Live from the Poly!- May 27 - June 4

We had lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern, which I would do again. We generally try to avoid table service lunches, but it's happened a lot this trip. LTT was one of the highlights of that.

We also ran into the MK Philharmonic while we were in Liberty Square:

Afterwards, the darndest thing happened - Q & W wanted to ride Haunted Mansion. So, T took them ("oh, but honey! I've already gone - you should go!" :lmao:) while C and I rode small world (I told you it was my favorite!)

Afterwards, we rode the carousel, then PhilharMagic, then Pirates, then we just chilled for a bit until it was time for our Splash Mountain FP.

After Splash Mountain (where I was stuck in the front row and proceeded to get SOAKED), we rode the train to the Main Street Station, where we arrived just in time for the Flag Retreat.

C had read somewhere (probably in a scout magazine) that it fulfilled an arrow point requirement, so he was excited to see it.

The Barber Shop Quartet just before:

And the actual retreat:

So then, it was off to Epcot for dinner (eat around the world - hooray!!)

Mexico, nachos. China, eggrolls. Germany, brats (And HELLO!! Breaking news!!! They no longer have brown mustard available. Because nothing says delicious like a brat and sauerkraut and YELLOW MUSTARD. Blech).

But, while in Germany, W did make some friends around a rousing game of soccer:

America, Funnel Cakes (or, as I first thought the sign said "Funnel Carbs". Pretty much the same thing!). Nothing in Italy, because by then we were STUFFED. And by Japan, I was just ready for my slushie, so I was over any thought of teriyaki. Bypassed Morocco (because I was on a mission) and finally, France.

I like to call this - taking one for the team:

Because when Mom finally gets her Grand Marnier Grey Goose slushie, the world may begin rotating again.

So, from there, we crossed the English Channel and let the kids run like wildebeests in the hedge maze, where they met other children doing the same, and I met other parents who all wanted to know where I found the decadence that is the slushie.

And then, when the big announcer voice man came over the PA to say it was 15 minutes to IllumiNations, we rounded up the herd and beat feeted it out of there.

Which brings us to now, when everyone is showered and in bed, T is faux-watching game 2 of the NBA Finals, and I'm wrapping this up so I can shower and go to bed, too.

Tomorrow is breakfast at 'Ohana, after which you'll find my laziness in a lounge chair in a cabana, and then dinner at Artist Point. I remember looking at tomorrow on our itinerary at the beginning of the trip and thinking it was so far away! Now, here it is :sad1:

Your pictures are gorgeous and the weather looks incredible!! I'm so disappointed we couldn't get the Poly for our fall mini-trip! Booked the GF, but I don't think anything can beat the Poly - hope something opens up.

Have a peaceful day today :thumbsup2

Your pictures are amazing, keep them coming, especially of the POLY! We'll be there in 5 days! :thumbsup2

Sounds like your family is having a fun vacation! Your pictures are great! Enjoy your cabana time today! We only have about 2 weeks left and we will finally be there too! :cool1:

I need to ask, what kind of camera are you using? Your photos are fabulous! Great clarity, and you find great shots!

Interesting observation regarding CM's. It will be interesting to see what happens. Sorry you had some grouchy ones. :sad2:

We're docking at Wilderness Lodge - heading to Artist Point for dinner.

Another great day in the cabana!!

Safe travels home! Thank you so much for the trip report. Your photos are wonderful, and they are helping fill that void until August!

I also enjoyed your report because we also are commando, so it was really like being there! The slushie pic is fabulous with the dusk sky...perfect end to eating around the world!

Heading off to Downtown Disney in a bit, then off to the airport.

I'll finish up the last few days soon!!

Cheryl ~

I just found your live report and you're heading for the airport! I'm always a day late and a dollar short.....

The cabana at the Poly sounds heavenly. We'll be back at the Poly in October.....I might just have to try one out!

Loved your stormy pics. So cool.

Oh and I'm north of Indy too --- in Westfield.

Hope you have a safe trip home!

Debbie

I use a Canon Rebel T2i, and on this trip, I'm shooting exclusively with my Sigma DC 17-70mm 1:2.8-4 Macro HSM lens.

The biggest tip I can give is to learn how to use the camera you have, and to take it off automatic. Even point & shoots can take great pictures when the user takes control!

Ok - my favorite snack credit usage so far? The Genie Goofy Glacier at Goofy's Candy Company!!

Just bought that camera yesterday. I've been having fun getting acquainted with it.

Enjoy it! It's a great camera - I was one step away from a (much pricier) 10D when I found it. It's definitely not highly advertised by Canon. Truly, the only thing that makes it a non-pro is the cropped sensor. And once you get used to that (slight, IMO) limitation, you're good to go!

I replaced an older model Rebel dSLR with it, so I didn't have a huge Canon learing curve - but even so, it's an easy camera to learn. And the quick dial change ISO is a huge plus!!

Hi, just found your thread. Thanks for the TR! I wasn't aware you could rent cabanas at the Poly. Where can i find more information on this, such as prices, etc? Thanks a bunch

I always find live TR's when they aren't live anymore :lmao: Looks like you all had a grand time - would love to stay at the Poly (if only they opened it up to DVC then I would rent points there. I'm too cheap to pay usual rates :rotfl2:)

It's so fun to live the trip through each day's live activities - thanks for sharing with us!

Your trip report was wonderful! Thanks so much for taking the time each day to share your adventures with us! I'm so glad you had a great time; you made me feel like I was right there with you!
