March 13th 2011 Fiesta time on the Wonder!

My group says thanks a million. Let me know what the plan is! We can meet at 10:30, where on deck 1?

Deck one is where we exit the ship for excursions. We could meet at the aft elevators....there is a bit of a lobby there, and then just exit together through the aft exit. Does that work for everyone?
Say at 10:30, aft elevators/stairs?

Let me know! So looking forward to this excursion!:cool1:
I was told to wear pants/comfy shoes and make sure to apply bug spray.
Is everyone bringing US cash....or pesos?

I'm actually feeling slightly overwhelmed.........Also, over the weekend my son had a small trampoline accident (I hate those things). I have been back and forth all week to Children's hospital. He has a spinal compression fracture. It sounds worse than it is. He can still do DL this weekend, but no roller coasters. .......So much to do so little time.

Dramamama!! I am so sorry! But I am selfishly happy that someone else has that feeling of being overwhelmed! It doesn't help to have an injury on top of life in general! Hope your son is feeling much better!
Ask anyone, and they'll say that I never get stressed, I'm always 'up' but I'm just feeling overwhelmed with soo many school events going on, we homeschool and people complain that we're not 'socialized' enough...oh my goodness! I don't have a down minute between now and the cruise! The night before we fly out the girls have a dance performance meaning we'll be out late, they'll be sacked..we've got three tournaments going on..one of which I'm the director and one I'm a coach...I have research papers in my writing classes I have to grade weekly and stay up on..I'm just afraid when I get on the ship I won't be able to get my mojo going...or I may just go Stephen Tyler on the ship and start cranking up the falsetto scream in karaoke!

:mickeybar maybe a few mickey bars will get my mojo going! :)

If any of you have extra days to give me, I'll take a couple! :) I cringe everytime I see that number of days to sail going down! :)

Tara

I'm actually feeling slightly overwhelmed. I think it is because I leave friday for a 3 day weekend to DL with 20 students and my family. Then we come back and 19 days we leave for the cruise. :scared1:

Also, over the weekend my son had a small trampoline accident (I hate those things). I have been back and forth all week to Children's hospital. He has a spinal compression fracture. It sounds worse than it is. He can still do DL this weekend, but no roller coasters. He is so upset, Indy and TOT are his favorites. But he said that at least he's going to be in DL. That is better than school any day.

So much to do so little time.

:flower3:
Hope things get better.......compression fracture. Yikes.

Greetings,

First post on this board and we are sailing with you all! Looks like we will be in good company with some other Arizonans. I have a few questions that maybe someone could help answer.

1. Cabo -- What do you suggest for activities here? I've been to cabo with my wife on a Carnival cruise and we really were not all that impressed. And, now we will be travelling with our 3 kids (9, 7, and 4). So, many of the fun activities are off-limits for us. I see folks have posted about the Krakenhut pirate ship but is there enough time to make that tour?

2. Cabo tender times on Tue 3/15: our documentation says we are in port from 11:15 - 5:00 but there is now a Kids Swim Dolphin adventure that can be booked via DCL starting at 10:45. Now I'm sure the cruise line is correct but what's up with these times? Does anyone know the actual times for this day?

3. Cabo 3/18 -- We had wanted to reserve the Cabo Resort Beach Getaway excursion through DCL. It is showing as sold out for us. Anyone know which resort is used and if you can buy a day-pass directly from the resort? Or, can anyone suggest another resort for day pass swim/beach/kids activities in Cabo?

Thanks....

Hi and welcome!

For one day in Cabo, we are doing the DCL excursion that combines a boat and land tour. The boat goes by seal island so we chose that...my youngest is 5.

The other Cabo day I'm leaving the 5 year old onboard in the morning (it is really early, she is staying with a friend) and taking the three older ones on the DCL horseback ride.

If the excursion you want is sold out, you can also check while onboard, sometimes people cancel, or check shoretrips.com, I love them.

Welcome to the boards! I have a 9 year old as well so we were limited on our excursions. We are doing the dolphin swim the first day in Cabo. In PV, we are doing zip lining through Los Veranos. I could not book this through the ship due to his age. For the second Cabo day, I think we are just going to beach it.

For the excursion times, it is my understanding that the 10:45 time is what time you meet on the ship and then you get one of the first tenders. I could be completely wrong but from reading other reports, I think this is the case.

