When you have final details, would you be sure to have them in the DIS Navigator so we can have them on board? John and I are looking forward to doing this.
Hang on, what? I've missed something here. Where will the Dis Navigator be available? Sorry if I've missed something obvious.

Got your form submission for the Chocolate tasting just fine - looking forward to everyone having a good time on this one!

If anyone is still interested, the form is HERE

We're up to 36 people now - once we go over 40, then persons 41-50 will be put on a waiting list, but once we hit 50, we will schedule another class - LOL!

So keep those submissions coming!

Did you get our chocolate tasting request? Sometimes I have issues using my iPad when filling out forms.

It is simply a compilation of the activities and details listed on page one of this thread but in PDF form. That way people have a clean version to print or just save to their iphone/etc as a pdf. Will be ready by May 15.

ETA: The "where" it will be available - hoping to be able to just upload here as a pdf file and post on the facebook page. Then people can download on their own to save where they wish or print on their own printer. This is not the same as the DCL Navigator the Magic will have each day.

I'm finding so little time to prepare for this trip these days but I did manage to squeeze in a lens purchase as I'm excited too about the photo walk like Birkner.

I still have to get a uncut-able camera strap. I figure I'm going to use the SLR in Barcelona no matter what but will try to keep it safe. And switch memory cards often. :goodvibes

I got the Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4 DC Macro OS lens. Happy with it so far but I've only played with it a little. I like the speed of it. I hope it'll compensate some for my amateur-ness. ;)

I was wondering if anyone has been to Madeira in May before. We plan to take the kids to the beach for the day, but I'm getting a little concerned that it may be too cool?!

I haven't been, but I see a large range of temperatures at:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Funchal

When I looked up weather info to add to our calendar on post 1, here's what I found:

Tuesday 28th (Madeira)
ashore 10:30 a.m, aboard 6:45 p.m.
Avg High/Low: 70/61F, Sunrise 7:02am / Sunset 9:08pm

We were there during September 2011 with higher temps, and while I don't recall it being cold, even then it wasn't 'swimming weather' IMHO. Of course, we all know how weather changes :goodvibes

Sure did - you are good to go!

We are now up to 42 - so we only need 8 more to do a second class! LOL!

Pac Safe makes one which we have. Camera strap

However, I have heard of a new twist about camera theft in another thread.

"Ooh and the latest craze around some tourist destinations is SLR lens theft - OFF YOUR CAMERA whilst it is round your neck - They talk to you and release the lens and off they go. Again, never any malice (as in violent behavior) from the perpetrator, just opportunity, so those of you with SLRs, maybe don't have them around your neck?"

i still need cabin numbers for FE exchange from the following, if any of you guys have received your cabin numbers please let me know. I'm still waiting so I know others will be too.

Missandrea

I sent it to you a couple of weeks ago and you put it on the google doc for Team Mickey already. ;)

Unless people want it later in the cruise my final (?) proposal for sunset walk is the 22nd. Sunset estimated at 7:14. Meet at 7 Deck 10 aft behind Palo on the outlook?

If we wait until around the 28th (Madeira, sunset will be around 9pm). Soooooo if we want to save it for later in the cruise, than the 27th might be better(except no evening moon rise) since at least early dinning will be well done and over with, just us late diners that would be "inconvinieced". Kinda like the 7pm since that hopefully be later enough for early dinners to managed to scarf down their meal and run and would give late dinners some time to go shoot before they go eat. But wouldn't hurt my feelings to much if I once had to eat buffet for dinner ;)

Maybe we can do two of them. I would love to do a sunset walk with the moon somewhat full. I am in for the 22nd

I'm not going to lie, the pickpocketing thing has me freaked out. Hubby and I bought some new underwear that has pockets in the front to keep money and credit cards. I just bought a new crossbody bag to keep random, unimportant, non-expensive stuff, plus a little bit of spending money. I just figured I'll make lots of trips to the bathroom to get more money out when we need it. So I'm not as freaked out now that we have those, but the camera thing does scare me. Hubby decided to buy this weird hand strap thing that he saw someone using in WDW. He used to wrap the neck strap around his hand several times but this little thing does it instead. I'm still a little worried, but we are going to clean our SD card every night so if it does get stolen, we won't lose all pictures. What sucks is, we've already decided we aren't speaking to anyone. If someone grasps their chest and falls to the floor, we are pretty much walking over them because at this point, after all of the horror stories I've read (my fault for reading), we can't trust anyone. I hate that. :( My dad was pickpocketed in Greece and my brother in Vegas. I don't want to follow in their footsteps.

On another note, I've gotten SO much accomplished these last 10 days!!! :cool1: Got DD a semi-formal and formal dress and a pair of shoes that goes with both. My packing cubes arrived, I have almost everything for FE's and even finished the younger kid's gifts today. We got the underwear with pockets, crossbody bag, a generic looking FE from Ikea (we are going generic since we plan on adding to the family after this trip), tiara and boa for Champagne Girls, dual voltage hair dryer, dual voltage flat iron, and a blouse that I found that is red with white polka dots...and reminds me of Minnie Mouse...so I had to buy it. :) I'm sure I'm forgetting some things but I've got to cross SO many things off of my list! And I'm expecting several things in the mail over the next week (although I can't remember what right now) so it's like Christmas! :dance3:

I wanted to sign up but the tentative date at the moment is the day of our Palo Brunch, and as you probably know, I can't walk out of that and eat anything for several hours - If there is an option for another day I'd sign up.

Is the sign up a commitment? If so, when will you likely be confirming dates so I know if I can be there :)

The mixology tastings are May 20 and 22. I think you can request one date versus the other since we are now split into two (as long as they both have the minimum number).

The chocolate tasting class (with beverages) is hopefully May 27 (not on Palo brunch thank goodness!). We are trying to keep the calendar on post #1 updated at all times - even showing when something is "tentative" or being proposed to DCL.

Hopefully Beverly will see your post, or send her a PM. More details are here. Also - I believe it is a commitment because the name/reservation number are sent in when she submits the info to DCL for private events, and automatically charged to your onboard account (no changes/refunds). She will be able to confirm that info as well. :thumbsup2

Secret Mickey:

I have send out the Secret Mickey assignments today, so if you haven't received an email let me know.

Please if you at time of signing up for Secret Mickey didn't had a cabin # or don't have a stateroom number yet, let me know your roomnumbers as soon as you get them.
Your Secret Mickey need to know to which stateroom the need to deliver the gifts....

Thanks

WooHoo!!! :cool1: Thank you so much, Yvet!! I'm super excited to start purchasing and making some things!

I'm not going to lie, the pickpocketing thing has me freaked out.

That is exactly how I felt last time. We were extra aware of our surroundings, did all the suggested things, etc. We loved Barcelona though! Knowledge is power. Being aware helps immensely. You are taking all the right precautions. :thumbsup2 Just like in life, no 100% guarantee, but you are doing the right things IMHO.

One thing that did help me feel better was that our first experience in Barcelona, we were with others. We had the red-eye flight but several of us were on the same flight together and went to Placa Catalunya together before splitting up to get to our respective hotels.
