LOST SEASON 3 **Official** Discussion/Speculation Thread (No Spoilers)

There was Dallas, too. Bobby disappeared for a couple of seasons and it turned out to be his wife's dream or something.

I just looked up St. Elsewhere-- it turned out the hospital and all the characters in it were figments of an autistic child's imagination.

I will be seriously displeased if Lost does something like that.

Newhart was another one that did that. He woke up in the final episode of the show where he ran the bed & breakfast in Vermont and was back in his first show as a psychiatrist.

Did anyone notice when Sawyer asked Locke (right after Sawyer killed Locke's father) whether it was true or not that his father pushed him out of an 8-story building and that he had been paralyzed and in a wheelchair before arriving on the island and Locke's reply was "Not anymore".

This has GOT to be about time travel because: Yes, he can say "not anymore" to him being in a wheel chair, but you can't say "not anymore" to a fact like someone pushing you out of window in the past! Either it DID or DID NOT happen; but his reply "not anymore" leads me to believe that Sawyer's actions changed the past.

So I think that by Sawyer killing Locke's father, he somehow undid something that would effect what happened in the past. Got that? Anyone else think this too??
I assumed he just said "not anymore" because Ben had been saying he would always be the person he was before the crash until he could let go of his father. Since he let him go by having Sawyer killing him, he wasn't the same person anymore.

I find it interesting that the plane was found with all the bodies
and what was up with juliet telling jack we should tell kate
what do you think she is talking about

That would be the lamest ending to the show ever. If they do that, I'll be mad!!!

Wasn't there a show in the 80s that ended with the whole thing being a story in some kid's head? St. Elsewhere, I think?

thats whats gonna happen....its gonna be a simple silly explanation to this whole thing and they will do a timeline showing us all the clues and how we missed them....we will be like why didnt i think of that....:rotfl:

Peeking in, slow day at work so far, haha.

I think it was symbolic, not to be taken literally. Meaning that part of his life is behind him, he's a new person now that his father is finally gone. I think Locke truly sees himself as a completely different person on the island, so the fact that his one last tie to that old John Locke is gone, he's now free to be the new John Locke.

He seemed pretty convinced of it, but anything's possible. It's also possible that the guy he saw when he thought he was dying was just drugging him to take him to the island.

There was another really weird thing in this episode--when Rousseau walked onto the ship to take the dynamite. Locke didn't really seem surprised to see her and pretty much just said, "hey, yeah, ok, just be careful with that."

I wanna know what she has up her sleeve if she needs a whole case! We know she's used it before, but there has to be a reason they're having her collect an entire case of explosives right as we're nearing the end of the season!

I have a theory, but it's a couple steps away from spoilers so I don't want to say anything here. I need to find the spoiler thread. It's nothing huge as far as spoilers, something anyone that's seen previews or read articles can figure out (the spoiler I'm basing this on, not the theory I have) but I don't want to post it here and ruin anything for anyone staying away from all spoilers.

You always have good theories. I'll look for it on the spoiler board later.

Yeah, I thought Rousseau showing up was really random and strange.
I thought it was kind of funny. Just because it was sort of random--all she did was get the dynamite and leave. She didn't do anything else. So either it was just thrown in there for fun, or she's planning something.

The other thing I wanted to bring up was, Locke's dad seemed convinced they were all dead and in hell. Do you think he really thought that or was just messing with their heads?
Well he's a con man, so he could very easily be messing with their heads. They shouldn't be dead because the writers have denied that. There are now two people who say they are dead, but that could be misinformation. The Others know what's going on in the real world, so they would know what has been shown on the news concerning the flight. So maybe we'll get to find out what that is eventually.

They did show him in the wheelchair at the airport but other than maybe Rose I don't think anyone really noticed him.
Yea, I thought Rose remembered him being in the wheelchair (she had a little contact with him in the airport waiting area in a flashback). I remember a scene with the two of them where it seemed she remembered, but wasn't going to say anything because she's in the same boat, feeling she was cure of her ailment after reaching the island.

