Magic Bands 101

the MB are coded to enter the room where you have your reservation; I would talk to the desk clerk when you check in, they should be able to adjust things accordingly - I think it is easier to do it in person than dealing with reservations

I rented DVC points from a DVC member and have two reservations linked to MDE for the 10 people in my family. One reservation is for a two bedroom villa at BLT and the other is for a studio at BLT. Initially, the DVC reserved the 2 br for my DH, my kids and my in-laws and then the studio is reserved for my BIL and his two kids. But, we really wanted my BIL and his kids with us in the 2 br and my in-laws in the studio. Can my in-laws use their magic bands to access the studio reservation since the reservation is linked on MDE even though their name is not on the reservation? Or can we request additional KTTW cards at check-in to allow them to access the studio and vice versa for my BIL? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I would Definitely call WDW. Your magic band is connected to your profile on MDE and if your profile or your BIL or your inlaws profiles are connected to the room doors, then the others won't be able to get into the rooms. And now, with the added possibility of bypassing check-in at the front desk, there is a concern (only that at this point, since we really don't know how that's all going to work) that you won't know the problem exists until you get up to your doors, with all your luggage and somebody can't get into their room. One thing for certain; make every effort to get it straightened out before you go to your rooms. When friends and I went this past March on our DVC points, we had two separate rooms. While they were down the same hall, the two rooms were a few doors away and across the hall from each other. I'm sure your inlaws wouldn't want to have to ask somebody in the other room to let them into their room, every time they wanted in.

If i booked thru AAA will the bands be sent to me or to my AAA office? I am 61 days out Can I customize the bands already?

The bands will be sent to you. You have to go onto MDE and make sure that the mailing address is yours and not the AAA office. You can customize the bands now. I think I customized mine 145 days out.

Not sure if this was ever addressed but in regards to those limited edition star wars bands - I purchased some via Amazon but was just told by Disney help desk that they cannot sync it to my account because it was already synced to someone else's thusly making it purely decorative for the moment. Just some warning for those who think about purchasing these. I'm sure the same rule applies to anyone who is considering buying a secondhand magic band.

Yes, this came up when MBs were first implemented. Some people saw them for sale on eBay and were wondering if they could use them for their own vacations. The answer was no. The bands do unlock something on the Disney Infinity game though, so many people buy second-hand bands for that purpose.

I tried searching and reading this thread, but could not find the answer. I have reservations at both POP and Dolphin because I can't decide. I have to cancel one soon. I already received my Magic Bands and also my 'card' tix and have made all FP+ and reservations in MDE. If I cancel POP, will I still be able to use my MB for park tickets and FP+? I realize I will not have room key and credit card linking for it as dolphin isn't a WDW resort. I do not want to lose my FP+ reservations. I think that part is ok as it is linked to my id. Just wanted to doublecheck.

So, will my MB work for anything if I cancel POP?

They bring over a scanner and scan your band. Then you put in your 4 digit code.

Another (possibly silly) question...
I have to mail my mom and sister's MBs to them since the whole set was sent to me. If I take them out of the box and put them in a mailing envelope, the scanning that the post office/UPS does wont affect the bands in any way, will it? Thanks!

Is it the same finger scan system as before magic bands?

Suggestions to make entry/ use go magic bands easiest? Such as wear band on wrist opposite the hand used for finger scan?

Any special concerns on the initial use of the bands and getting the finger scan set up correctly?

Thanks! I just want to get my party of five through the gate as quickly and easily as possible.

No noticeable difference if any in finger scan. As before, the best thing you can do is remember which finger, and it helps not to press down too hard.

ETA: Yep! Just went in and double checked. Go to MDX, go to My Profile, click on Payment Methods, and then scroll down to the bottom of the page. The bottom section is called "On Property Purchases." The second part of this section says "PIN Settings." Click! (I don't know what it says where you click since ours says "reset PIN" since we already have one set )

Hi! We haven't visited WDW in about 18mos, so pre-MB. But in the last year DLA (Anaheim) has been requiring you to show ID when charging on your room card. This has been a hassle for my son who does not yet have a driver's license. My question is, does WDW require you to show any ID when charging on the MB?

I've been twice using MB and charging to room without needing ID. You will however need to enter your PIN which can be set up during online checkin or when you checkin at your resort.

Thanks for the info! The change at DLA has been a real hassle. I figured WDW had it figured out with the new MB, but I wanted to double check.

Can I buy a Magic Band and not link it at the parks? I want to get one in August for someone that is going on a trip with us in October (we are staying off site). I have a profile created for him on my MDE and he has a MNSSHP ticket assigned to him (no regular ticket). Is that enough to link it if I am required to do so?

Additionally, can I get and link a Magic Band for a Passholder that is also on my MDE? I won't have his annual pass (he misplaced it) but again he's on my MDE. He has a Magic Band already but wants a second one.

I am Going to DW in August. can I have someone that will be there next week, buy the Frozen magic bands for me, if I give them the magic band information off of MDE? I heard that you can't purchase them without them being activated right there.
