lovinaz's "getting her act together" journal

I made it back safe and sound! I was SO tired! The morning we left, my hotel room phone rang (just once) at 4:40am! I was sleeping like a rock, too. So that woke me up, but I thought surely I had imagined it. Then it rang again at 4:42am! Just once! I got up, went over to the phone, and my cell phone, which had been charging, said "please wait" or something weird, instead of the "charge complete" I was expecting. I went back to bed and the phone rang AGAIN at 4:52! WHAT THE HECK??? I tried to go back to sleep, but I gave up at 5:15 and called home and soaked in the tub. At breakfast, I found out that they had a couple power outages, and for some reason my phone rang every time the power came back on. :mad: No one else's did, but it seemed like everyone else was also woken up during the power surges, but for different reasons.

Bad new is that I didn't work out a single time all week! :sad2: But I am going to get back on track this week, starting Monday I will be hitting the gym hard, 5x a week. More bad news, during the power issues, my phone was plugged in and it somehow lost the video. The phone still works, I can get calls and make calls, but I can't see anything on the screen! That means no texting, no way of getting my contact list, etc. It's a work phone, so I will have to see what needs to happen to get a new one on Monday. What a pain!

Good news (well, all things considering, anyway) is that my weight this morning was 139. So, I didn't gain anything extra on this trip! :banana: But I still am carrying the extra 4lbs from the first trip. THe goal is to have those gone by the time I leave again in June.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, I hope you are right! But it took me 4 months to lose that weight this year, I am not too confident they will just melt off. But I can hope!
Amy, hormones STINK! I finally got the results back from me re-pap, and everything was OK, so that made me feel a little better! The apple cake was awesome, except it was served warm and I wasn't expecting it and burned my tongue. So worth it though!
Eyor, thanks for stopping by, one of these days I will get a chance to check out your journal!
Amy, glad you got home safe and sound! How annoying to have the phone ring like that and then have a malfunction. We are all so dependant on our gadgets! That is great news for the scale, I am betting you'll show a nice loss next week as you shed the water weight from flying and get back into your routine. Happy Mother's Day, hope its a good one!
Welcome home, Amy! :banana: I'm glad to hear that you made it home safe and sound.:hug:
That's weird about your cell phone. :scratchin I hope you're able to get it fixed on Monday. :wizard:
Congrats on the weigh-in! :thumbsup2 I bet once you get back into your routine those 4 pounds will melt right off. :goodvibes
Happy Mother's Day!:flower3:
Glad you got home safe Amy
How weird that the phone kept ringing!!!
Happy Mother's Day to all my WISH sisters! :grouphug:
I had a pretty good day yesterday. Didn't work out, and food was decent but not stellar, but I didn't snack or go overboard in any way. :thumbsup2
Today will be spent cleaning and doing laundry. And later my mom and DH's mom are coming over for a BBQ. So no workout today, but I am OK with getting back into routine tomorrow.
I am going to stop by the cell phone store to see if I can get my phone fixed or replaced through them. They might tell me I have to get it replaced through work, since it is a work phone on a corporate contract, but it can't hurt to ask, right?
For Saturday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: FlatOut bread w/ham, colby, mustard; 2 Minstrels (I should have never bought these in the UK!)
S: handful Planters peanuts; Smores 100 calorie pack
D: macadamia crusted mahi mahi (only ate 1/2), coleslaw, 1 piece sourdough bread w/butter, 1/4c rice pilaf, 3 asparagus
S: single scoop Baseball Nut ice cream in cup :cloud9:
E: none
Amy, I hope you are right about Friday's WI, I would really love to have at least 2 of the 4 trip lbs gone by then. I didn't realize how much I texted on my phone until I couldn't do it anymore! And it stinks because I can hear it go off, but I can't see it. One of my good friends went back home to FL for a couple weeks (he lives in Orlando but has been working here for the past year) and we always text non-stop and I feel lost without it! I will have to - GASP! - call him instead!!
