LOST SEASON 3 **Official** Discussion/Speculation Thread (No Spoilers)

I also posted this on the spoiler thread too, but it's not a spoiler, only my theory;) Have any of you seen Millenium with Cheryl Ladd and Kris Kristofferson? The movie was about time travel. Cheryl Ladd would go back in time to take people off of planes that were going to crash and bring them back to their time and replicate the people with dead bodies and put the dead bodies on the plane and when the plane crashed, it looked like everyone was dead, but they were in fact alive in a different time. They were doing this, because they were sterile and could not reproduce. Also, they were not causing the planes to crash. Since they were time travelers, they knew when the planes would be crashing. I'm really starting to think this will have to do with time travel in some way. I guess we'll have to wait and see:)

Yes.
If they are his parents & Ben needed them to hook up, don't you think locking them in a hatch would be better. I do not buy this one at all. He would have protected Sawer better from the others.

Hey, look at Michael J. Fox. Genetics in reverse. His father was rather dorky looking, wasn't he? Okay, his mother was hot, but still :rotfl2:

If this is indeed true about Sawyer and Kate being Ben's parents, isn't that a little bit of a Back to the Future rip-off?

That almost sounds too similar. They wouldn't use almost exactly the same idea I hope.

There are already spoilers about who Bens parents were. They are not Kate/Sawyer.

Haven't made it back here in awhile! Just started a new job so am currently working 3 jobs  til my notice is up at one. Not much time to play on the DIS.

Anyway, back to the show. . . I love it more and more every week! The whole revelation at the end that the plane was supposedly found and everyone was dead was a great cliffhanger, but was anyone else on the verge of tears at how happy Sun was that the baby was Jin's, even knowing it meant she (nor the baby) would survive? That whole scene was written and played so well, the way it took a few seconds to realize those were happy tears. Loved it.

I didn't know that the writers said time travel wouldn't be involved. But they've already gone back on that with Desmond.

I haven't had a chance to listen to the podcast in the past couple weeks (gonna try and catch up tonight at work - gotta love working in radio and spending my whole shift listening to the iPod :rotfl: ) But I can't remember if it was an article, interview, or the podcast that I heard/read this, but there was an interesting way that Damon or Carlton (can't remember which - It's been a long couple of weeks! LOL) was discussing Desmond's flashback that almost insinuated that it didn't really happen the way it did that we saw in "Flashes . . ." I need to find it, but they made a distinction between the way things happened and the way Desmon thinks things happened. I just know it has me wondering if that whole flashback was Desmond's subconscious, which would eliminate any kind of time travel. They like to flirt heavily on the side of popular theories, get people excited, and then flip it completely around. (Take Mikhael - they made everyone think he was dead just to turn right around and show us he was just faking it) I'm wondering if that's what they're doing with Desmond. Giving very big hints that he went and relived this part of his life so that there's seemingly at least a little time travel involved, just to turn around in another year and debunk it as just "Oh Desmond had a concussion and was just reliving it all in his subconsious."

I just love how they keep you guessing! I can't wait for the next month of episodes but it's gonna be a LOOOOONG break! Especially if they don't come back til January!

While I think the Kate/Saywer as Ben's parents was a way out idea, please remember if you've read spoilers not to say, in essence "I've read the spoilers and you are wrong". Now, you CAN say "neener, neener, I've read the spoilers and I know the answer...just you wait!" :lmao:

It just totally threw me when the Portugese woman said that everyone on flight 815 was dead. If they believe her, they now have no hope that someone is out looking for them. Perhaps they will step things up a bit to get some real answers.
I really hope Goodwin can come back somehow - he was the best looking of them all. ...maybe more incentive for Juliette to "comply" with Ben's plan?
What a show!

Desmond has never time traveled! Desmond is a precog. That means he can see the future not leap into it. he's basically a fortune teller.

1) I am sure Dahrma made a fake crash.

2) It helps to knopw what the woman said...after knowing that you can try to decided wheither she is a LIAR like Mikahil...He lied directly to Desmond about what she said.

I think the latest theories are way far out there.

Yeah, but are you 100% sure about that?

He had that 'experience' where he knew he should be on the island but he was with Penny and he old friends. He wanted to buy her a ring and the old lady wouldn't sell it to him. Finally he woke up back on the island.

Then when they did that Desmond flash back last week where he wanted to be a Monk, the old woman was in the photo on the Monk's desk.

Things that make you go hmmm? :scratchin

I was thinking about it, after I saw the woman in the photo on the man's desk. Since we now know Desmond had probably seen that photo before, during his time at the monestary, he would have reason to have incorporated her into his "retrovision".

Yes, I am going hmmmmm. Love that a TV show can make me do that again.

Subscribing! I love Lost and no one else in my family watches.

Now am going back and catching up :)

I just cheated and read a spoiler for this whole episode. Things are changing quite a bit...I'm not sure what to believe though.

There's a question that I've had for a while that I keep forgetting to ask anyone about...but tonight I remembered it again. Was there ever a flashback showing Locke in the airport or boarding the plane? Didn't any of the other losties notice that Locke was in a wheelchair?

They did show him in the wheelchair at the airport but other than maybe Rose I don't think anyone really noticed him. Wheelchair folks board planes first so he'd have been seated when they got on the plane and well, each of them seemed to be lost in their own thoughts/problems when getting on the plane.

I thought we all saw him in a wheelchair in the airport (maybe in a Hurley flashback epi :confused3 ), but I could be wrong.

I kind of remember a shot of Locke being carried onto the airplane and put into his seat. I think it was in Season 1?

REALLY good episode. I can't believe Kate was so stupid, but it does fit in with her character. That's why I love this show - not only is the plot amazing, the characters are some of the fullest realized I've ever seen on tv.