I check everyday trying to change my Dolphin Swim time to an earlier time. I am hoping we can do this on the ship as well. I was successful on my last DCL cruise to get an excursion we wanted that was sold out online once we boarded. Hopefully that will work out for you as well.

Meredith

Just a note: The beach excursions are not sold out, they have been cancelled. DCL call all of us with reservations and told us last week. :confused3

Wow, there are a lot of Arizonans coming on this trip! :goodvibes I have been overwhelmed myself with my DH fundraiser that is on the 5th, and having to finish papers for month end in my 3 offices. DD birthday is the 1st too, and she is having a small birthday party I need to plan for! Once the 5th comes Ill be able to breath. It is going to be a wonderful regrouping cruise and back home to reality. Once we get back, DH starts his treatment for 8 weeks.
I did go and buy lots of summer clothes for the kids yesterday. I sure hope it is not cold.

I believe it was just the "Beach Break" excursion that was cancelled, as we're still scheduled to go on Cabo Resort Beach Getaway. DCL did inform me that the resort location may change if it is too full. The resort is the Villa del Palmar. I really hope it doesn't change- it looks nice!

Since there are so many of us from AZ going on the March 13th Wonder Cruise I think we should meet somewhere in Phoenix 1st. Maybe for coffee or a drink. I figure, why not get a head start at becoming friends so we can recognize eachother right away on the ship. Anyone interested?:dance3:

Welcome Diamondback01

Welcome Diamondback01

Some of us met a few weeks back for dinner and that was fun! I know right now our schedule is crazy, but if you set something up please post the info and I will do my best to get us there!

Let me know what is a good time for you and I will work out the details :)

We are signed up to do this excursion as well. But after hearing of the times it is taking people to get a tender in Cabo we're almost thinking we will have to cancel. The meeting time is 8:30 and you have to take a water taxi to the Marina that the Buccaneer Queen is located at. We are watching the reports of tender times closely since we only have to cancel within 36 hours to get a full refund. I really hope we can go because our kids are stoked for this excursion.

I am not real concerned with this as they know we will be with Disney Wonder. I have not contacted the company, but I suspect they know how to manage this since every cruise ship that comes in to port has to tender. I seriously doubt they'll take off too quickly without cruise ship customers given that likely a large bit of their business is coming in on the Wonder!

The time changes are making me a little nuts...

In Puerta Vallarta, is local time behind ship time, or later? And with Cabo?

So confusing. Even with the med cruises there was only one port that didn't match ship time and that was Tunis...

Okay, just to clarify...

Puerto Vallarta is central time, so ship time will be an hour ahead...so the 8:45 AM time we can get off is 7:45 in Puerto Vallarta, correct?

Cabo is Mountain, meaning it is 2 hours before ship time, correct? So the 7:15 embarkation on the 18th is 5:15 in the morning in Cabo? Is that right or am I time zone challenged (very possible, I am mathmatically challenged for sure).

Some information for those who desire it.

Los Angeles is in the Pacific Time Zone (0)
Cabo San Lucas is in the Mountain Time Zone (+1)
Puerto Vallarta is in the Central Time Zone (+2)

Once you board the ship, you will switch to Mountain Time (advance your clocks 1 hour) and will stay there until you disembark the next Sunday (info from the recently posted Personal Navigators).

On the most recent trip (the only one we have info for so far) the ship does NOT change time zones when it docks at PV, so local time will be 1 hr different than ship time. Does this mean that the excursions you booked will be 1 hour different? I don't know.

I do know that posted arrival and departure times are always in SHIP TIME. I would imagine that excursions booked through DCL will reflect Ship Time start-end times.

This is something we need to ask returning passengers tomorrow, so we can get a basis for comparison.
:

According to this post, once you board the ship you will live on Mountain Time. And I would assume that is Mountain Daylight savings Time since time changes on 3/13.

So, when in Cabo, the shore will match ship time. When in PV, shore will be one hour ahead of ship time. (They do practice daylight savings in Mexico, right?) So, if you get off hte ship at 8am ship time, it is already 9am shore time. (I think I have that right, anyways.....)

I think I will be asking the shore excursion desk when I get on the ship just to make sure. Don't want to have my tomes all screwed up.
