Just curious :goodvibes

We booked the 11-night Norway and Iceland and the 12-night Baltics for a B2B. I am so so excited. I have been waiting a long time for DCL to go back to the Baltics. We will be traveling with CaliforniaGirl09 and her family, hopefully for both!

I don't think we have decided on a meet time or place but we do need to get on it. I was worried 3pm might be too early. What does everyone else think?

Three o'clock is a good time because it is right before the lifeboat drill and most people are already on board.:)

3:00 sounds good to me as well. I plan to be on board as early as possible. Those shrimp on the lunch buffet will be calling my name. :thumbsup2

Welcome one and all

Been watching inbound flight pricing and snagged what I think is a good deal and got our hotel booked for our 2 pre nights and finalized online check in

now to just wait 48 days

:)

Marla, I still need to book hotel for one night when we disembark in Vancouver as we don't fly out until the next day. I don't want to book Pan Pacific again, would like a better rate. Do you mind sharing what you found?

We are flying home the day we get off of the cruise so not staying in Vancouver - sorry

We are staying 2 pre nights in San Diego before the 5 night cruise

Regarding the measles outbreak on the West Coast, East Coast and in Vancouver--I went to my Dr. today to see if I needed a vaccination or update, etc. She found out from a previous titer that I have no immunization to measles in my system, so she recommended the MMR shot (Mumps, Measles, Rubeola).

Since her office does not treat children under 6, they don't have the vaccine, so I have to go to a Passport Health facility (a place that gives you shots for Dengue fever, etc., when you travel).

Called them and they say that with my "advanced age" I may require the shot and a booster, which have to be given 30 days apart. So, I am scheduled this Thursday for the MMR and they will determine then if I need to go back for the booster before I fly out on May 17th. She said it would be $105 for the shot and $45 for the office visit.

There was an interesting story on Good Morning America this morning talking about how many more cases of Measles there are in California right now than this same time next year. California (and some other states) does not require parents to immunize their kids against Measles.

My Dr. also said that there are some Pertussis outbreaks being reported (not sure just where), but she recommended and gave me a Tetanus-Pertussis vaccination.

I also got loaded up on all my drugs, including generic miclezine, and some things for just in case. Just thought this might be helpful to anyone that may not have had to think about immunizations recently.

One more thing--she also said regarding Norovirus and being on the ship--make sure you wash your hands with soap and water and rinse thoroughly. She said that hand sanitizer does not destroy the Norovirus

Have we officially closed the FE group yet, or are we waiting for the 30-day mark? We're starting to gather supplies and want to make sure we have enough.

I can't remember if I was re-vaccinated against MMR after I had my 1st baby....I had new mommy brain  and haven't recovered from it since. I do know that i got the Tdap at the time and pertussis. Luckily DD (age 5) just got vax for MMR again to get into Kinder... anyway thanks for this post. Grandpa is coming with us on the cruise, and I might ask him to update his MMR shots.

So I received a reminder email today from DCL and the picture it showed was of pirate night, not to mention below had a tab I could click. So I'm confused. There isn't a pirate night? If so that's false advertising and disney should correct that. There was a note on the link about Pixar Pals but noted it was for the Alaska cruises.
