With all the new changes in packing/flying, my mother says everyone is checking more luggage and that pick-up is taking much much longer..like an hour she says. Not sure if this is just rumor she's hearing but has anyone noted longer wait times for luggage..specifically at MCO?

Thanks

Can anyone report more details? How long is it taking?

re: DME, we always do a grocery stop. We have 2 littl ones so we like to do a grocery stop. I'm still reluctatnt to chance waiting 4-6 hours for my luggage. If the carry-on restrictions were not changed I might consider it.

It is taking at least an hour. Some may be getting it sooner but the volume of bags has increased.

I observed luggage pick up on several occasions last week. The luggage wait doesn't seem much longer, than in the past, at MCO. U.S. Air is the worse at getting luggage in, but the have always been slow. Delta works the fastest that I know of. I saw luggage coming out for Jet Blue when there were only 10 - 20 people around the carrousel, meaning the whole flight hadn't got down. In the past few weeks I have waited with passengers for luggage maybe 10 times and have not noticed any extra wait times on the luggage. I will be more aware of the luggage wait times at MCO, just so an ugly rumor doesn't get started. With the luggage that Disney picks up luggage should be no problem compared to the past.

I have only waited an hour when the luggage was lost or the passenger put the Disney tags on the bags and thought they were going to take their luggage out themselves. That happened two or three times at the most. The average wait, currently, is about 15 minutes after you arrive on the baggage floor.

Not sure about others, but, my luggage was there within 15 mins. of my arriving at the pickup area. I was flying SWA and that was on 8/27.

I can't speak for MCO, but the luggage at IAD on a few recent trips was quicker than in past; my home airport was about the same.

Thanks. I saw someone ask this previosuly and all the people that had ACTUAL experience picking up their luggage reported no or minimal increases.

I don't trust the media etc about reports on this because I think they tend to blow things out of preportion.

I have not heard anyone who has actually flown (esp on here) waiting an hour or more for their bags so I'm hoping this is all media hype that my mother loves to grab on to.

DME would have to help since none of their luggage comes through.

I flew AirTran a few weeks ago to MCO and was pleasntly surprised that our luggage got there just a few minutes after we did. On my return on DL the luggage was also off in a reasonable time.

(Checking the luggage in Atlanta however took about 40 mintues. No real problem at MCO on DL)

38 minutes from the moment we got to the gate and stopped to my luggage with a priority label coming off the belt yesterday around 1:00 pm. Sold out flight out of CLT on US.

That's the first time I've checked a bag in probably two years, the last time it was over an hour.

Don't forget, during inclement weather, luggage operations at OIA are often suspended or delayed...

With Florida weather being that it's raining on one side of the building, and sunny on the other side, it's possible that luggage is on the rainy side, and guests see the sunny side and wonder what's taking so long.

The luggage operations are suspended only when there are thunderstorms and lightning in the area. Just raining doesn't bother them. All luggage operations are suspended DME and others because the employees don't need to be on the Tarmac when it is lightning. Usually during the summer most storms are thunderstorms with lightning involved.
