Thanks girls!!!! We'll see what happens.....

Laura - I'm over 4000 posts and STILL no tag fairy!!!:headache:

The tag fairy only hits people who are jumping around all those community boards rants and such...they aren't going to be on any of our on going threads. I got mine when I chimed in on a thread about being afraid of the popping sound that a can of biscuits makes when you open it! Stupid!

He tested positive for cocaine. That's all I know at this point. That's why he was taken from the mother. This was her THIRD child born this way. I don't know where the first one is. The second one was just adopted by Jeff's salesman. And the third is the little boy we're thinking of adopting. According to Jeff's salesman, he doesn't seem to have any problems, he's a "good baby" but I think a lot of drug addicted babies don't show problems until later in life. I think learning disabilities is a big issue. This is one of the big questions we have for the social worker.

AND the fact that the father (or at least the one the mother thinks is the father....) won't take a paternity test cause he say's the baby is not his. Well, if he won't take a paternity test, he could come back 7 years from now, take the test, and want the child. So he would HAVE to take the test and give up rights before we could even do this. Otherwise, too many variables down the road....
#1 point: I know a person who adopted a baby born ADDICTED to cocaine - they had to use methadone to wean him off - so really bad addiction. Anyway - the last I heard (last year) he was in gifted classes. Really great kid.

Sidebar: Kara, you never know anything in this life. Seriously - you, Ally or Jeff could have anything wrong with you at any given point? Would you love each other less? No... Would you find a way to be supportive and get through it if you had to? You bet. :confused3 I mean, I hear you. That is a lot to take on, but you can't sit around and second guess if he is okay, because not anyone knows that really. KWIM? Get more details and definatly research the topic - my thoughs go to MAYO clinic's resources on the website or the AAPediatrics - they have good stuff. Don't read other crap though.

We had to hold our breath after Nicolas was born for months. They thought his jaundice level had climbed high enough where we might be dealing with severe mental development issues - but he's fine. Either way, I don't think I would have loved him any more or less. Carlos feels differently - he wasn't so up to the challenge. He didn't agree with my decision to not do tests when I was pregnant - they recommended an amnio and I refused. WHY? Anyway, I'm rambling to say that I hear you and I do understand, yet at the same time.... my heart just says keep in mind that 90% of what you hear about are either the bad cases.

Siblings: Now granted Nicolas was only almost 3 - but he has so loved Mia. To this day, she gets in trouble and he wants to take spankings for her, etc. etc. He is just overprotective and loves her to the end of the earth. I catch them holding hands - she gets scolded and runs to him and he holds her. It is just a beautiful thing to watch. Each child is different and it is personality and age driven, but my thought would be with Ally that she'd really be like a little mom to him - and you wouldn't have a lot of squabling since there IS a big gap in their ages - she can understand on a different level now.

Well girls off to Babies R us to get Sippy cups and I need to figure out this whole potty training thing.

Lorrie I expect advice!

Also I am going to pop into the party store to get an idea for Badookies 2nd Birthday.
THREE AND A HALF! Serioulsy Jillian, my pediatrician told me that boys are wired differently and I could "Potty" train him early, but that I would be more or less training myself to chase after him and ask "do you need to potty?". We started at 2 - he didn't get it until he was... 3 years, 6 1/2 months. One day he went to the potty and has ever since. :confused3 For us, the seat that went on the potty worked better with him - like what we are using I guess.

Mia is a girl and if I really worked with her now, she'd have it down. I just don't want to right before WDW. She is scared of loud noises and the auto flushing potties would not be pretty with her - she hates them. SO after we get back, I will start her with pull ups.

hey I hit 1000 post but no tag fairy
okay - stupid question, I know - but what is a tag fairy? What is a tag too - btw!

DATE NIGHT TONIGHT :woohoo: We get a 1 hour dinner! :rotfl2: I'll TAKE it! The kids are on my nerves today. I called to see if there was any openings for CM while we were down there - of course the cast memeber comes on as I'm threating Nicolas. He paused for a minute and then started talking. I sware, they are quiet until I want to get on a phone call with someone that isn't just to chat! It is like a zoo - I tell you!

Did I mention my trip next week is now 3 NON DISNEY nights? It will be fun though. 3 nights of sleep with no kids to watch after. Then I come home to at least a week of niceness from Carlos. After I'm gone a couple of days, he so appreciates me - for a week! :rotfl2:

Okay, I need some advice here. Feel free to dish out tough love if needed, because I'm at the end of my rope!

So our bonus room/play room was nice and clean this morning. With 3 hours on their hands~ off comes the sofa pillows - which I HATE!

Then, the buckets get pillaged.
IMG_0261.jpg

And dumped all over the floor
IMG_0260.jpg

The playhouse gets wrecked, toys get pulled out.
IMG_0262.jpg

This is driving me NUTS! It is like I clean up just for them to destroy. It is NEVER ENDING! I don't know if I should be mad, or cry, or what?

Do we have too many toys, does everyone's kids do this - what? I just need it to stop! Suggestions? Thoughts? Paxil? :confused3

Lorrie - it's still happening at age 8..... just the toys are different. It's hair bows, and barbies, and clothes, and shoes..... never ending. I clean her room about once a month when I've had enough. Otherwise, I yell at least once or twice a week for HER to clean. It just doesn't happen though.... :sad2: Ally is spoiled rotten. You should see her closet - clothes and shoes like a freakin movie star. It drives my mom nuts!!! And way too many toys, which is why I"m doing craigslist like there's no tomorrow!

Kara - don't tell me that! :scared1:

I've decided the train table downstairs is outta here, and as I was just picking up, I realized that we probably could stand to get rid of over 75% of this stuff! They just scatter it all over! :confused3

i'm right there tooo! the train table has to go. it just is a space eater. I swore those photos were of my basement.

kara's right-- girls get worse when they get older. My mom rolls her eyes every time she comes over. Oh well Beth is a somewhat well-adjusted child and I will take that anyday.

lorrie-- i think we are going to miss each other by a year when you and Carlos go next year :( but hopefully miss jillian will live down there so we can meet

What makes my mess here worse is that Nicolas is (has always been) into the smaller figure toys which just get everywhere. Mia started out having no toys - now she is the one with the overflow. I have 4 rubbermaid totes (big ones) of toys I picked up about a month or two ago and put in. Neither of them have missed anything in there. NOTHING!

ERRRRRRR....

Laura - I was saying we could have a non-dis meet when you win that sweepstakes! :) I'm sure I know where they'll do the preview - it is kinda cool - they do the red carpet and everything.

Yeah, Carlos could've moved to Orlando and I said no....:rolleyes1

Now we're with a company that gives us the choice of here or AL! I'll stay here thank you very much. :yes

I don't know if y'all have a schwans man that comes to your house but it is so wrong. :) I just bought 5 different kinds of ice cream. Their catalog is so fully really tummy things and they bring to your door. See why I say it's wrong. Oh well gotta keep the econmy running somehow.

Their is one that services our street, but I've never bought from them. My SM bought from them a lot when I was in college.

I'm not a big ice cream fan - I know, I KNOW... :confused3

Hey, Kara - look who's saying y'all!:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I've seen the Schwans man here but never ordered. I remember when I was a kid we had a milkman and he came once a week. It was always right before the school bus came and he would come in and tell my mom about the ice cream specials. It was always a special ocassion when mom would cave in and get ice cream. I feel so old!!!

Tonight we are watching our old neighbors' kids. They sold their house and are renting a place in another part of the neighborhood until school lets out, and then moving to Punta Gorda. Anyway, don't know why I"m rambling about watching their kids, but that's what we're doing tonight. And I'm gonna rearrange some furniture upstairs to prepare for Ally getting our furniture sometime next week I think. I just hope this furniture all gets here before Jeff's parents get here on Friday. Otherwise it will be a nightmare.

Oh, inlaw drama unfolding. So Jeff's parents are coming in on Friday, and Jeff's aunt and uncle are getting here Monday. But they are staying in Orlando over the weekend. so they invited us all down on Sunday. His aunt and uncle are going to visit his cousin (the one with the universal passes) on Sunday and want us to come. So Jeff's parents are going to drive down Sunday, get to his house about 10am, go to universal until 2 (yes, about 3 hrs by the time they park, etc.) and then back to his house for dinner, and leave by 4:30. They wanted us to make this round trip drive with them and Jeff gave them a definite NO. So his mom calls me Tues night while Jeff is at work, knowing he already told her no trying to convince me to go. I told her we had already talked about it and didn't want to go this time. So she calls Jeff the next night and tries again. Each time saying, "no pressure if you don't want to go...." but just non-stop guilt. "Your dad doesn't know how to get there" and "I know your aunt would love to see Ally at an amusement park" etc. Really playing games.

So then they will drive back here Sunday night (2 1/2 hrs) and then turn around Monday morning and drive an hour south to St Augustine to meet Jeff's aunt and uncle so they can "follow us back to your house." Seriously. Like they are suddenly the human compass even though they can't get to Orlando from here.

It's gonna be a rough week. But I know I'll have some gooooooood stories! :rotfl2: For instance, his mom told me where everyone is sleeping. Oh, really? Yes, really! She said they would "give the guest room to" Jeff's aunt and uncle. How kind.... :sad2: And they'll take Ally's room. Oh really? I told them they can only have Ally's old room if she's in the new room by then. Just cause I felt like being evil. :rotfl2:

His mom said she doesn't care where they sleep as long as there's a TV in there. I said, "oh there will be a TV in there but there's no cable hookup." And it's true!!! She told me "well, you'll need to go buy an antenna or something."

Uh. Don't think so. So we'll have to hear about it, I'm sure....

It's cause his dad goes to bed at 7pm, and then wakes up at 3am and watches TV until 6. If he would go to bed at 10 he'd sleep until 6!!!! But he won't even try to stay up later and get on a normal schedule. It's nuts.

OK, enough rambling for awhile. No, no news yet. Jeff hasn't gotten the call for the appointment yet....

Kara -my word!

Don't the TV's need digital converters to run now? So, I would tell her nope.

That story could have came right from my inlaws. She calls Carlos - he says no - she then calls me but ACTS like that conversation has not even happened yet. I've learned to let the answering machine get the phone and then call Carlos to see the scoop before I talk to her. MIND GAMES.

Speaking of Mind Games.

My BIL is married to SIL - long story but they live together, are waiting to sell the house before they split. Have a 1 year old - but both dates other people. :confused3

Anywhoo - she gets his cell phone and texted all the girls in there that he DIED and she will let them know funeral arrangements once it is all done. :scared1: Then about 4 hours later she texts them all some nonsense about now they know what she feels like to have lost him.

In the meantime, one of the girls calls his brother - THANK GOODNESS no one called his mother.

Seriously, these people are crazy!:scared: I married into a pack of loons! :scared:

OMG!!! I'm like Laura, I had to laugh!!! What is it with people?

Jeff was mad that I told my family about the possible adoption. I'm like, THEY ARE MY FAMILY!!! I talk to them. What's the big deal? I told them exactly what is happening, and that we haven't even met with anyone yet, yada yada yada. But he will wait. Probably cause his family is so negative about everything and will find reasons for us not to do this. "you know he could have a lot of problems," "how do you know the mother won't try to steal him back," "it's gonna cost you a lot of money," "that's not fair to Ally," etc, etc. So he's probably right to keep his mouth shut for now.

My parents? They said, "good for you, we hope everythign works out." Then it was so cute, my dad called back about an hour later just to say, "I think it's really cool what you and Jeff are thinking of doing." :goodvibes My dad is awesome. He's giddy with excitement at the whole prospect right now! I'm surprised he hasn't called already today!!!!

I think we're gonna go and switch mattresses before our new one is delivered. Jeff really wants a tempurpedic. Laura, didn't you work there? Jeff has been researching a lot and likes the new latex mattresses and tempurpedic, both getting high reviews. When we tested them though, I didn't like it. Everyone said it takes some getting used to. :confused3

Right now Jeff is pressure washing the trim on the house. We have so many pine trees all over that the sap gets on the house and the trim and looks gross. All I know is he is making a mess.

So off to shower and then off to look at mattresses again!

I have all the windows open. I've decided that it is spring regardless is there is snow on the ground or not.
