I have to say that reading this thread today has been like being on a roller coaster. I can only hope that if I disappeared from the boards that I’d be missed by some too that they would make a thread looking for me. I didn’t have to like Lordmanhammer’s posts but he was part of this community and is obviously missed by others. I’m sure we all have those we miss that have dropped from the boards for one reason or another through the years. The DIS is a wonderful community full of interesting people that I have learned a lot from throughout my years here, so I am grateful for all of you.

It was back some years ago, but someone in the TR section of the DIS mentioned that a woman stalked them (or something?) when they posted their trip plans. Not sure if the same thing happened to this poster? You never know who is out there, I guess.

I only got 3 hours of sleep last night and I wasn't even on the DIS. It's that damn TikTok...gets me every time.

Actually, the Controversial Board has been friendlier than this thread.

I'm not sure people have been hateful. It's just quoting what one member has stated in the context of an absence. He didn't seem to mind posting line-toeing comments, so I'm sure wouldn't mind them being requoted here since he is the one who said it. I agree that we probably shouldn't speculate on an absence but I think it's par for the course with a discussion board. People want to know what happened when someone disappears.

And some of the threads in the Controversial Board have gotten pretty hateful, but some of it seems to be one member targeting another for a difference in beliefs so fairly isolated.

Hateful might be the wrong word. Unpleasant truths may have been called out, but people are saying what others are thinking.

Fellow Dis'ers - I just want to reiterate that I started this thread because I wondered why he stopped posting. He was very active on the boards and was just curious why he dropped off so suddenly.

In my interactions with him on the various threads I enjoyed the banter and his thoughts since he is much different than me. That is one of reasons why I like the boards since there are so many different viewpoints and opinions and are "usually" expressed in a positive way since we all love Disney.

So apparently I missed the allegedly "ick" posts in other threads and didn't see that side of him. The only reason why I said "allegedly" is that I never came across those threads or have since searched out those other posts to read his comments. I just want to move along

With that said, I would never cross those lines and would never condone or support those who choose to say these type of things on the DL board. For me personally, I like to communicate/post/like those that are looking to have fun and enjoy DL which translates to a lot of positive interactions.

To leave on a positive note, lets move forward, I hope tomorrow is a new day filled with positive vibes for you all. Cheers!

Yeah - I never understand why people post their trip plans.
Even worse people post it on Facebook etc.. and people then know your house may be empty for that period of time.
Odds are low - and its probably rare- but it does happen.
I don't even tell people I work with - I am just out of office working on my yard. They may be fine to tell, but their significant other may not be - that sure seems to be very common.

Every year I see threads for HHN where people post their dates and hotels and the night(s) they will be at HHN.
You are just asking for trouble.

Would be much more sensible to say meet at 2PM on Fridays at Finnegan's if you want to meet others from the boards.

Just because I am paranoid does not mean they are not out to get me.
