lovinaz's "getting her act together" journal

I think I did pretty good last night food wise. I stuck with water and didn't eat too much rice. We had Mexican AGAIN. We just ate at this place last week, but my brother wanted to go there, so what can you do... I was proud of myself because I did not feel the slightest bit overstuffed when we left, unlike my brother, who was busting at the seams! And his model-like girlfriend ate 3/4 of a huge chimichanga! And had a glass of wine! And nibbled on a couple chips w/bean dip!!! :worship: Must be nice!

Today is soccer and more soccer. Game at 9:30, then All-Star tryouts from 6-9pm. And of course it is only going to be 70 today, so I'll be bundling up! ;)

For Friday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: leftover chili
S: V8; 3 egg whites
S: handful pecans
D: chicken machaca; 1/2 flour tortilla; 1 scoop pumpkin ice cream w/marshmallow topping :lovestruc

E: 45min on elliptical/stair climber machine (4.40mi)

Avoided: margarita; chips-n-salsa! :thumbsup2
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, we went to Baskin Robbins since my brother (who had wanted DQ the night before) was in no condition to get ice cream! I will have to go to India next year for 3 weeks. And it's not in 5* hotels the whole time either... :eek:
Tracey, thanks! I hope the good attitude sticks around for a while, I know it really helps.
Tracy, thanks for your constant encouragement! :goodvibes
You did a great job with food! Keep up the good work!:cheer2:
How did your DD's soccer tryouts go?
Have a nice Sunday!:hug:
Yesterday was a weird day with food. Too much running around, not enough structure. I did resist quite a few bad things, so I am proud of myself for that! Skipped dinner because we ate "lunch" at 3pm. My mom raised and slaughered a cow, and I swear that was the best burger I have ever had!
We went to GameStop to do some research on some games DS13 wants for CHristmas. His dad lets him play Rated M games (17+) on XBox and I totally do not agree with that and he is not allowed to play those games at our house. We did get him 1 Rated M game in the past, because you can turn off the foul language and gore. And the guys at GameStop told us how. But unfortunately, these new games DS wants do not have that option. He also wants XBox Live, which I knew nothing about. The GameStop guy told us that everyone has microphones and can talk to each other while playing online, and basically you can say anything you want, some people swear, talk smack, etc. So there is another thing he can cross off his Christmas list! He's going to be upset, but OH WELL. We did end up getting both kids new TVs for their rooms for CHristmas. They had 32" Vizio LCDs on sale at Costco for $339 each! What a bargain. :thumbsup2 The kids do not have cable or anything in their rooms, they only have a TV to play video games or watch movies, and right now they have little 19" screens with built in DVD players. I guess they will have to sacrifice the DVD players for a bigger screen.
DD10 won her soccer game. Tryouts = not so good. :guilty: She ended up getting a stomach cramp halfway through, which didn't help. Plus, most of the girls there were stellar soccer players. DD is an average player. Not the worst, but not the best either. And a lot of the others were 12 years old and have 2 more years under their belts. There were 33 that showed up, and 11 will not make it. I am keeping my fingers crossed for her, but will not be surprised if she doesn't make it. Does that sound horrible for a mom to say? I hope not, I am just being realistic. And of course I would NEVER say that to DD, I told her how proud I am of her and gave her encouragement the whole time. Day #2 of tryouts is next Sat, and they find out after Dec 5. :wizard:
Boy, I am chatty today! Here's the whole reason I logged on... :rolleyes1
For Saturday:
B: 2 bowls Corn Pops
S: apple; pretzels w/LF Laughing Cow wedge; snack pack M&Ms
L: hamburger on white bun w/mustard & sweet relish; 1 slice silver cream pie :lovestruc
S: microwave kettle corn; 1 lemon ginger cookie; 12 Cheez-Its :confused3
E: none
Avoided: breakfast burritoes and muffins @ soccer game; second piece of pie
Tracy, see above for info on soccer tryouts.
Hi Amy.
Wow India for three weeks in non five star hotels!:scared1: I am sure it will fly right by.;)
One of the hardest parts of being a mom is when you have to face facts and be realistic with your kids strenghts and weaknesses. The best thing is that she tried and her mom encouraged her! Long after the nuts and bolts of the soccer thing are forgotten, she'll remember that.:hug: And who knows, she may play like David Beckham next weekend and make the team!
As for the Xbox thing, it must be beyond frustrating to have your ex make such poor decsions. I am glad you did the research!
Great deal on those tv's, your kids will be very happy on Christmas!
Great deal on the TVs, Amy!!!!:thumbsup2
Sending some :wizard::wizard: for your DD. I hope she has a great tryout this weekend! :goodvibes
Sorry to hear about the video game thing. That must be so frustrating for you to have your ex let your DS play those games. Good for you for crossing those items off the Christmas list!:thumbsup2
I hope your Monday is a good one!:hug:
Another weird day with food yesterday... :confused3 But I never really over ate, I just didn't make the best choices. Oh well, it's easier to stay on track during the week. And I am feeling pretty good about things right now, which is always a nice thing! ;)
I need to come up with some other Christmas ideas for DS13, since he will not be getting what he wanted... And I'd really like to get all my shopping done by the first week in Dec. It's much less hectic that way! I just need to put some thought into it. DH and I decided that we will probably get a new bedroom set including a new mattress for Christmas instead of gifts for each other. I told him that is fine, but he better get me something small for my b-day (Dec 18)! The only thing I really want is a front license plate for my car. I asked for one last year, and it's obvious I didn't get it! :rolleyes:
For Sunday:
B: 2 bowls Corn Pops
L: 1+ serving Cheez-Its; caramel apple
S: red peppers-n-hummus; snack pack M&Ms
S: handful pecans
D: grilled NY strip; zucchini; HC fudge bar
E: none
Avoided: misc junk, I was definitely in a grazing mood but managed to behave for the most part!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, I also hope DD kicks butt at the next tryout! :wizard: If they made the team based on heart, she'd be a shoe-in. She loves the game and she REALLY wants to make All-Stars! One of my co-workers is one of the volunteers and part of me wants to call him and see what I can do, but the other part tells me to let her do it on her own...

Tracy, it is very aggravating what my ex does. He has also let DS watch R rated movies. The worst thing about it is that I have NO control over the situation and what does it teach DS? That he can get away with anything at his dad's house...

Your food from Sunday looks good!:goodvibes How did you manage only 1+ servings of Cheez-Its? Those things are so awesome, especially the white cheddar ones!:love: YUMMY!:goodvibes

I need to buckle down and get my Christmas shopping done too. I only have a few people left to buy for so that should help. Hope you're able to find something for your DS....gift cards, maybe?

Hope you have a wonderful day!:hug:

I didn't get up to do my Pilates this morning... :confused3 I need to get back on track with doing my workouts at home on Tue and Thu! I am fine dragging myself to the gym at 4:30am on M, W, F, WHY can't I consistently do my home workouts? I even get to sleep in for 1/2 hour when I work out at home! I'll get there eventually, I suppose...

For Monday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: leftover chicken stir-fry w/brown rice
S: apple; 1 egg white; string cheese
S: peppers-n-hummus; mini Twix
D: wheat spaghetti noodles w/parmesan cheese (no sauce); HC fudge bar

E: 30min on treadmill

Avoided: more Halloween candy (it's becoming more tempting, I might have to toss it soon!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, usually I can mow through half a box of Cheez-Its in a single sitting. I was still full from the enormous caramel apple and I needed something salty to calm my stomach!
Hi Amy,
Your food looks good, its really impressive that when you are in the mood to graze and eat, you hold it together!
Have you picked out a bedroom set yet?
I got online and bought two calendars yesterday. Other than that, I have done nothing. Maybe your efforts will rub off on me and I'll get my shopping done too!
So apparently my 2-3 days per month of feeling good about myself have passed... :sad1: I swear, I think that is all I get before the PMS bloating starts for the next round! :mad: I was feeling great, then yesterday afternoon I was very bloated and of course the scale reflected that this morning. Still hope that it will go away before Friday's WI, but I just need to accept the fact that it is what it is and NOT use it as an excuse to eat whatever I want! Because that is a trap I fall into every time and it doesn't do me any favors in the long run.
I just found out I have to go to India next month. And I am going to miss, yet again, DD's orchestra concert! This is her 3rd one and I have missed every one due to work travel. :sad2: At least DH gets video, but still... :guilty: And we were going to have to fly back on my b-day, but thankfully we are now coming back on the 17th instead. So instead of flying for 18hrs on my b-day, I can be dead tired from flying 18hrs the day before! :confused3 DH is still on travel, so I have no idea how we are going to work this out! He is just going to have to come back early. I hate the fact that he has to make sacrifices for my work, but I make more than him, so I win! :snooty: Just kidding of course, I don't think like that at all! But I couldn't resist... ;)
For Tuesday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: spinach salad w/chicken; cheese; LF dressing
S: 3 mini cucumbers; apple
S: peppers-n-hummus; mini Twix
D: Shake-n-Bake pork chop; peas; HC fudge bar
E: none :sad2:
Avoided: tearing into the Halloween candy!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, believe me, there have been days when I have grazed so much I couldn't even quantify the volume of crap I ate! :lmao:There was a bedroom set in the Costco catalog that we really liked, so I might look into that. As for shopping, I just got a week erased from my shopping time, so now I REALLY have to get done soon!

Tracy, thanks for stopping by!

Amy, I am so sorry you are missing dd's concert. I know that must hurt, but remember, she knows the bigger picture and knows that her mom is there for 99.9% of everything and she won't hold it against you!:hug:

And I am sorry you have to fly the day before your birthday. That stinks too. I guess at least you'll be home but still.

Drink some water with lemon tomorrow. And do you have access to a pool? I read that the weight of the water helps to force the bloat out (well they made it sound more scientific but you know what I mean). Don't let this thing that is totally out of your control bring you down. You are doing really well!

:hug: Amy,

I'm sorry to hear that you'll miss your DD's concert. :( I know that must be really hard for you, WISH sis. :hug: Try and look at the positive though...You'll be home for your birthday ( a little tired maybe ;) ) and for Christmas as well. :santa:

You've been doing a great job with your food choices, Amy! ::yes:: Drink lots of water to flush the bloat and keep up the good work with your eating. You're doing great!!!:cheer2:

As far as exercise goes, can you squeeze in a quick walk at work? Maybe at lunch? I know that it's hard to get up in the morning and workout sometimes so maybe on those days, a quick power walk at lunch will help a bit.

I hope you have a great day!:hug:

Another Thursday of not working out in the morning. Sleep is just too tempting! No idea why I have no problem with MWF cardio at the gym... I need to tone up with my Pilates or start lifting weights at the gym a couple times a week!

Work has gotten back to hectic. Which is a nice change from the nothingness of the last couple weeks! I broke the news to DD that I would be missing her concert, and she was upset but understood. This is definitely one bad aspect of being a working mother. :sad1:

Still retaining water. Not thrilled about it, but what can I do? Looking for no-change or even a gain at WI tomorrow. I just need to keep plugging along, I know my food has not been that bad, so it's not what I'm eating! It's those pesky hormones! :mad:

For Wednesday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: leftover pork chops; peas
S: 3 egg whites; 3 mini cucumbers
S: handful pecans; red pepper-n-hummus
D: taco salad (spinach, turkey meat, cheese, hot sauce); HC fudge bar

E: 45min on elliptical (4.19mi)