Tracy, it is weird about the cell phone. I don't know if it was because of the power surges or if it would have broken anyway. I don't really care, I just want it fixed! :goodvibes
Tracey, thanks!
Well, yesterday didn't go as well as it could have! No workout, totally went overboard on food. :confused3 Oh well, so far I seem to be back on track today!
I got my cell phone replaced yesterday, which is good news. However, the store was at the mall, and there is a Cheesecake Factory there. :rolleyes1 Needless to say, anyone who knows me knows that I have a total addiction to cheesecake! And since it was Mother's Day, I decided to get myself a slice. Dulce de Leche is the flavor and it is DIVINE! :cloud9: I was proud of myself, I only ate about 1/3 of it yesterday! :woohoo: Apparently my system can't handle that much sweet at one time anymore. WTH is up with that??? But that means I still have some leftover for today. I might eat the rest, or eat half of what's left and save the rest for tomorrow. Decisions, decisions...
I went to the gym this morning, it was hard to get out of bed, but I'm glad I did. Tomorrow's workout plan is Pilates Sculpt DVD. It's been a while since I've done it, I bet I will be sore on Wed. I still need to get into a routine of the TurboJam. I can't believe I spent the $$ and have only done one workout! I did take the DVDs to the UK, but we all know how that went! :confused3
For Sunday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: FlatOut wrap w/chicken, colby, mustard, 10 Minstrels (these are officially on my "do not buy" list!)
S: maybe 10 chips w/salsa
D: carne asada taco w/corn tortilla, cabbage, cheese: pineapple fluff dessert - WAY TOO MUCH :guilty:
S: 1/3 slice cheesecake
E: none
Way to go on getting to the gym, Amy!!!:cheer2:
That's great that you were able to get your cell phone replaced!:goodvibes That cheesecake sounds yummy!:thumbsup2 Good for you for having 1/3 of it yesterday. That leaves some for today!:thumbsup2
I hope you have a great day ahead!:hug:
It was Mother's Day, you totally deserved that cheesecake! And good job not eating the whole piece. You'll get back on track, you just had a weird week with lots of challenges that were a bit out of your hands.
Glad you got the phone replaced and glad you had a nice Mother's Day!
Here's to a super week getting back on track for you and me both!:)
One of these days I will be able to get back to posting regularly! I am blaming it all on work, and the rental, and life in general... :confused3
Food has been OK, not great, but not horrible. I've only worked out twice so far this week, apparently I am back into the "sleeping in on Tue and Thu instead of working out at home" routine. I hope to change that soon! Weight still up, I will post my WI tomorrow. Maybe there will be a miracle by then! :wizard:
Tonight DS13 gets inducted into the National Honor Society. I had been asking him what he was supposed to wear and he kept telling me jeans were fine. I remember from WAY BACK when I was inducted, and it was a fancy affair. So last night he told me that he needs dark slacks, a shirt and tie. Of course he does, because it is the day before and he doesn't have any of that! So I dropped DD9 at tap class (she had recital pictures so she needed make-up and her costume - and I can't believe the hoochy-mama costumes they put them in! Sequined hot pants and a skin tight shirt! :eek:), then headed to the store. He is at an impossible size, no adult pants would fit (the smallest I could find was a 30 waist, he is about a 28). So I went to the kid section, size 16 were way too short, size 18 were way too baggy... We finally found some 16's that were long enough (barely) and a size 18 jacket that is a little big in the shoulders, but long enough in the arms. then a 16 white shirt, which is BARELY long enough in the arms, tie, and socks. $130 later... :rolleyes1 He looks really handsome, so it was worth it.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, cheesecake was AWESOME! I ate the rest the next day. :cloud9:

Amy, I am almost back on track, I can't complain too much. I just wish work would slow down, it is SO stressful sometimes!

