May 19 - 24, 2014 San Diego to Vancouver

Aloha,
I just found out about DIS forum. : ) Our family of 6 will be going on the Disney Wonder from San Diego to Vancouver. We will be flying in from Oahu, and hitting up Disneyland first. This is our first cruise, very excited!

What is a mixology class? I messaged to sign up for FE. Is there anything else I need to know about? ~Thanks

I was told when I called Disney Cruise line, that there will be a Pirate night on the Disney Wonder 5 day from San Diego to Vancouver, but was not told about a formal night. Any info would be helpful. : )

I'm new to the group too, there seems to be different information out there regarding both formal night and pirates night. So I would be curious to know the answers

It seems that each time someone has called DCL that there has been different information given and information on this sailing and the one following has been kind of slow in coming. DCL didn't even have the correct pier in Vancouver listed until we questioned and questioned and questioned again. So all the information out there may not be on the same page.

What we think we know right now is no Pirates night but there will be a Pixar night and we have heard there will be fireworks (but I will believe it when I see it); we are arriving at the Ballantyne Pier in Vancouver and not at Canada Place as was originally reported; and recent e-mails from DCL has said there will not be a Formal night (there usually is not one on sailings less than 7 nights) but there should be a "dress-up night". The rest of us are "in the same boat" as you as far as knowing what is really going to happen.

I hope this helps and hasn't made everything more confusing. :goodvibes

And I have come back to add that you cannot hold me to any of this as it is subject to change.

5 weeks now! cant wait, wondering if maybe they will play Maleficent in the theater, don't they sometimes play unreleased Disney??!
We are staying in Coronado a cpl days and taking the ferry over right to broadway pier. Hoping for sun sun sun, San D can be gloomy in May. Traveling with my pirate fairy freak daughter, age 5,
and on a mission to go to dynamo donuts in SanFran, anyone? donuts?

Welcome Aboard ::yes::

I have never heard of Dynamo Donuts--is there one near the pier?

Unless we change our minds - we will just get off the ship and re check back in and re board - spend quiet time on the ship before the next cruisers board - it would be nice to see Vancouver but figure we can just look at it from the ship,

Sweet! I love all those movies! I didn't know Need for Speed was Disney related? I haven't seen that one yet.

Hi there, Just wanted to give a shout out. I know I'm a little late, but I'd like to join the FE group. I will email specifics.

My family's from the Vancouver area. It's me (the mom), my hubby, & 2 sons, ages 4 (turning 5 the day we sail into Vancouver), & 6. The boys are so excited!!!

I have been dreaming about this cruise for 2 years now, & only 34 days to go! I had no idea about this board until I saw FEs on Pinterest a week ago! (I know, where have I been?)

Will there be a group meet? We don't know anyone going on this cruise. So far I've read 15 pages of this thread & learned so much already, lol!

Thanks, Shannon:)

Posted on FB page but posting here too.
DH is interested in having custom pins made for our cruise. He is wondering if people would buy one for cost ($2). You have to order 100 of them, so we were wondering if folks would be interested.

I would buy 3 pins! (Started working my way backwards through the thread! Lol)
:goodvibes

Anybody else notice that DCL is now offering *GT fares on this sailing? Maybe there is some hope for an upgrade at the port... :cool1:

Welcome Aboard. So glad you found us. This thread has lots of information, but it will take you a while to get thru the whole thing. I have added you to the roster on the first page. Check out that thread and you will get a better idea of who all is on the cruise from the DIS boards. That thread also lists that there is a meet at 3:00 in the Promenade Lounge.

If you mean sales on this, I did. My hubby was pretty perturbed that we booked so far in advance, just to see better cabins & cheaper prices a month before!!!

True, but it is more important to me to have the cabin I want, which isn't always an option when you wait for the better deals. Motion sickness is my issue, so I need mid-ship.

Does that help? All three cruises we've been on, I've always fought it a little, but the last one (from Vancouver to LA) had really rough waves, so I had to take something for it. I took what they gave us on the ship. I've been warned that the last days could be similar. Have you ever needed seasick meds? If anyone has any suggestions what to get, I'd rather buy it ahead of time, lol, than struggle down to medical, hahaha!
