Thank you so much for the response, need to get this project done before we leave in 22 days. Plus gave me an excuse to check the board while at work. Thanks again. Kathy

According to this post, once you board the ship you will live on Mountain Time. And I would assume that is Mountain Daylight savings Time since time changes on 3/13.

So, when in Cabo, the shore will match ship time. When in PV, shore will be one hour ahead of ship time. (They do practice daylight savings in Mexico, right?) So, if you get off hte ship at 8am ship time, it is already 9am shore time. (I think I have that right, anyways.....)

You know, I was even dumber than I thought...because I was thinking the ship was on Port Canaveral time :rotfl: not California! I'm no good at this kind of thing...give me currency exchange and I'm all over it but times...eh.

That is not good news for me in Puerta Vallarta...I have a whale watching at 8 AM that I REALLY REALLY wanted to do:(.

I have time on Sunday, February 27th?? What does everyone else's schedules look like for that day?

I will make time on that day. Where would you like to meet? Maybe Tempe Market place or someplace centrally located?

Time change is confusing.....but it's my understanding that when we arrive in port, and it says 7:15 arrival, it's 7:15 in that port. Our clocks need to change( our watches and clocks in the stateroom) but arrival to the the city is the time in that city.

Am I mistaken?:confused3
So if you have an excursion booked for 9, and we arrive in PV at 8, we have an hour to get to the excursion. Correct?

Anytime we have gotten off the ship and ship time is different from local time, there has been a large sign alerting you to that fact and also a clock showing ship time. Just be sure you set your watch to ship time and you will be OK!

Welcome to the hunt neighbor!
Our family is booked.

Yeah!!! it is freaky how much we are mirroring you. Same pre-hotel, both secret port holes, same hometown of course, I'm not going to be a bit surprised if you are on our same AA plane coming and going. Now same Kraken Hunt. Funny.

I am not real concerned with this as they know we will be with Disney Wonder. I have not contacted the company, but I suspect they know how to manage this since every cruise ship that comes in to port has to tender. I seriously doubt they'll take off too quickly without cruise ship customers given that likely a large bit of their business is coming in on the Wonder!

I was also very concerned if we would make this excursion in time too! So worried I called Cabo San Lucas tours yesterday to ask them some questions.

The "meet time" is 8:30 am....the first tender isn't until 7:30...people not on DCL excursions don't have first access to the tenders...that can take quite a while...you also have to take a water taxi to the meeting place.......I was afraid that spelled disaster.

The lady from Cabo San Lucas tours called the Bucaneer Queen operators to research. She came back and said that is would be tight but that we would fine.

Her first assurance was even though the meet time was 8:30...we really only need to be there by 9a. If they tell people 9...some will come 9:05, 15, 20 which would be a big problem. If they tell them 8:30....there is cushion.

She also said that in talking with the operator she was told that much of the whale trip was Disney Wonder Passengers.... so they are going to be monitoring our arrival, etc.

Finally, she said that once we tender off the Wonder to the marina...we have to again "tender" by taking a water taxi ride to the Bucaneer dock...but that it was only "like a 2 minute ride." Her quote.

I am still anxious about it, but keeping the ressie.

She said they do plan to pull out at 9 or very close after. She did say to make sure we could get on the earliest tender we could.

Hope this helps ease some worries.

I agree with what BigRed said...when we were in Tunis there were a lot of notices, ship time was an hour difference than Tunis. We did a DCL excursion so I didn't worry about it. I am worried in puerto vallarta, I am going to call them tomorrow. I know they have a 1 pm which I originally thought would be cutting it too close, but if ship time is an hour earlier it would be noon, so it would actuially work out better.

On another note, I finally booked my return flights, got a $150 flight on the 21st. I still don't have hotel for Fri, Sat, and now Sun the 20th:)

Thanks for this info. This is much more helpful than the info we got. My wife emailed them and below is the response. Between $10 and $20 for the water taxi? Is this tourist pricing subject to negotiation? :)

Our boat it’s in front of where you are. To get our pier is walking through the marina to the door 1 behind Hotel Hacienda (25 min.). If you want can take a water taxi
And cross faster. The cost between 10 and 20 usd.
....Regards, Fernando

Im lost! We have a PV excursion that is booked for 9:30 THEIR time. What time will it be when we arrive BOAT time? 8:30 or 7:30. Docs say 7:30 but what does that mean? so confused now.:confused3

Everything I have read on these boards say that ship time will be one hour behind PV time. (Ship time Mountain and PV on Central). So, if the ship time is 7:30 when it arrives, it will be 8:30 local once you step foot on the pier. At least that is my understanding from reading (now multiple) posts on this subject.

I would guess the ship likes it this way in case folks lose track of time, ask a local for the time and then they are given an hour cushion to return.

Okay, just to clarify...

Puerto Vallarta is central time, so ship time will be an hour ahead...so the 8:45 AM time we can get off is 7:45 in Puerto Vallarta, correct?

Cabo is Mountain, meaning it is 2 hours before ship time, correct? So the 7:15 embarkation on the 18th is 5:15 in the morning in Cabo? Is that right or am I time zone challenged (very possible, I am mathmatically challenged for sure).

I hope I can post this link.
http://www.timetemperature.com/tzmx/mexico_dst.shtml

This is referring to Daylight Savings Time in Mexico. It appears that most of Mexico does observe DST but on our old schedule of changing clocks in April and November. Only border states/cities (total of 10) have received permission to change to the US new time table.

So the way I take this is that we will change our clocks ahead/forward one hour in California etiher night before or on Sunday morning, before boarding the ship, so the US and Cabo will then be on the same time at that point. So we won't change our clocks for Cabo or "Ship Time".

The ship does not change it's time for Puerto Vallarta, we are to stay on Ship Time which will be one hour behind Local Time. So if ashore time in PV at 7:00am Ship Time that is 8:00am Local Time.

I hope that makes sense and that the link posts.

I have time on Sunday, February 27th?? What does everyone else's schedules look like for that day?

On Sun Feb. 27, my DS is performing at Matsuri. It is the Japanese Cultural Festival. It is a free event at Heritage Square, downtown Phoenix. It has amazing Japanese performances and booths. It might be a great place to meet up. DS is performing at 10:30 on the Taiko stage (Japanese Drums). Just listen to the loud booms to find it.
