lovinaz's "getting her act together" journal

Amy good luck with kicking up your workout!

I am proud that you are celebrating the loss on the scale and not beating yourself up. I am telling you, we women are so hard on ourselves. I have never heard a man be that hard on himself!!

I like Lisa's advice on your ds. You know I have had so many ups and downs with my own ds and its always a struggle. Just remember you are a great mom, and your kids know that. These are just tough years for kids. I also think that kids who are super intelligent sometimes have to grow into their intelligence and learn to channel that into something positive. :hug:

Have a great weekend, good luck on the demo job. Its good stress relief if nothing else!

Did you try Shred level 2 yesterday? I still have to get to Walmart and get a copy of the DVD.

It sounds like you have a nice sized remodeling project coming up. That's great that you're doing most of the demolition work yourselves. Save some money and get exercise in too! ;)

Hope you have a great Sunday!:hug:

I wimped out and only did Shred Level 1. I figured I would stick to my original plan and do L1 5x. That was #4, so I will do it again on Monday then start L2 on Wed. I am not sore this morning, but the workout still leaves me exhausted! No workout scheduled today, I am starting the TurboJam series tomorrow (it's M-F) and I am also planning to continue with the every other day Shred as well. Take that, gym!

Home renovations have already lost the "fun". Had a horrible day yesterday while rewiring some outlets. 5+ hours and an extra hole in the drywall later, it finally got done... Now there is a circuit breaker that needs to be replaced (the lights in the hallway/garage and garage door opener won't work!) and our computer decided to die yesterday too! I am on the super slow laptop - DH is taking the computer to his buddy to fix today. So, I will post here then have to catch up with everyone else tomorrow... And of course we were so fed up with everything going wrong yesterday that we just cleaned up and went out to eat. I was starving, it was past 7pm so I didn't do too great... :confused3

For Saturday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: Wheat sandwich thin w/turkey, spinach, mustard, provolone; 2 butter cookies
S: peppers-n-hummus; 1+ serving LF Cheez-Its; 10 mint M&Ms :sad2:
D: entire individual size pizza on wheat crust (no sauce, 4 cheeses, pine nuts); single scoop Snickers ice cream on sugar cone

E: 20min Shred L1

Tracey, maybe you can start a pumpkin trend in the UK! :laughing:

Barb, this project is going to drag on forever, but I know it will be worth it in the end, especially with all the $$ we are going to save doing most of it ourselves!

Amy, I'm sure there will be times when I slip back into my old "woe is me" mindset, but I am going to try very hard to break that cycle! I sure hope you are right about DS, it seems like such a waste of his giftedness right now. Hopefully he grows to see the positive of it, not the "it's not cool to be smart" part of it! He did pull his grades up and got 3 A's, 3 B's and a C.

Tracy, most of my day was spent watching DH and handing him things, so not much exercise for me! :lmao:

Tracey, maybe you can start a pumpkin trend in the UK! :laughing:

ahhh maybe thats how i will make my millions to move out to Celebration & never work:) look out Barb ;)

Your doing great with the exercise Amy keep it up :)

Sounds like it was a good idea to just stick with the first level Shred. You really have an ambitious workout program!

I can understand why you went out to dinner after that sort of day. It doesn't hurt every now and then as long as the majority of the meals are sensible.

Ahh, back to work. Gotta love it - not! It's not too bad today so far, still catching up on some stuff that happened over the break, but nothing overwhelming!

House renovations finally back in progress after a grueling day. The replaced circuit breaker did not fix the problem, but DH was able to reconnect the wiring in the attic that was causing the problem, so everything is fine now. :thumbsup2 The house is already opened up so much by taking down half the living room wall, I can't wait until the kitchen wall comes down!

Today marks my 4 week "no gym" trial. I did work out this morning and plan to do Shred right after work. I got to sleep in until 5:15am instead of 4:30am, which was nice! That is definitely a perk of working out at home. I am also going to take measurements this afternoon, for some before and after comparison. If I am brave, I will post them tomorrow. ;)

For Sunday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: Wheat sandwich thin w/chicken, spinach, mustard, cheddar; 100 cal pack Grasshopper cookies
S: peppers-n-hummus; maybe 10 pecans halves; 10 mint M&Ms
D: 2 pieces homemade pepperoni pizza; HC fudge bar

E: none

Avoided: Cheez-Its, mindless boredom snacking :banana:

Tracey, that could be your claim to fame - marketing pumpkin fluff in the UK! Of course I would need to be paid a royalty. You can pay me in clotted cream. :lovestruc

Barb, I usually do pretty good with meals, but I'll go through spurts where I just lose my mind and eat until I am stuffed. That's when the extra lbs like to appear, and that is what I am trying to avoid this year! :confused3

I'm glad that your DH was able to fix the electrical problem. :goodvibes

Did you try Level 2 of the Shred? I still need to get the DVD.