Newhart was Bob's dream. He woke up with Suzanne Pleshette (wife from the first Newhart show) and told her 'you would not believe the dream I just had. I was married to someone else and we owned a hotel......'
It was funny on Newhart, though. :rotfl: because it was a comedy. It wouldn't be funny on a drama where you're wondering what's going on. I never watched Dallas or St. Elsewhere, but I know that it would be a complete cop-out and a horrible way to end a series like Lost. I thought the producers had already said it wouldn't turn out to be a dream.

I assumed he just said "not anymore" because Ben had been saying he would always be the person he was before the crash until he could let go of his father. Since he let him go by having Sawyer killing him, he wasn't the same person anymore.
::yes:: That's what I was thinking.

The plane being found with all the bodies bothers me. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I didn't think they searched the bottom of the ocean so thoroughly. I thought when they found part of a planes wreckage in the ocean, they just assumed everyone was dead. Even if they sent cameras to the bottom to find the entire plane (which the Others could have moved there or faked somehow), would they really have sent them through the wreckage and counted the dead bodies? I didn't think that was standard procedure.

So even though it's plausible that the Others faked it, I find it hard to believe that people like Naomi are so convinced that everyone was dead. If I was Naomi in a situation like that, I'd be responding "Holy Cow! There were survivors?!", not "No, those people are all dead." :confused3

I don't know what to think anymore! This show just about gives me a heart attack, so many twists and turns. I thought it was a little violent tonight though, good grief! I can't hardly handle the 7 days between episodes....what am I going to do all summer????

Here are my two cents:
1) I can't stand Locke. He drives me nuts. Too many metaphors and nonsense.
2) I can't stand Jack and I'm surprised no one stands up to him! I just want to slap him.

All summer? I have read that Lost will not be back on until January, and will then run with no repeats. And you know we will have a cliffhanger ending.

I would be very disappointed if they do a St. Elsewhere ending. I just refused to believe that ending. I did think the Newhart ending was funny.

The worse thing will be if they give us no ending. The show just goes off the air with everyone still on the island.

I thougt the Rosseau thing was strange too. When we first saw her on the island she was crazy, now she seems almost normal. Just another island riddle.

You're right that Naomi's reaction was odd. And I don't believe that they could have found all of the bodies either.

Was Mr. Ecko alive on this episode???....I have read on 2 boards that he survived the monster and was in this episode....did I miss something????....I dont remember seeing him

If I remember, they buried him, and he IS dead. All comments have been that, "dead is dead", you can't be resurrected on this island.

Nope not gonna happen! I'm about 100% certain...won't go into why as it may be too spoilerish for those that have not caught the clues, but im pretty positive it's not a dream.

If you think about it they keep playing with the theories that people have been having on the big lost web sites basically tellign us nope your wrong again!

100% fake crash no doubt in my mind!

I'm wondering if Jack and Julite are playing games with Ben feeding him false info.

Maybe she's gonna start a war to get her daughter back!

Why do you think Jack doesn't react to Kate about the girl parachuting in and saving them? What do Jack and Juliet know???
Is the recorded tape that Locke gave Sawyer the tape jUliet used after checking on Sun????

I wanted to smack Kate for running to Jack and telling him everything. She of all people knows what the Others are capable of and the way Jack has been hanging out with Juliet, you'd think Kate of all people would NOT trust Jack at all. What a blabbermouth!

And yes, it was strange that Jack didn't have more of a reaction when Kate told him about a woman parachuting onto the island. Almost like he expected it maybe?:confused3

Well, it looks like the same tape recorder that Juliet used after Sun's sonogram, and we saw Ben listening to the tape and then putting it in a drawer right when Locke came into the room, but on this show, you never know! I wouldn't put it past Ben to somehow change the tape. Hopefully Sawyer will be smart enough to listen to the tape before he gets back to the beach and says "here's proof that Juliet is a mole."

I was thinking that, too...He better listen to that tape before he says, "Hey guys, I got proof!!! ---it turns out to be somthing else...

Dallas - it was all a dream of Bobby's.

I know Dallas brought Bobby back, but didn't watch the show. There were two shows that I remeber ended up similarly. St, Elsewhere turned out to be all in Dr. Westphal's autistic son's head. and Newhart turned out to be a dream and they were really back in the Bob Newhart show and he was in bed with Suzanne Pleshette.

I really hate Kate!

Anway I thought Jack had a big reaction!!! His face said it all and he got up like he was going to run and see her...we just didn't go back to the beach after that!
