lovinaz's "getting her act together" journal

Wow, this week has been a blur. I have been followed around by the crappy news fairy the last couple days. I actually had to leave work today because I just couldn't handle it anymore. Granted it was already an hour past when I was supposed to leave, but I was on the verge of tears, and managed to keep them in until I got to my car. :sad2: There is just too much stress right now, between work and my ex being an idiot.

Fortunately I have been OK with food. Not great, but not terrible. I went to the gym on Mon and Tue, but nothing on Wed or today. I need to go tomorrow. Not looking forward to WI, I'm guessing it won't be happy news...

Got my allergy testing. It said I was NOT allergic to pinto beans! Which I know is not the case, since my throat swells up when I eat them. Dr said sometimes it doesn't come up in the scratch test, so I am getting a blood test. It did verify that I was not only severely allergic to crab, but basically all shellfish (shrimp, lobster, clams, scallops). And get this - CELERY and GARLIC! WTH??? HOw can you be allergic to celery? It's like water in stick form... There goes my celery-n-hummus treat... :confused3

Sending a gentle :hug: your way, Amy. I'm sorry that you're having such a rough week. Please be sure and take extra special, good care of you, okay?:hug:

Get some rest, try and relax, and have a good evening, my friend. :hug:

Amy, hang in there.:hug: I hope tomorrow is better!:wizard:

God love you sweetie, if I found out I was allergic to celery, I'd be like "who the he** cares"!:rotfl:

You leave in two weeks! Which means I leave in two weeks! Which means we need to send "behave vibes" back and forth across the Atlantic to each other!

Weight this morning was 138. Big shocker there! It's been that since I got back from the UK 3 weeks ago... :confused3 But I am just trying to focus on the fact that at least it is still under 140 and at least I am not gaining! :thumbsup2

We are going out to dinner with some friends tonight. We are going to my fave Baja Mexican place, but I am torn. I always get the seafood tacos - 1 shrimp and 1 salmon. I am supposedly allergic to shrimp, but I've never had a reaction (except for the shrimp ravioli a couple months ago). I know the smart thing to do would be to avoid the shrimp and try something else. But I REALLY love those tacos!!! Decisions, decisions... :rolleyes:

No workout yesterday OR today. I've only worked out 2x per week since I've been back. I am not too worried about it, I know I will have to get back on track after this big trip. I think that is always at the back of my mind, which has zapped my motivation!

For Thursday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: 6" Subway on Honey Oat w/turkey, provolone, spinach, lettuce, mustard; salt-n-vinegar chips
S: cucumber, string cheese
D: baked salmon; corn on cob; HC fudge bar
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, thanks, I was having a really bad day yesterday! As always, today has given me a fresh outlook on things. :goodvibes
Amy, your celery comment cracked me up! :lmao: thanks for reminding me about my upcoming vacation!!! I have been so stressed I haven't even been thinking about it. We are going to have a blast!!!
Great news on the weigh in!:thumbsup2
Look at this way, if you had been told you were allergic to cheesecake, that would be a tragedy of biblical proportions!
You so deserve that vacation and you are going to have a blast. You'll catch up on workouts next week I am betting. You've had a lot going on!
Does that Mexican place serve crab as well? If they do, just ask if they keep the crab and shrimp near each other. That shirmp raviloi thing might have just been sort of a cross contamination with another shell fish that place served.
I ate the shrimp taco! And I really paid attention and I did get a slight tingling then burning on the left side of my lips. It never got worse, but it was definitely there... And I'm sure it had been there every other time, I just chose to ignore it. But I am not going to push my luck, since one day I could have a severe reaction, so now shrimp is officially off the menu for life! And that kills me, because everytime we go to Mexico we buy fresh shrimp and cook it. ARGH! I just can't think about it anymore, it's depressing me! :sad2:
I am really stressed out about work. I am starting a huge new project, one with tons of visibility, and it is starting right before I will be out of the office for 3 whole weeks. It is the worst timing EVER! This proposal needs to be turned in by 9/22, and I am gone for a crucial part. But the vacation has been planned for a year, so I am not going to cancel it. I will just have to deal with the concequences when I get back. But it really is stressing my out, this is a turning point in my career and I need to make sure we win this business.
For Friday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: FlatOut bread w/chicken lunchmeat, cheddar, spinach, mustard
S: string cheese; cucumber
D: 1 shrimp taco, 1 salmon taco, couple chips-n-salsa, pomegranate margarita
S: 1 scoop Baseball Nut ice cream in a cup :cloud9:
E: NONE! I'm pathetic!!! :guilty:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, you are so right, if I was allergic to cheesecake, I would have to stock up on Epipens because there is no way I could live the rest of my life without cheesecake! :lmao:

Sending a :hug: your way and some :wizard::wizard: for the situation at work.