Hope you have a great Tuesday!:hug:

Tracey, that could be your claim to fame - marketing pumpkin fluff in the UK! Of course I would need to be paid a royalty. You can pay me in clotted cream. :lovestruc

LOL - ITS A DEAL ;)

Glad work has started off tame for you & the renovations are back on track :)

Good luck with the no gym trial! You've got a good plan in place, and when you're exercising at home it's harder to find excuses to skip it. It will be interesting to see how the measurements change. I may get brave and do that myself when I start the "My Personal Trainer" Wii game...or then again I might not, LOL!

I am a little sore from the TurboJam workout. It's going to take some getting used to because she goes super fast and she is so chipper and full of energy it's a little annoying! Especially at 5:30am... Not to mention DH is still getting ready for work and I don't want him watching me! I did do Shred (last day of L1) when I got home, and I was once again reminded how much I HATE working out in the afternoon! Maybe I will get up early and do both workouts in the morning. Tomorrow is the first day of L2, so maybe I shouldn't push my luck - might make for a rough day if I can't move my arms and legs!

Measurements were taken, and I have no idea what "good" measurements are supposed to look like, but here is what they are as of 1/4:

Height: 5'4"
Weight: 140.4 lbs
Upper Arms: 11.5"
Chest: 34"
Waist: 29"
Hips: 38.5"
Thighs: 22.5"

I will measure again at the end of the month, to see if there is any improvement!

For Monday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: spinach salad w/chicken, cheese, LF dressing
S: 3 egg whites; baby carrots
S: peppers-n-hummus; 10 mint M&Ms
D: turkey goulash w/wheat egg noodles; HC fudge bar

E: 30min TurboJam Learn-n-Burn; 20min Shred L1
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, Shred Level 2 will be tomorrow and I'm scared! :scared1: If I can move my arms enough to type, I will post how it goes on Thu... ;)
Tracey, I don't know how you can live in a place with clotted cream and not weigh 400+ lbs. I love that stuff!
Barb, I am the opposite, I usually find more excuses to NOT work out at home! Especially after work! :rolleyes1 But I am trying to break that habit.
Amy, I am so glad you got the electrical stuff fixed. Home repairs, esp to the level you guys are doing are so stressful. But so worth it! Its great you can already see the improvement!
I sat on my fat butt and watched the shred DVD yesterday. I think I need to wait until I get in a bit better shape to try it. It looks so hard!
Too funny, I will not work out at home if anyone can see me. I tell my kids if they come down when I am doing a DVD I'll come unglued!
Great job working out at home, extra sleep is never a bad thing!
HHHMMMMM......thought I had replied earlier, but guess it got lost in the black hole of the internet. I'll try again.
Good luck with the renovations. How great that your DH can do electrical. Mine is not allowed near anything electrical. Those DVDs sound wicked. I like your plan of doing one level for 5 days before moving on to the next. I think that is a good idea.
LOL...I'm with you...I don't think I could take much chipperness that early in the morning!
How did Shred 2 go? I finally got the DVD last night at Walmart!:goodvibes I probably won't give it a try until tomorrow though.
Hope you have a great day!:hug:
I have had 2 days in a row of really bad news regarding my cousin on my dad's side and my aunt on my mom's side. :sad1: I am almost scared to answer the phone today. :sad2:
I need to figure out a plan for Tue dinners. Starting this week, from now until mid-April, DD has soccer practice from 6-7:30 Tue and Thu. I had already planned for crockpot meals on Thu, since DH has to take DS to shooting class. I thought I would be able to make a quickie meal on Tuesdays, but we didn't get back until 7:50pm so we ended up having cereal (heaven forbid DH help by making dinner!) :rolleyes:
I am still getting used to Chalene from TurboJam. WHERE does she get the energy? She has to be freebasing caffeine or something. :lmao: It is a lot of cardio kickboxing type moves, which I know work, I just need to get over her peppiness! And she always wants you to "jam", and shake your booty, do little dance moves. I am the first to admit I have white girl syndrome and "dance" (I use the term loosely) pretty much like a robot. :confused3 It ain't pretty, let me tell you! It just seems so unnatural for me to move that way! But if I get a killer bod because of it, I'll deal with it. ::yes::
For Tuesday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: spinach salad w/chicken, cheese, LF dressing
S: 3 egg whites; baby carrots
S: peppers-n-hummus; 5 mint M&Ms
D: 1 bowl Apple Jacks, 1 bowl Cocoa Krispies :rolleyes1
E: 20min TurboJam
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, I watched L2 of Shred and it didn't look too bad, but I KNOW it will feel bad once I start doing it! I am so paranoid about people watching me work out. The kids aren't so bad, but for some reason I don't want DH watching me, especially when I am doing that ridiculous hip shaking nonsense!

