March it WAS, May it IS!

So surgery was yesterday and the doctor told Dale that it was a large tear, but he was able to repair it :cool1:. Now that said, I have been in excruciating pain :sad1:. I have never hurt this bad in my life!!!!!

I have a machine called a Game Ready, it is like a large electric ice pack, that I have to use several times a day.

Dr. Cockrell gave me tylox for pain and keflex antibiotic. I will go back to him next Friday for my first follow up appointment.

Amanda and Dale went with me for my surgery. After they got me home and settled down Amanda left. She had to leave because they were going to Atlanta for the weekend. The Voice was holding auditions there this weekend and she was going to try out. One problem with that is she wasn't feeling well yesterday and she was coughing. This morning, just a few hours before her audition, she woke up with a scratchy voice . She had to cancel her audition :sad1:.

Oh well, there goes my chance to see Adam Levine.

I love Maroon 5!!!! They put on an AWESOME concert.

:cool1::woohoo::love: 47 DAYS :cool1::woohoo::love:

WHAT??? I had no idea that Amanda was such a talented singer! :) How exciting that she had an audition scheduled, but I'm sorry she had to wind up canceling.

NOW-about you---Glad your surgery went well and that the doctor believes he was able to repair all the damage. I know you are probably in a lot of pain right now, but you need to rest and let Dale take care of you! Hopefully you'll be feeling better soon! :flower3:

She has a very pretty voice. She sounds a lot like Amy Lee of Evanescence. She was disappointed, but they still had a good time.

I'm glad it is over, and I have to say, if I ever tear it again, or tear my left, it will be a major feat to get me in surgery again. This has been the worst pain I have ever experienced :scared1: :sad2: :sad1: :scared:. Everyone kept telling me it was going to be bad, but I kind of blew it off. I figured it couldn't be that bad; my knee wasn't. Boy was I wrong :scared1: :sad2: :sad1: :scared:. I am taking 2 tylox every 3 1/2-4 hours, and it just barely helps. This is something I would not wish on my worst enemy.

I am hoping it heals quick because I am ready to get back to work. I know when we go to Disney I won't be riding very many rides because I won't be able to stand any pulling, pushing, or bumping around on it!!!!!!

Wow Dana! I hope the pain goes away soon and you heal quickly!

Oh my goodness! Would Amanda have met Adam Levine when she auditioned? It's too bad her throat was bothering her. That always happens to me. If I really need my singing voice, it goes away. :sad2:

Thank you . I will be so glad when the pain at least lets up some.

She would only have met him had she made it to the show, but it was just producers at the audition. They wouldn't let anybody go to the audition with those trying out. I just had to pick on her about it :lmao:.

Wow..I have been having the most severe pain I have ever experienced in my life, since my rotator cuff repair :sad1:. I can't even put into words how bad it has been; I have been pacing the floor crying. Pain meds did not even take the edge off. Well, today I was able to take the dressing off and get a shower.....YAY :woohoo:!!!!!

With A LOT of help from Dale I was feeling human again !!! When I put my sling back on almost immediately the pain was back :sad1: :scared: Just about 10 minutes ago I googled the Breg Sling Shot 3 to see if there were others who had similar complaints. What did I find you ask? I found that my sling had been put on me wrong after surgery :scared1:  :scared: :headache:!!!!!!!!!!! I rethreaded the sling per directions on their site, and again almost immediately my pain decreased from a 9 to a much more tolerable 4. Now I am wondering if damage could have been done by the sling being applied wrong and me wearing it that way for 4 days!?!? The swelling in my fingers is going down and the numbness in my hand is better. I swear if something can go wrong it will go wrong for me!!!!!

Are you freakin' kidding me? They put the sling on wrong? Dana, you have the worst luck. :sad2: At least you have the sling on correctly now and the pain is lessening so that is good. And, I agree, getting to take a shower and actually feel clean makes you feel so much better.

I know, right? Like I told you in our texts; when I called for the pain med refill I was fussed at. Since I fixed my sling I have cut my pain meds down by about 75%. I still can't lay down to sleep, but I was able to get several hours straight last night :cool1:.

Seriously? So you've been wearing this sling incorrectly for four days? Dana, you are having some rotten luck!

Amazing how a shower can make you feel human again! It does a lot for lifting your spirits. Hope you start feeling better soon! :)

Yes, it has been the biggest mess since day ONE!!!!! I talked to a good friend of mine, who works for another doctor in the group, and I asked her who puts the sling on the patients post-op. She said that someone in the OR puts it on after surgery not the doctor.

I don't want anyone to get in trouble, but they really need an in-service on how to apply post-op devices!!!! My friend is going to talk to Dr. Cockrell's nurse and let her know what happened.

My pain has been at a much more tolerable level!!!!

Sorry Dana, I haven't been on too much, did see that the sling was on wrong. I was mad enough for all of us!! But, I am glad it's feeling better. I hate hearing anyone in pain, and believe me, I know what you're going thru!! There's a surgery to "help" my shoulder blades, to relieve some of the pain, but the people who have gone thru it, say it's horrible in the recovery stage. It's called scapular fusion, since you got that medical mind and will probably look it up LOL anyways, glad you're feeling better, now hope to get it to start healing!!

Thanks Christie . I don't know why I was surprised; I should have known everything couldn't go right for me :rolleyes1. I know I wouldn't have this surgery again.

I have an appointment with the surgeon in the morning :scared1:.

Had my first post op appointment today, and things went well!!

Dr. Cockrell showed me the arthroscopic pictures of my tear, and it was a HUGE tear :scared1:. It looked to be roughly the size of a quarter. He showed me some bone spurs that he had scrapped off too. I asked him how many anchors were used and he said two with two different sets of stitches. The outer stitches were removed and steri-strips put over the incisions.

I started my passive physical therapy today too. My next appointment is in two weeks and the doctor said after that appointment I will start more in depth PT.

I can't speak....I feel so bad for everything you're going through and have gone through! I am praying no additional damage was done by the sling being put on incorrectly! Think of you often and hoping recovering comes quickly for you:goodvibes

Thank you Jacquie:hug:. When I mentioned the sling fiasco to the doctor he didn't say anything, so I guess it will be OK.

I'm glad your pain has gotten better! How is your passive therapy going so far?

Thank you Alicia! The pain is worst when I wake up. I am doing well with the PT, there are a few exercises I can do on my on, and I push it a little more than Dale is willing to....:rotfl2:.

Just checking in on ya. As I said in my text, I can't believe he's already started p.t. but, like we both said, they shove you out the hospital door before your eyes are barely open now-a-days. :sad2:

I guess it is about time I started posting our plans:rolleyes1.

We are at 38 days today!!!!! :cool1:  :woohoo: :yay:

Oh one thing before our plans; I went to see the Hunger Games last night, and it was pretty good!

OK that said, on with the plans! I decided we needed a countdown calendar for this trip, and since I can't drive to Home Depot right now, I found some Mickey and Minnie heads online and printed them out.

2012-03-27_08-38-14_763.jpg

I know, I know everyone is so jealous of my artistic talent :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:.....NOT. Anywho, I downloaded the Disney font and printed out the header and numbers. It literally took me all day to make the thing since I am basically one handed, and the hand I do have ain't my good one :sad2: :rolleyes1. I went with 35 days because I didn't want to wait for the 30 day mark.

So now, FINALLY, is day one of our trip..................

May 4th is our driving day, and since we weren't sure if Dale could get the whole day off or not, we will be staying off site this night. We will be staying at a La Quinta on International Drive. We will have Niko with us so we had to find a pet friendly hotel. Now that said; we have stayed at one of the LQs on I-Drive before, but not this one.

Here are a couple of pictures from Tripadvisor

We like LQ for three reason.
(1). They are pet friendly.
(2). They have a free breakfast. And..
(3). They are affordable!!

We are planning on leaving our house at about 6AM. We will go to a drive thru at McDonald's in Pensacola or Crestview for breakfast. It takes us about 8 1/2 hours to drive down to Disney so we should be at our hotel between 3:00 and 4:00PM accounting for the hour lost.

After we get checked in, and put Niko in the room, I am planning for us to go to Dave and Busters for dinner. Now notice I said I? Well, Dale and Dallas are saying we should stay in the room, rest up, and order Flipper's Pizza :rolleyes1.

If it isn't too late, and we aren't too tired we may ride over to DTD and just walk around. I want to get to bed early because Saturday we have to take Niko to the kennel, go check in so we can get our tickets and maybe, just maybe unpack the car.

Very cute countdown calendar! I haven't even thought about doing one for our trip yet but your post reminded me that I need to. Hey, I think I'll tell Lacey to make one for her and Jesse.:thumbsup2

I'm so happy to hear that ya'll are getting to leave earlier than expected. That's always a good thing. I wish we could leave earlier but my boss keeps me until the very last second.