I hope you have a relaxing weekend ahead! :hug:

:hug: Amy! I hear you on the work stress. DH is in much the same boat, but it is now his job to plan the globalization...translation. No hiring ANYONE in US for at least 5 YEARS, all new jobs go out of country and a large part of what is in US now, too. UGH!! Hang in there!!

Hope your trip is just what you need to unwind! You deserve it!! And praying that this week gets a bit easier for you!

Amy, you can handle this, I know it! You have planned this vacation for a long time and I am betting that you can get done things before and after. Just focus on the here and now in that when your home for sure work is key. But when you are in Europe, focus on the time with family, work will be there when you get back. You are under a lot of stress my friend, but you are good at handling this stuff and you can do it!

Sorry ex is being a you know what. Just what you don't need.:sad2:

I guess its better to not push your luck with the shrimp, major bummer, I love shrimp too. If I eat any from now on, I'll keep it to myself!

Hang in there, I hope the week got better.:hug:

Wow, I have really been neglecting my journal! And everyone else's, sorry for that. :flower3: I have been busier than a one-armed paper hanger this week! :faint: I've hardly had a chance to take a pee break, let alone get on the computer for non-work enjoyment!

Food has been so-so. Exercise has been PATHETIC. I did get to the gym 2x this week, but that was it. :guilty: I'm not going to worry about it until I get back. I WILL take my workout clothes and try to get at least 5 workouts in while I'm in the UK. Then I figure we will be doing tons of walking in Paris and Germany, so I just need to pay attention to portion control. Weigh-in yesterday was 139. So not what I wanted to see before leaving for 3 weeks! :sad2:

I need to get my blood drawn today to confirm my allergy test. The prick test said I was not allergic to tuna, and I thought I was. So, I made a tuna casserole for the first time in 10+ years and after 3 bites, my mouth lit up! :scared: So, I don't care what the test showed, I am obviously allergic to tuna... :confused3

I also found out at work that I have to travel to India next month! I'm excited but nervous at the same time. I have to get a visa and in order to get that, you have to turn in your passport. I need it for the next 3 weeks since I will be out of the country, so I had to fill out all the paperwork (there was A LOT) and get everything ready so I can turn in my passport the day I get back. That leaves 3 weeks to get it returned so I can go on the trip. I am told it will be no problem. I hope not!! I also have to get some immunizations when I get back. Can't wait... :rolleyes1

I hope to check in more often while I am on travel, maybe things will be a little more relaxed. I'm off to check up on everyone!!!

:hug: Amy,

Wow! You have been busy!!!:eek: It sounds like your vacation is coming at a good time so you can get some rest and relaxation. :goodvibes

India?!?!? That is so cool! I hope you'll do a mini trip report for us when you get back. I would love to travel overseas, but I am so afraid to fly. :guilty: Of course I would need money to travel overseas as well. :laughing: Minor detail. ;)

I hope you have a great weekend!:hug:

i hope work calms down for you soon - dont let it play on your mind during your trip, it will be waiting for you when you get back ;)
Thats great your going to India :)
i would be gutted being allergic to shrimp & tuna - my fav - i have king prawn salad twice a week!! but like you say better be safe than sorry!

Wow that is a big trip going to India! That will really be exciting for you. I am sure you'll get your visa back in time. With your upcoming trip, what else can you do?

I am not doing that well with food and exercise either, its so hard when you know you are going to be gone!

Don't worrry about journals, we know you love us! Hang in there, before you know it, your vacation will be here. Definitely stay away from the tuna!

If i dont get back here before you leave Amy - have a fab trip :)
I'm in London on the 26th/27th if your that way then!!!

Just few more days now, Amy!:woohoo: I hope you have a wonderfully relaxing, fun, and safe vacation!!!!:hug: Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!:goodvibes

Only 2 more days of hell until I meet my family and jet off to Paris!!! :cool1::banana::woohoo::yay::cheer2: This week has been HORRIBLE! I have been working 12+ hour days. Yesterday I had to call into a telecon that was 2:30pm AZ time, 10:30pm UK time... :confused3 I am definitely ready for a vacation!

Food has been OK, as good as can be expected for travel. I have been so busy that I didn't go out to dinner on Monday or Tuesday, but went out for Indian food last night :lovestruc I may or may not go out tonight, I stocked up on scones, clotted cream and strawberry jam so I can eat that instead! I just have too much work to take care of to be spending 3hrs at dinner!

I worked out Tue (stair climber) and Wed (treadmill) and am taking a break this morning (legs are a little sore, but not bad). I will most likely do my Pilates video after I get back from my meetings today. I will work out Fri and Sat morning then leave for the airport to meet DH and the kids! I hope to catch up on journals later today if I get a chance.

It's almost vacation time, Amy!!!!!:cheer2: I hope you and your family have a wonderful vacation!:grouphug:
