lovinaz's "getting her act together" journal

I hear you on the size thing too! Its very frustrating, and I find that even clothes from the same store/designer can vary. I don't think men have this problem. Or a few others I could go on and on about!

As for ds, I think it takes time. Just make you tell him exactly why you have a hard time trusting him and when he does what he says he will and follows through praise him to the skies. At least that's what ds' counselor told me to do! Its tough being a parent of a teen, you want them to have the freedom to spread their wings and have fun, but its not easy! And that same darn thing happened to me with my son back in May, he forgot his cell, I couldn't find him at a park where I was to pick him up and I must have really hit home with that tirade because he hasn't forgotten his phone since! It scared the crap out of me and he knew it.

Funny, I had already decided not to put those ginger snaps on there, I am not that fond of those!

Well, I said I'd post my Dec 1 weight, good or bad. And it's bad - 142.0. :sad2: Oh well, it is what it is! I am still tracking my weekly weight on Fridays, and I am still hoping to reach that elusive 135 by Christmas. And if I don't, OH WELL. I will get there eventually! Heck, if history is any indication, I might get there during/after my upcoming trip to India! ;)

I am about ready to kill my dog. He thinks my Winter Wonderland display is his personal snack bar. He helped himself to a ceramic snowman scene and ate one of the people off it before we caught him. And this morning, I was still in my room and I heard a huge crash and a bunch of commotion in the kitchen. That dog had gotten up on the counter and grabbed the drained turkey fat from last night (I pour it into the container and let it dry before I throw it out) and sprayed gelatinous, disgusting fat all over my kitchen floor. He was dragging the container into the dining room when I caught him and smacked him a good one on his butt. I put him in his crate and of course DD gets up and asks where he is and says "poor Buckley". WHAT?!?!? I am the one mopping up gooey, viscous turkey fat (which is super hard to clean up, by the way!). :mad: Anyway, he was so devastated he would not come into the kitchen all morning (GOOD!). I'm sure he'll be back to terrorizing the house by this afternoon... :rolleyes1

For Monday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: spinach salad w/chicken; cheese; LF dressing
S: red pepper-n-hummus; mini Crunch bar
D: FlatOut wrap; turkey taco meat; cheese; hot sauce; HC fudge bar

E: 45min on elliptical

Avoided: pumpkin pie, more candy
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, I'm sure DS is just going through some growing pains. He has a pattern of being well-behaved, then just losing his mind for a couple weeks, then getting back on track.
Amy, I wish DS was a quick learner when it came to that sort of thing! Does Daisy want a boyfriend?? I think she'd like Buckley...
Daisy may want a boyfriend but her family doesn't want her to have one! I did get a good laugh over the turkey fat thing though. Benjamin once got a chicken carcas out of the trashcan and omg what a mess that was. Beagles! Oh yeah, Daisy has consumed a few Chirstmas decorations in her day and she has this THING about this stuffed Bambi dd has. She will do anything to get her paws on that, even if it means destroying dd's room to find it.
I am betting you will make your goal a few days late. I am betting when you weigh on Friday, it will be better news. That mystery bloat is likely still hanging around. I am proud you got on the scale and have a good attitude about the whole thing!:thumbsup2
Yeah, some Dehli Belly might put you in the 120's if you aren't careful!
Your food and exercise for Monday look spot on, Amy!:thumbsup2 Keep up the good work and the scale will cooperate! ::yes::
Sorry to hear about your Christmas display and the turkey fat. :( When our dogs were puppies, we had been gone all day one day and we came home to find our couch totally chewed up!:eek: DH was really upset...Me, not so much...I wanted a new couch anyway!:rotfl:
I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday!:hug:
I am still bloated for some reason! My ring was tight when I woke up this morning. And I'm not liking it at all... I hope it goes away soon. I've actually been behaving food-wise, so I'm not sure what the deal is. :confused3
Work has been crazy the past couple days, trying to get everything ready for this upcoming trip. We have a meeting with the VP of our site and of course he wasn't available at any decent time, so the meeting is from 5-7pm! :eek: And I'm the only "young" one with kids to worry about and a hubby out of town, so I am NOT happy. :mad: At least I won't be over-snacking before dinner! :rolleyes1
For Tuesday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: FlatOut wrap w/turkey, spinach, mustard, 1 slice cheddar
S: 3 egg whites; seedless cucumber
S: peppers-n-hummus
D: 2 eggs (pathetic attempt at over-easy!); 1 piece wheat toast w/butter; 2 slices turkey bacon; fun-size Butterfinger; mini Crunch bar
E: 40min Pilates :cheer2:
Avoided: late night cookie (I was scrounging but resisted!) :woohoo:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, I'd take the 120's, Delhi Belly-induced or not! :rolleyes: Actually, it wouldn't be too fun because it would only last a day or two. That kind of weight loss ALWAYS comes back quickly!

Tracy, Buckley has definitely gotten more calm and less destructive (he's 4 years old!) but he still has his moments!

Your story about Buckley made me giggle - sorry, im sure it wasnt funny at the time!!
my scale hasnt moved for weeks but i know ive lost, so please dont get to disheartened scales are the worst invention ever!!
hope the meeting with your VP went well...& quick ;)

Amy, it must be in the air, I could barely get my wedding ring on today and I have been so good! Women and mystery bloat, just another one of life's crappy moments. I hope yours goes away soon, just keep focusing on the fact you didn't do anything to cause it. I am still betting that scale will have you at your goal very soon. In the meantime I agree with Tracey, scales are rotten inventions!

I hope your meeting went well, I can only imagine how that just throws everything off when you are on your own with the two kids. Hang in there, your food looks good!:hug::thumbsup2

Add me to the list.....My rings are super tight too! :headache: I think mine is a combination of eating too many carbs and TOM. :( I'm gonna drink lots of water today and hope that the bloating subsides...Hope yours goes away too!:wizard:

How did your meeting go last night?

I hope you have a great day today!:hug:

And as quickly as it came, the bloating has left! :cool1: SO happy about that! :woohoo: And I am very proud of myself for not going off the deep end when I saw the scale jump up. Because that is what I usually do, then once the bloating goes away, I still had an extra lb or two because I ate too much! Vicious cycle... :confused3

I didn't work out this morning, I was too comfy and cozy! But I PROMISED myself I'd work out tonight, and I even asked DD to remind me when I got home. And she won't let me slack off! ;)

For Wednesday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: spinach salad w/chicken, cheese, LF dressing
S: 3 egg whites; seedless cucumber
D: very small slice of thin crust pepperoni pizza; small salad (maybe 1/2c)
S: 1 bowl Lucky Charms; 1 ginger lemon cookie :rolleyes1

E: 45min on treadmill

Avoided: more pizza (at meeting)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracey, all Buckley incidents eventually become funny to me once the annoyance factor wears off! I agree with the scale! I'd much rather look good than weigh less. I must be pretty dense because no one can believe I weigh as much as I do!
Amy, relief near for the bloating! :wizard: At least it was for me!! The meeting was SO long! It lasted until after 8pm. :mad: They at least bought pizza, but still - I'd rather be at home!
Tracy, I wish I could leave 4 hrs early since I was here so late last night for that meeting, but alas, that's not how it works... :sad2:
Glad to hear the bloating is gone!:cool1:
Did you get your workout in yesterday?
Any special plans for the weekend?
Hope you have a great day!:hug:
Weight this morning was 139.2!!!! :cool1: I was very happy to see that, and I hope I never see 14x.x again on that scale! Another shocking event - I worked out last night! :woohoo: And I was once again reminded why I wake up early to work out - more energy and less interruptions! :confused3
For Thursday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: spinach salad w/chicken, cheese, LF dressing
S: 3 egg whites, seedless cucumber
S: freeze-dried pear
D: crockpot stroganoff w/wheat egg noodles, 2 lemon-ginger cookies
E: 55min Pilates Sculpt DVD
Avoided: cookies in the breakroom (the awesome, chewy kind!) :banana:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, I believe DH is going to "surprise" me with a night at a fancy hotel to celebrate our anniversary (4 years married on Dec 2). He was out of town on our actual anniversary. :sad2: I am shocked he is actually planning something, he usually defers all planning to me! :goodvibes

Woohoo!:woohoo: 139.2!!!! :banana: Way to go, Amy!!!!!:cheer2:

Happy Anniversary! :love: I hope you and your DH have a great time! :goodvibes

Just got back from a quick weekend getaway to Sedona. It was beautiful, but cold. :cold: I forgot to post that I got my 5x of workouts in last week! :cool1: Actually, it was 6x, because we took a 3+ hr hike yesterday. :thumbsup2

Food was great on Fri, decent on Sat, and I started out badly today with a HUGE, FATTENING breakfast, but I will NOT turn it into a free-for-all day, I will finish the day strong and healthy. Plus, my stomach is not used to that kind of food, so I'm not really in the mood to eat anything anyway... :rolleyes1
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, the anniversary getaway was perfect! And even more perfect because DH planned it all and I was surprised. He never plans anything! :rolleyes:
I'm glad to hear that you and your DH had a great time on your getaway!:goodvibes What a great way to start your week!:cool1:
Hope you have a nice day today!:hug:
Hi Amy,
Good news all around: Under 140 (told you it would happen soon :goodvibes) and a weekend getaway! I am so glad you guys got away for your anniversary. How far is Sedona from you? I see you were only 58 degrees today which I know is cold for you! Of course that's 50 degrees higher than we were! But its all relative isn't it?
I hear you on afternoon/evening workouts. Its just not the same but I am proud you did it!:cool1:
This week is going to be crazy! Trying to get ready for India next week, plus all kinds of appointments (I had dentist yesterday, DS has ortho today, both kids have dentist tomorrow :crazy2:)
Did not work out this morning. I didn't sleep that great! We had a major storm yesterday, it rained all day, then was super windy all night. Our trash can was blown over, and our lighted snowman took a beating too! :sad2: But it pales in comparison to my poor co-worker, who had a tree fall through his house... :eek:
For Monday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: 2 slices homemade pepperoni pizza
S: 3 egg whites; seedless cucumber
S: large handful pecans
D: baked chicken parmesan; broccoli; HC fudge bar
E: 45min on treadmill
Avoided: lemon ginger cookies
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, thanks! I think you are on your way to WDW by now!

Amy, Sedona is about a 2 hours drive from us. They got hammered with snow yesterday! I should work out today since I didn't do it this morning, but we'll see how it goes... :rolleyes1

Wow, guess I skipped a couple days! I have been so-so with food, and not working out! :guilty: It's really cold in the mornings (yes, I know, not compared to most locations, but for AZ!), I haven't been getting much sleep and I've just gotten lazy. And I'm in that bad mindset about how I'm not going to be able to work out next week, so might as well start slacking off now! I WILL get back into it and go to the gym tomorrow morning. I have to, it takes too long to re-do the progress that's been undone!

I had some leftover pumpkin and I made another batch of pumpkin fluff. I should have just thrown out the pumpkin! I can't stay away from that stuff! It's low fat, but nothing about it is good in the quantities I eat! :eek: Hormomes are whacked - I woke up in a pool of sweat on Wed night. YUCK. Then I had some surprise spotting yesterday - just had TOM Thanksgiving. WTH??? :confused3 Oh well, not much I can do there. Scale is moving in the wrong direction again, that could be hormones or simply eating too much junk! At this point, I can't fathom making 135 by Christmas. Heck, I'll be happy if I am still under 140 at Christmas!

For Wednesday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: spinach salad w/chicken, cheese, LF dressing
S: 3 egg whites; seedless cucumber
S: red pepper-n-hummus; 10 Wheat Thins; 1 frozen M&M cookie dough ball; pumpkin fluff :confused3
D: grilled cheese on wheat; stupid amount of pumpkin fluff :rolleyes1

E: none

Avoided: nothing, obviously! :sad2:

Hi Amy, I saw AZ was getting hit with storms, glad your tree didn't fall through your house like your poor co worker!

I hear you on the pumpkin thing, I can't resist any sort of pumpkin dessert or bread, low fat or not!

I hope you have a nice weekend, and I hope your night sweats are short lived. They are no fun.:sad2:

When do you leave for India?

Weight this morning was 139.0. A 0.2lb loss from last week. Not too exciting, but I only worked out once this week and have been overindulging in snacks, so I am happy with it! Is it possible to lose 2lbs a week to make my Christmas goal? Yes. Is it realistic? Probably not... But I'm not too worried about it, and I am definitely not going to drink water from a street vendor in India to get there! :lmao:

We have a party to go to tonight. They are British and put out quite the spread. Mince pies, etc. YUM. And cocktails aplenty. I will attempt to behave, there are a lot of work people that attend, so it is a little more easy to stay in line with the alcohol!

For Thursday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: FlatOut wrap w/spinach, mustard, turkey, cheddar
S: baby carrots; pineapple
S: red pepper-n-hummus; small handful pecans
D: 1.5 thin cut Shake-n-Bake pork chops; cauliflower; pumpkin fluff

E: none

Avoided: more pumpkin fluff!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, I leave for India tomorrow. I am now transitioning from pumpkin to gingerbread addiction. 'Tis the season! :rolleyes1 Night sweats only lasted that one night, thankfully. I hate that and I know there are many more years of dealing with that in the future. I'm not even 38 yet, for cryin' out loud! :confused3
Hi Amy,
I hope your party was fun and yummy! I am laughing at your "water from a street vendor" comment!:rotfl: You have a good attitude about this, its a hard time of year to do well but you have really held your own and then some!
Gingerbread is good for you! At least that's what I read the other day.;)
Safe trip and see when you get back!
And the best thing for night sweats is to keep some cold packs on hand in your freezer and grab one when you need it. And of course blast the ac and tell your dh to deal with being cold all the time!