Amy, our sons are built exactly the same! I can rarely find 28" pants, so ds wears 30" waist pants with a belt! They are just at the in between stage right now. I hear you on the cost too, all for clothes he'll probably wear once! And I also hear you on the dance costumes, dd's last costume looked like something a working girl would wear! That is awesome your ds got inducted to the Honor Society, what an honor!:thumbsup2

I hope the scale is nice to you! Just remember, you had a weird week with lots of stress and that can wreak havoc all the way around. Next week should be easier for you. When is your friend moving into the rental? I hope its soon, that way you'll be done with all that fix up! That's hard work.

Weight this morning was 138. Not thrilled, but I haven't been on my A-game this week either! I am just bummed that I am still 3lbs heavier than I was when I left for my first UK trip a month ago... :confused3 But, I need to look at the positive, I am still under 140! :cheer2:

I only worked out twice this week! :eek: I was SO exhausted this morning, I just couldn't get out of bed to get to the gym. :guilty: I need to get back on track next week, that's for sure. I'd like to at least get back to 135 before my next trip! I leave on the 7th, am in the UK until the 13th, then I meet DH and the kids at the airport in London and we fly to Paris for our trip!!!!! :woohoo:

DS13 made me really upset last night. He refuses to smile for pictures. And last night at the Honor Society induction, he took off with his buddies the first chance he got (which is expected, he is at that age). At the reception, he was sitting with his friends and I wanted to get a picture of him, DD9 and me. He wouldn't smile and just stood there with his arms straight down by his side. I put my arm around him and when I looked at the picture, he was actually flinching away from me, like he couldn't stand the fact that I was touching him. It really broke my heart. :sad1: Then the cherry on top was when his friend wanted to take a picture of DS on his cellphone, and DS was all laughs for him. :mad:

So, I kinda lost my temper (but never yelled) and told him that I felt sorry for him because when he is an adult, he is going to look back on all his childhood pictures and he will see just how miserable he looks. Then I went on to say that he had better smile in pictures when we are in Europe because if he doesn't look like he is having a good time, then I am not taking him on any more trips. I explained that we are spending a lot of $$ and we take trips so everyone enjoys themselves and I'll be damned if I am going to have 3 smiles and 1 scowl in every photo! And I don't feel bad about what I said either. I'm sure I'm in the running for another Mom of the Year award after that! :rotfl:

I'm not going to post my food anymore, it takes too much effort and it's BORING for everyone, I'm sure!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, thank your lucky stars for your sensitive DS! Wanna trade for a while? Our renters move in on Monday! :scared1: Poor DH is working his tail off trying to get it ready. They are actually wanting to move some stuff in on Sunday. Today DH took off work to finish painting the closet doors, installing baseboards, painting the master bedroom and bathroom. They are also installing carpet in the bedrooms today, and the granite countertops! It looks SO NICE and I am actually jealous because the rental has granite and we don't! And the master bath is nicer than ours. What's up with that???
Amy, I am telling you it is heart breaking when your son does that, my ds has done that before too. You know its normal but of course you can't help but think back to the little boy who not long adored his mom and it makes ya sad. I had to have a similar talk with ds about a year ago and it did help. I am betting what you said to ds hit its mark. If not, well yell next time!!
Wow, can I move into your rental??
I think its great weigh in was what it was. You'll get that three pounds off, you probably couldn't get up because you are still wiped out from your UK trip and the rental. Next week will be better.:hug: I think you are doing great given all that you have going on right now.
I don't post my food much either anymore. But your food is never boring, it gives me inspiration. You are the food goddess on this board!:rotfl:
Have a super weekend.
Sending some extra :wizard::wizard: your way to help you and your DH get the rental finished. That's great that your tenants move in tomorrow!:banana:
I'm sorry to hear about the picture thing with your DS. :( It's probably just a teenager thing. I bet he'll change his tune when your family goes on this fabulous trip to Europe!!!!:cloud9:
I hope you have a great day today!:hug:
I am absolutely BEAT today! I spent 12+ straight hours at the rental, mostly painting closet doors and baseboards. I still have 1 bathroom to paint, then I am DONE with painting! My quads are killing me, no workout required yesterday, I must have done the equivalent of 1000 squats. I only sat down twice, once for lunch and once for dinner. ANd only for about 10 minutes each time.
The rental is coming around, the granite countertops look awesome! We got black appliances, which also looks nice. DH already left, I need to get the kids up and moving, then I am also headed out. The tenants want to drop some things off today, I'd like to have it in at least decent shape then they get there! They might freak out if they see what a total mess it is right now! :scared1:
Food yesterday was good, no snacking at all, but for some reason the scale showed me up. WHATEVER!!! I"m not going to worry about it until Fri weigh-in!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, I know DS will be leaning towards his friends more now that he's a teenager, I just wish he would stop with his little manic depressive spurts when the camera comes out! And thanks for the compliment on my food choices. :hug:

Tracy, DS better snap out of it in Europe, or I just might leave him in Germany with my dad! :rotfl:

HI Amy
teenagers eh?? i dont blame you one bit for saying what you said - i had a similar conversation with my DD about wanting to spend time with us in WDW now my DB's DD is gonna be there (they get on sooo well - i'm worried she wont want to be with us :()
oh & her word of the day today is...''uh'' :rolleyes:

well done for staying under 140 :goodvibes

Sending lots of :wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard: for the rental. I hope you're able to get everything done in time!:wizard:

Have a great evening, Amy!:hug:

Amy, I bet you did get 1000 squats in! I swear, nothing wears you out like painting. I bet your tenants will be thrilled, what lucky folks they are to have landlords who put so much time, effort and money into that house! I still wish I was moving in. I want granite!!

Don't worry about the scale, its probably some water.

You earn that compliment with your food, you eat better than anybody I know! I still l laugh (and I know I've told you this before) about how sad you were when they pulled spinach off the shelves due to the E Coli scare. You have your prioritites straight with food!

Hope its a good week. Glad your painting days are done!:thumbsup2

My legs feel like someone is stabbing a knife into my quads everytime I take a step! :headache: OUCH!!!! I was at the rental from 9am until 7pm, with about a 1.5hr break to go pick up the kids to "help". As usual, it is more of a hinderence when they are there, because you have to show them what to do, they ask about 462 questions, and DS was complaining about having to pull weeds... ARGH! I had a really short fuse with both of them, so I left early while poor DH stayed until after 9pm.

Everything is done except the kitchen faucet, hanging up blinds (DS already cleaned them all) and cleaning. There is a ton of junk in the backyard that needs to be hauled away, and lots of tools, etc in the hall and kitchen closet. DH is supposed to be getting with the tenant today to see what he wants to do (they wanted to move in today). We could be done tonight, but the tenant still has to get the gas turned on if he wants hot water! We never turned it on because we didn't need it and the water heater is the only gas appliance... Can you say STRESS???

Eating has been OK, but not as healthy as I like. That will change today, if I ever get a chance to go to the grocery store! I usually go on Sun, but had to focus on the rental yesterday. I definitely need to go today, we are running out of everything!

I worked out this morning, I thought it might loosen my legs up. No such luck... I was bone tired, but I dragged myself out of bed and went anyway...

I think I will start posting food tomorrow, I hope I will be able to get back into the swing of things in the 3 weeks left before my next trip!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracey, I am definitely not liking this teenager business! And he's only been 13 for 3 weeks!
Tracy, thanks, I think we should be done today. I need to post some before and after photos of all our hard work!
Did you say you worked out after a long day at the rental that was the equivalent of 1000 squats?:faint: How do you do it? :eek:
Sending more :wizard::wizard: for the rental. I hope you and your DH were able to get everything done that needed to get done. :goodvibes
Have a great day today, Amy!:hug:
