LOST SEASON 3 **Official** Discussion/Speculation Thread (No Spoilers)

Yeah, very cultish. I thought for a moment they were trying to be like the Bible story where the guy had to sacrifice his son (I'm not religious, so excuse me not knowing their names). Is this the first time they've shown the Mittelos guy (Mascara Man or whatever) on the island? I didn't realize he lived there.

Yes, I thought maybe it was a test, to see if he would kill him. I thought that maybe Locke's father was an Other until Ben wacked him.

I also wonder if they staged the plane crash so no one would be looking for them. They seem to be very powerful. Next week is about Ben, so maybe we will get some answers.

Did anyone else think that when Sayid said he didn't recognize the technology used in Naomi's phone that it might be a clue that more than 3 months has passed in the real world? Maybe they've been there longer than they think.
That was my first thought... my second thought was that I've been reading the theories on the DIS too much.:rotfl:

This is kinda far-fetched I think, but with all the talk of Locke being "special" and everything, when Ben said "He's not who I thought he was," it made me wonder if maybe the Others thought/think that Locke is Jacob? I can't remember what all has been said about him besides that his name was in the brainwashing video, but maybe they've been waiting for him to come and lead them or something? (Or maybe I'm forgetting things that have happened already--wouldn't be the first time:rolleyes: )

When Juliet and Jack were discussing whether or not to tell Kate, wasn't it possibly that she was pregnant? Thought I remembered some speculation recently about that.....hmmmm.

This was one creepy episode. :scared1:

I don't know what to think anymore! This show just about gives me a heart attack, so many twists and turns. I thought it was a little violent tonight though, good grief! I can't hardly handle the 7 days between episodes....what am I going to do all summer????

Here are my two cents:
1) I can't stand Locke. He drives me nuts. Too many metaphors and nonsense.
2) I can't stand Jack and I'm surprised no one stands up to him! I just want to slap him.

I still say this all revolves around Hurley.....its just got too....it makes the least sense so it has to be true....sorry I have no real idea what to think right now....Hurley is just my favorite one on the show

Was Mr. Ecko alive on this episode???....I have read on 2 boards that he survived the monster and was in this episode....did I miss something????....I dont remember seeing him

I didn't notice him. Then again I wasn't looking for him either. I would love for him to still be alive, he was one of my favorite characters.

I agree with other posters who said it was really creepy that Ben would have everyone watch John kill his father. I can't make sense of why he would want to do that. I've always liked Locke's character, but after last night when he set up Sawyer to kill his father, I really dislike him. I felt so bad for Sawyer.

I'm glad that Sawyer has the tape though, it would be nice for people to trust him and not Jack.

I thought the comment that Sayid made about the phone device was interesting too. I really think this will turn out to be time travel of some sort. They probably have been on the island a lot longer than 3 months. Maybe that's why it seems people heal really fast, but in actuality, it's been years.

Did anyone notice when Sawyer asked Locke (right after Sawyer killed Locke's father) whether it was true or not that his father pushed him out of an 8-story building and that he had been paralyzed and in a wheelchair before arriving on the island and Locke's reply was "Not anymore".

This has GOT to be about time travel because: Yes, he can say "not anymore" to him being in a wheel chair, but you can't say "not anymore" to a fact like someone pushing you out of window in the past! Either it DID or DID NOT happen; but his reply "not anymore" leads me to believe that Sawyer's actions changed the past.

So I think that by Sawyer killing Locke's father, he somehow undid something that would effect what happened in the past. Got that? Anyone else think this too??

That's a good thought about the quick healing. But even time wouldn't cure Locke's paralysis.

I didn't like Locke for a long time too, but I'm starting to like him again. At least it seems like everything he's doing is to find some answers. Most of the other losties are just moping around and letting things happen to them.

I'm beginning to think that maybe the whole story is just in someone's head--maybe Hurley's.

Possible--and that would be interesting--but maybe it was just a short answer for "I'm not in a wheelchair anymore."

That would be the lamest ending to the show ever. If they do that, I'll be mad!!!

Wasn't there a show in the 80s that ended with the whole thing being a story in some kid's head? St. Elsewhere, I think?

.

Did the doctors ever tell Locke his paralysis was permanent? There are people who become paralysed after an injury, but do end up walking again:confused3

I agree. I wouldn't like it either. That's been done a few times. I'm sure they'd be more creative than that, but it is a possibility.

The other thing I wanted to bring up was, Locke's dad seemed convinced they were all dead and in hell. Do you think he really thought that or was just messing with their heads?

He seemed pretty convinced of it, but anything's possible. It's also possible that the guy he saw when he thought he was dying was just drugging him to take him to the island.

There was another really weird thing in this episode--when Rousseau walked onto the ship to take the dynamite. Locke didn't really seem surprised to see her and pretty much just said, "hey, yeah, ok, just be careful with that."

I was just wondering, if Locke's father hadn't been killed, wouldn't he have died of starvation eventually?:confused3

I just hated Locke for doing that to Sawyer.

Dallas - it was all a dream of Bobby's.

There was Dallas, too. Bobby disappeared for a couple of seasons and it turned out to be his wife's dream or something.

I just looked up St. Elsewhere-- it turned out the hospital and all the characters in it were figments of an autistic child's imagination.

I will be seriously displeased if Lost does something like that.

Yeah, I thought Rousseau showing up was really random and strange.

St Elsewhere was the dream or imagination of the autistic son of one of the doctors. If I remember correctly he had a snowglobe of the hospital.

Newhart was Bob's dream. He woke up with Suzanne Pleshette (wife from the first Newhart show) and told her 'you would not believe the dream I just had. I was married to someone else and we owned a hotel......'

I really hope Lost doesnt do this. It's been done too many times IMO
