Mari, so sorry you lost your job! :sad1: Definitely sending prayers and positive thoughts your way that you will find something else soon -- maybe even better than this one. :goodvibes And you still have your family WDW GG trip coming up, so that's good to look forward to...and if you find the perfect job, maybe there could still be May pixie dust for you, who knows?

RF, great trip report! Love your pics...you and your DH are so cute together  And cute kidlings, too -- Bob's cousins? And way to go on the promotion!

Sea, I've gotten gas here for 3.85 -- isn't it funny that we think of that as "cheap" now? :lmao: That back to school knife set...uh...weird for sure. I'm thinking maybe it was like a kitchen essentials set for college students setting up in a dorm? I've seen kitchen mega boxes with utensils and stuff...

OK, for those who have mentioned homeschooling...here's a little known Katiebell fact: I homeschooled my three boys for seven years. :scared1:  Yep, that's right, I was a bread-baking, granola-making, tie-dye wearing, barefoot, hippie. homeschooling mama -- made homemade play dough, did science experiments on my kitchen table, dragged my kids to every museum in Sacramento and San Francisco, you name it. I taught a multi-grade level algebra class for 7th-12th graders, :teacher: tutored algebra and writing for individual students, and wrote articles for homeschooling magazines. LOL...so now ya know...

LOOK AT MY TICKER!!! :dance3: :yay: :goodvibes

RF- Kennywood looks great..a stop on our next trip to the BURGH... because we will be back..haha
When I posted my pics on Facebook for friends to see, they couldn't believe how great Pittsburgh looked... prepare for a rush of southern ontario residents..haha

I might bring a group of friends to the Grove City Outlets as well this winter... as we usually take a shopping weekend away somewhere, and the fact that you have NO tax on clothes...may seal that deal!!!

Also I wanted to let you know... we too lived with my husbands parents fro a few months after we got married... they made us the offer to stay with them for a few months to save money, and it was an offer we couldn't turn down.
No shame in accepting the help at all. We wanted to spend our money on a mortgage , and not rent in someone else's pocket, so it worked out for us. We had enough money to make an offer on a house we liked within 9 months.
I hope it works for you and your husband as well.

Hey MAYers! :goodvibes

Sprinklers are fixed! Yay!

I wonder what the trouble will be today.

NC - Hope you didn't find any trouble today!! :rotfl:

How are you doing Mari? Are you still working or is the office closing right away? Maybe you can enjoy some time off with your DD for awhile. . . :goodvibes

Hi everyone! Yesterday went much smoother around here.

It is raining today. It was 67 degrees when I took my kids to school. This is not a normal August for around here.

Mari - How are you? Let us know what is going on. Ditto to all of Shelly's questions.

What's everyone up to today?

The kids are having a bunch of friends over in about an hour! Wish me luck!! :rotfl:

It's a beautiful day here. Sunny and going to be about 80! :goodvibes

Hello mayers :wave2:

Sorry to hear about your job Mari

RF - I love Kennywood! I have a picture of me infront of the George was here statue, I thought that was the most random thing to have in an amusement park.

Shelly - You're so luck you get to go back in January :goodvibes My mom and I thought about going down for a quick 4 days trip to use up old passes but I have to get a cyst removed in december so that nixed that idea.

Hey Kait! :goodvibes Long time no "see"!

Yes, I am very lucky to be going back in January! Just 5 months from today!!

Sorry that you have to have that done in December. Hope it's nothing serious.

We've missed you! :grouphug:

RF - Thanks for sharing the Kennywood pics. I have to go out and visit that park sometime. I was thinking about doing a "East coast" rollercoaster/amusement park tour with my sons next year and Kennywood was on my list.

Kait - Hello! Hope your surgery goes well.

Mari - What's going on with your job? When does/did the office close? Any news?

NC - Have you seen or heard from Jo? We might have to send you out on a search mission to make sure she is OK. LOL!

Shelly - 5 month from today? Congrats! :cool1:

KB - Wow! One month before your trip! :cool1:

Hi all.... well friday is my last day of work.... they are going to pay us until the second week in september then we can collect unemployment. But we have no more telephones or computers at the office the guy came today to disconnect everything. all i have to do is make sure that everything is shipped out to the main office.... I think i'm going to take at least 1 month off and just hang out at home then look for a job again. But i'm wondering weather i should stay in the same industry or try something new.... but if i do something new i will take a dramatic paycut. we'll see what happens....

Hey Mari! I'm so sorry this is happening to you. It really stinks!

Hopefully you can take the time to think about some things that you'd like to do and then decide from there. I know that I don't really want to go back into banking. It has become so cut throat and sales orientated, it's just not for me anymore. But if I do something else I won't make near what I was making before. . . So who knows. . . I guess for me any income would be better than the one I have now!! :rotfl: I am thinking about looking for something part time once school starts. . .

Anyway, good luck! :wizard: The MAYers are here for you! :snooty: :grouphug:

Mari - I guess today will be your last day of work.

Sea - I have not seen Jo. I am going to Razorback game, Labor Day week up in her neck of the woods.

Jo - Don't make me come looking for you.

My dd has a teacher who is new to the school this year and just back to work. I think her youngest is in 1st grade. She needs help getting a library for her classroom. I have been scouring eBay for "lots" of books and sort of heading up a book drive for her class. This is very time consuming.

I didn't get to do any of this last night:

:happytv:

:rotfl:

Have a great day!

Mari -- thinking of you today, hope it goes well, that you get to really enjoy a little of your time off, and that you find an even better job very soon... :goodvibes You mentioned changing to a different industry -- what have you been working in?

NC -- have you thought about checking garage sales for kids' books? If the people have children that are the right age and they've just outgrown some, you might get a deal on a box full. I went to a garage sale once, saw a huge box of books and wanted two or three of them. The people said, "oh come on, please take some more of them..." I offered $5 for the whole box, and it was toward the end of the day, so they said "sure!" I took out the three I wanted, took the rest of the box to the local used book store, and turned them in for $30 of credit there! :rotfl2:

Friday, Friday, Friday, and I'm so glad :dance3: Hi Sea, Shelly, RF, Kait, Jo, Lake :wave2:

Have any of you guys been to WDW in September? We already had our vacation time scheduled months before DH told me to plan this trip to WDW. We often take time off in late September anyway -- it's near my birthday, kids are back in school so vacation destinations are less crowded, the early fall weather is usually nice, etc. But Orlando in September? I dunno...I'm a bit worried about that -- heat, humidity, hurricanes, and every other bad "H" word you can think of! :scared1: With the unpredictability of hurricanes, I am really glad we brought trip insurance, just in case, but if I had to cancel our trip due to bad weather I'd just be crushed. We'd probably plan a quick re-route to DL instead, since we can drive down there in one day, but still, it's not the same. I want to see and do so many of the things we missed at WDW last time because DH got sick. So...any words of encouragement?

Crossing my fingers that in 4 weeks, we will have landed safely in Orlando, checked into POFQ, and be on our way to Epcot to explore Mexico, China, and the American Pavilion (we missed all of those last year), ride Maelstrom (it was closed for renovations last year), and end up at Chefs de France for dinner :goodvibes I have another full day and a half (at least) planned for Epcot, so we can play in FW and revisit the rest of WS too :thumbsup2

Here are some good vibes that it is wonderful in September and the "H" words are gone.

I am going to check out garage sales. Thanks for the tip. There are also used children's clothing consignment sales here. They are HUGE. Duck, Duck, Goose and Rhea Lana. I am going to those as well. I won an auction last night that I got 100 books for less the $1.00 each. They are great books. Newberry Award Winners, etc. I can't wait for them to get here. :goodvibes

I am going up to the school today to help with the book order, etc.

Mari - Have a great last day! Don't forget us. I hope you can find something you like soon.
