I am wondering if anyone has done this or know how it would work. We are going to Disney dec 2018, I heard that if you are a Florida resident you can get annual passes for a very good price and kids are very good prices.
I have an aunt that lives in florida would she be able to buy my son an AP as a gift to him for our trip.
I forgot to add that we are Canadians and we live in Canada. my aunt lives in florida and is dual citizenship

I believe in the past, this worked for kids but not adults (and their definition of adult is pretty generous) as all adults need to have a proof of FL residency. For the kids, I think they have to be with the aunt to show the Florida resident ID when you first activate it.

Honestly, if I was going to do this, I would call Disney and ask them if it's possible and what the process is (Just call and "My aunt who's a Florida resident has offered to get APs for our kids (give the age). Can she do that? If so, can she can some for us as well? What do we need to do when we activate the kids' passes?"). Having said that, I suspect that you can find information from others (maybe not so much in the Canadian forum though).

Even if you COULD do this to buy the current CDN resident ticket is much cheaper since there is only one AP for Florida Residents -- no adult or child difference AND you would need to have the Platinum to have no blackout dates (most of December)

Cost for that pass is upload_2018-1-22_11-24-48.png

Cost for a 10 day CDN child's ticket (age 3 - 9) with hopping is (just chose the most $$ for cost comparison, of course fewer days will be cheaper!)

This link seems to say that it is possible for kids:

Because of the Dec 2018 (assuming that's over XMas) visit requirement, I kind of have to agree with the previous poster that the Canadian deal is better but comparing the two is really apples oranges unless you plan on only spending 10 days at the parks and not going for the rest of the year.

A better comparison (but still not quite the same because they can't be used in Dec 2018) is 4 day Canadian deal for $264USD ($324 with ParkHopper) must be used within 14 days to a 4 day FL resident for $179USD ($216.50USD with ParkHopper) must be used between now and June 28th 2018 (note that the main page says they can't be used on consecutive days but the purchase page does not say that so I'd inquire). (FWIW, we pretty much never go to parks on consecutive days anyways).

If the trip is not planned between mid-Dec and early-Jan, Disney does typically offer the Florida Resident tickets that you can use in December, just not around XMas (it just happens that the current offer expires at the end of June).
