March it WAS, May it IS!

Great parade pics! I haven't been to a Mardi Gras parade since Lacey was young. The parade here isn't very big and it's nothing but a bunch of drunks so we chose to skip it. If there was a private party like you were invited to though, I'd probably go.

Thanks for sharing those photos!! That parade looks like a lot of fun- everything is so colorful & it looks like there were tons of people there!
So when will Dallas be starting football??:) That's so awesome that he caught that ball all the way up in the balcony with one hand!

WOW!!! Lots of fun!! There were TONS of people from LA at Disney last week as well. I think half the state!! ROFL I can't believe you only got 72 more days....well, probably 70 by now!!! I can't wait to see you, and spend some good time with ya'll!!!

I wonder if any of my bosses have pants like that they wear on their days off? :rotfl:

Enjoyed your parade pictures!

I think if they do they probably don't wear them in public :lmao:.

I am glad you enjoyed the pictures. We had a really good time!!

Thanks!! The last time I went to Joe Cain day was in 1988 when I was pregnant with Amanda . We used to take Amanda and Tyler to the Floral Parade, but after Dallas was born we stopped. Two years ago was the first time Dallas had ever been to a Mardi Gras parade.

We really had a good time at the party. We didn't eat much food because we had eaten at the pizza place, but the desserts were yummmmmmm.

You are very welcome. Mardi Gras is a 3 week party around here. I used to go to several Mardi Gras balls every year, but it got to be too much after we had 3 kids :rolleyes1.

Dallas says he doesn't want to play football:sad2:. I was sure he would change his mind eventually, but he hasn't.

We did have tons of fun!! We took several of our Disney trips during Mardi Gras season too to get away from here. One time we were watching the parade at MK and the family standing next to us was from La. and they said they did a house swap. A family in Orlando wanted to go to Mardi Gras and they wanted to go to Disney so they swapped out houses for the week. I asked if they knew the family and they said they did not, that they went on the internet and found a site for that sort of thing. I don't think I would feel secure doing that :scared1:.

I can't wait until we get down there. I have had the blahs lately and I need something to cheer me up!!

OK, I need some advice. I made an ADR at Rose and Crown for a 7:20 dinner. I want to try and see Illuminations from the patio there. Has anyone ever eaten there, and was it a decent meal? Do you know if they will allow Dale to order a hamburger at dinner time(they have it on the lunch menu)? Dallas will be able to order special because of his peanut allergy. He usually just gets a grilled cheese sandwich though. I am thinking of getting the fish and chips. Is the fish cooked kinda hard? I can't stand to bite into mushy fish...........:rotfl:.

I am getting more excited about the trip, but not sure I will be able to do all of the walking without getting a wheelchair. Dale and I went to the flea market Saturday and my knee was KILLING ME after. Depending on when I have my surgery, I may still be wearing my immobilizer on my arm.

I spoke with my WC rep this afternoon and she said she has not heard back from the doctor yet. She said she would call them back and see if they can hurry up and get me an appointment.

I had the fish and chips there about 4 1/2 years ago when my sister took us there, and the fish wasn't mush, the breading was crispy, but the oil they used had a weird taste. My mom had the bangers and mash, and she enjoyed it. I think Chris got a steak...?? I don't remember LOL I just remember the weird oil taste on the fish. Now, granted I haven't been back,, and it has been quite a while ago...so things always change!! So go for it!!!

If the oil tasted funny it could be that it was old, or maybe it is the type they are using? Anyway, I may get the bangers and mash, that sounds pretty good to me.

I just want to eat somewhere we can watch Illuminations without having to stand around for hours.

Oops, somehow I missed this post. We ate dinner at Rose & Crown in 2009 and we didn't care for it. The food tasted like it had no seasoning on it and that's a big no-no for somebody who lives in the South. It was too plain and we left there saying that we probably won't go back.

When we ate there, there was no burger on the menu so Hunter had to order fish and chips and he ate about three bites before he said that he was done. We ended up buying him a hot dog back at the resort.

We did request that we be seated on the patio so that we could watch Illuminations but we were at one of the tables near the top and the canopy would have kept us from seeing anything. They have a small area roped off on the side where they allow guests from Rose & Crown to stand and watch Illuminations. The area was small and we were smooshed in their like sardines in a can.

Amen, sister! We like our seasoning here in the south. PLUS, the only fish my bunch will eat is catfish! :rotfl:

Catfish is our favorite fish too! We've found that the way it's prepared varies from State to State though. Hunter ordered fried catfish in Helen, Georgia and the breading wasn't cornmeal and it made the crust on it odd.

Amen again!!

Yeah, catfish is what we usually eat. They do have a beer battered fish at the hospital sometimes, and it is pretty good. Not sure what kind of fish it is.

Not much planning for Disney going on right now; pretty much have that all done. I have an appointment with the new Orthopedic surgeon on Wednesday and I am hoping we will get the surgery scheduled, done and over with!

I think I posted about giving my sister Wanda a house warming party last month? Well, at the party we decided we were going to start having a family get together once a month. We decided that it would be to celebrate the birthdays in that month. We had our party for March yesterday as today is my birthday and next Tuesday is my niece Angie's. I took a few pictures(don't know why I didn't get more)of our party.

I don't know what happened to my pictures I took of Dallas, Tyler and my friend Brandi :confused3. Anyway we had a taco bar with all the fixin's, chips and Angie's award winning salsa!! Of course the cake, punch and ice cream. Amanda ordered the cake from Target and it was SOOOOOOOO GOOD. It was a marble cake with whipped cream icing.

I got some awesome gifts too. I got some makeup from Avon,a really pretty pair of earrings, a floor lamp, a pair of Coke lounge pants, and two AWESOME Mickey shirts. If you look at the picture of me and Angie you can see Mickey's ears on one of the shirts I got. It is an Alabama Mickey shirt..........ROLL TIDE ROLL!! And the other shirt is Mickey with a boom box and it says "Kickin it old school".

Next month is Linda, Amanda and Tyler's birthday month and Linda wants to go out for Chinese!!

I can't believe that I missed your gosh darn birthday! With Lacey being home and me volunteering to do whatever I need to do wedding wise (my niece is getting married this Saturday), I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off.

So, I guess I'll post the birthday wishes now:

:bday:party::jumping1:

We used to have a birthday party every two or three months for my entire side of the family....cousins, aunts, uncles, sisters, etc. It was always so much fun celebrating the birthdays and being together. It looks like ya'll had a wonderful birthday party!

Oh I almost forgot something. :cheer2: for finally getting an appointment with the new doctor! Text me after your visit and let me know what they tell you.

Very fun birthday get together!!!! Glad you had an awesome birthday girl!!!

Oh, and I'm giving my old guy a calendar with my days off and available...so no more changing!! LOL Just kidding!!! :)

Thank you girl, you don't worry about forgetting anything. You wished me a Happy Birthday now :).

I know you are super busy with your niece's wedding and over the top happy with Lacey being home. You are one awesome lady!! You do so much for your family and never seem to get too frazzled!!

I love having our family get together . It seemed as if we were only getting together when someone passed and we said that wasn't a good thing.

I am nervous about my appointment, but I'm so ready to get this over with. I am hoping he will say "Let's do the surgery this Friday!!" I know that is wishful thinking, but I can hope......:lmao:.

Thank you, and like I told Lisa, you didn't miss it, you just told me :goodvibes. We did have a lot of fun. There are a whole lot more of us, but that is who showed up. The taco bar was so good because we had all kinds of good stuff. We had turkey and beef meats, and all the good veggies. You would have had plenty to choose from!!

I'm glad to be getting this going again. I want to get this finished!!!

Well I went to my doctor's appointment today and I will be having surgery next Friday, March 16th. Dr. Cockrell, my new surgeon, seemed to find it strange that Dr. Roca(my previous doctor) let my shoulder injury go on for as long as he did. He asked me when I hurt my shoulder and when I first reported the problem to Dr. Roca. I told him that I let Dr. Roca know about it on December 5th. He then asked me "And when did you have the MRI?" I told him January 31st, he was surprised that it was such a long time AFTER my first complaint!!

After looking at my MRI he came back into the room and asked me if I had ever had shoulder surgery? I told him "No" so he proceeded to explain the procedure. He said if the tear does not have excessive muscle involvement then he can make two small incisions, for the arthroscope, and make the repair in that manner. He then went on to explain that if he gets in and finds that there is more damage he will have to make a large incision and use a graft to hold everything together so that he can anchor the muscle back in place. I seemed to get the impression that the large incision and graft is most likely what I will have to have. He seemed to go into more detail about the open repair, than the arthroscopic procedure.

I will be in a immobilizer for at least 6 weeks post-op, possibly up to 8 weeks. After the 6-8 weeks of allowing the muscle to reattach and heal I will start PT :scared1:. I am NOT looking forward to PT AT ALL!!!! I am still very upset that Dr. Roca kept blowing my complaints off like they were nothing. I seriously think he hated the idea that he could be wrong. It is for that reason, among others, that I requested another surgeon.

When I left his office I went by my hospital to let them know what was going on and about my surgery. My nurse manager said that even though she wasn't wishing it on me, nor was she saying it would happen to me, but everyone she knew that had rotator cuff surgery had to be in the immobilizer for 8 weeks followed by 12 weeks of PT :scared1:  :sad2: :sad1:. If that is how it turns out to be for me; I will be off work until August :scared1:.

I've already told you that I believe it's a bunch of bull malarky that this hasn't been dealt with in a more timely fashion. It's just ridiculous!

At least now, you feel like you are in good hands and this new doctor seems to know what he is talking about. Poor thing, I know that you aren't looking forward to the PT. You certainly don't have good memories from your recent stint with PT do you?

I'll continue the prayers that the surgery will go smoothly and will not have to be the most invasive one, that the Lord place his healing hands upon you and that you are better sooner rather than later.

Yeah, I'm feeling much more confident with Dr. Cockrell. He is one of the best sports injury specialist here so he deals with torn rotator cuffs all the time.

No, I didn't have a good experience with PT, and I know it won't be any better next time :sad2:.

Thank you so much for the prayers, I can sure use them.