Lisa, DH works as an electrician on helicopters, so fortunately he knows what he is doing in that field! It will save us tons of money (even though it will cost a lot of headaches!).

Barb, she is seriously annoying... I will either get used to it or get rid of these DVDs at the end of Jan - especially if I don't see spectacular results!

Tracy, I will do L2 today after work. My Cardio Party workout this morning was 45min, so I didn't have time. Wish me luck!

:grouphug: Hugs to you...I hope the bad news phone calls are over.

Cereal for dinner, eh? (In my current chocolate mood I have to say the Coco Krispies sound tasty.)

Hi Amy
your doing a great job fitting the workouts in at home, food looks good too :)
I hope youve had no more bad news :hug:

I have cereal for dinner quite often. Especially if I will be walking. or if no one else is home, or if I don't feel like cooking, or if I don't feel like eating what I made everyone else......you get the idea.

Hope your family is doing okay. I hear ya on the not answering the phone sometimes. I really hope everyone is okay. :hug:

:hug: Amy...I'm sorry to hear about the bad news phone calls you've been getting. :( I hope the bad news is over. :hug:

How did Shred Level 2 go? I was going to try level 1 this morning, but I'm not feeling well. I think I may have to postpone until next week. I can't wait to hear what you think of L2!:goodvibes

I hope you have a wonderful day!:hug:

I can actual move all my body parts this morning! :cool1: But I wanted to die during the actual workout. I think I might need to start getting up earlier in the a.m. to do both workouts back to back because the after work stuff is not working for me. #1, I HATE working all day, then coming home, working out, then immediately making dinner, checking homework, etc. I want to be able to relax a little in the evenings! #2, I just don't think I have as much energy in the afternoon therefore not getting as effective of a workout. So, I'll need to put some thought into this...

I am starting to get bummed about my body right now. I am at the water retention phase of my cycle and it is SO FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!! I am eating well and working out tons, but the scale is not budging. But I KNOW it's water because I have only been making about 3-4 pit stops during the day instead of the usual 8-10. The more water I drink, the more bloated I get. I know the scale will not be nice during weigh-in, but I also know I have done the best I can and that I will see a 2-3lb instant drop when my body decides to shed the water. So, I'm NOT going to let it bother me. :)

Good news about my aunt who had a stroke - she is expected to make a full and speedy recovery. Still no good news about my cousin (not related to that aunt). He is in a coma and on a ventilator and feeding tube. It's not known if he will ever wake up. :sad1:

For Wednesday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: spinach salad w/chicken, cheese, LF dressing
S: baby carrots; 1oz monterrey jack cheese
D: presto ham casserole (ham, mac-n-cheese, cream of mushroom soup, peas); 7 mint M&Ms

E: 45min TJ Cardio Party; 20min Shred L2
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Barb, the kids love cereal for dinner. I do too - it's instant, easy and little cleanup! But I always feel guilty for not cooking something healthier...
Tracey, I think the bad news train is finally over! :wizard:
Lisa, I would be in much better shape if I ate Mini Wheats or Cheerios, but no - I go for the kids' cereals! :rolleyes1
Tracy, Shred L2 was TOUGH. The cardio about killed me. I was drenched in sweat and am still in disbelief that I can be that exhausted after 20 minutes. DD keeps telling me that I should be glad it's only 20 minutes because on Biggest Loser they have to put up with her for hours every day. ;)