Avoided: after work over snacking (I'm getting into that mindset again, need to get out!)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Amy, I drink water with lemon every morning. Obviously it doesn't flush anything out of me! :confused3 But it is supposed to be good for your liver or kidneys or something, so I continue to do it. I am definitely NOT looking forward to that 3:30am flight the day before my b-day! And the 8 hour layover in London. They are on winter flight schedule, usually the layover is less than 2 hours and we leave Delhi at 8am. :sad2:
Tracy, I think (or maybe I'm fooling myself! :rolleyes:) that I get enough cardio, the workouts I am skipping are weights/Pilates. You know, the muscle building stuff. I put Jillian Michael's 30 day Shred on my Blockbuster online, I'd love to see if I could stick with that and tone back up. There is a long wait, so who knows when I'll get it!
Your food is looking good, Amy!:thumbsup2 Sending some :wizard::wizard: for weigh-in....I hope it goes well for you!:goodvibes
Weight this morning was 140. No change from last week. I am trying to look at the positive - it's not a gain! But I am still disappointed I didn't have at least a 1lb loss. Oh well, I had lost 3 lbs the week before, so maybe next week (the day after Thanksgiving! :eek:) will be better. I'm not one to go totally off the board on Thanksgiving, but I do tend to eat a bunch of sweet stuff I normally would avoid! :rolleyes: Oh well, c'est la vie!
Last night's dinner plan didn't quite pan out... I made a cheesy chicken dish in the crockpot a few months back and it was pretty bland. So DH suggested putting salsa in it for flavor. I tried it and let me tell you, it was like vomit! :scared: Both the look and smell, it was horrible. You know when you make something in the crockpot and you get home and it's so nice to smell whatever is in it? Not last night! :crazy2: I was tempted to burn the kitchen down to get rid of the smell (and get a jump start on our pending kitchen remodel!). YUCK.
For Thursday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: spinach salad w/chicken, cheese, LF dressing
S: 3 egg whites; 3 mini cucumbers
D: 2 bowls Apple Jacks; fun size M&Ms, bite size Baby Ruth
E: none
Avoided: cookies at work! :cheer2: A HUGE victory for me, I usually cave everytime there are meeting leftovers in the breakroom! :cool1:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tracy, thanks! WI could have been better, but I am fine with it. I know I have some water retention, so I'm going to try a new thing and actually NOT use it as an excuse to eat whatever I want because I'm bloated anyway! We'll see how long that lasts... :rolleyes1

Well Amy, you are right. While you didn't lose any, you didn't gain any.

I hate it when I try something new and it doesn't work. Happens quite often around here.

Great job holding steady at 140 and on avoiding those cookies in the break room!:thumbsup2

Have a nice weekend!:hug:

I did pretty good last night, considering I went out to eat (Elephant Bar restaurant). Took a couple hours off work and went on a short, but very steep hike up a mountain/hill that I've always wanted to climb. My legs were feeling it this morning! Beautiful view of the city from up there. :thumbsup2

This morning is DD's soccer game, then I need to clean and I want to wash my car. It's way past dirty, especially the windows on the inside! My kids are 13 and 10, you'd think they would not have the need to put their grimy fingers on the windows anymore... :confused3

For Friday:
B: chocolate oatmeal
L: spinach salad w/chicken, cheese, LF dressing
S: red pepper-n-hummus; freeze-dried pear; 1/2 snack pack M&Ms
D: sweet potato fries (yum); maybe 1/2 entree of sesame cashew chicken w/brown rice; 1/2 pomegranate champagne cocktail (spilled the other half! :eek:); cherry cosmo; maybe 1/4 of a pumpkin pie shake (the rest is in the freezer!) :lovestruc

E: 45min on treadmill; 30+ minute hike

Avoided: dessert at restaurant; eating the whole pumpkin shake! :cheer2:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lisa, I am very non-adventurous when it comes to making new things, I usually stick to recipes. And this is why! I hate being surprised when things don't turn out!
Tracy, I am hoping I can break this barrier and at least be at 139 or less before the end of the month. I HATE the 140s!
I managed to get through the day without snacking, but ate WAY too much at dinner! I had that over-stuffed feeling that I hate. :confused3 I don't want to go there again anytime soon, including Thanksgiving!
We ended up getting our Christmas present early - a new mattress and bedroom set. And of course I didn't sleep good at all, because I kept waking up, asking myself if the bed was really that much more comfortable than the old mattress! :rolleyes1 It's comfy, I just need to stop over analyzing it!
For Saturday:
B: 2 bowls Apple Jacks
L: peppers-n-hummus; pretzels-n-LF Laughing Cow wedge; fun size M&Ms
D: chips-n-salsa (lots); salmon taco; mahi mahi taco; rest of my pumpkin shake
E: none
Avoided: margarita at the restaurant :cheer2:
