Magic Kingdom on December 30?

Hello!
I was considering going to MK on the day before NYE so we can see the fireworks without the crazy NYE crowds!
My question is, I know MK will still be crowded, but how much less crowded is it? Is it okay if I plan to only spend my second half of the day here? Or does MK have a history of going through closures this day??

I will be at WDW Dec. 26-? and I am trying to decide whether I should head home the 30th or brave WDW for New Year's.

I was there on the 30th this year: AMAZING fireworks. The most crowded time we encountered was getting stuck where Frontierland turns into Liberty Square as the Christmas parade passed by. Absolute gridlock like I've never seen before as people were trying to go in many directions. Even at park closing, most folks are going the same way-- OUT!

I don't recall reading of MK closing due to capacity issues on any 30th in recent memory.
