Live from the Poly!- May 27 - June 4

grrrr - just had today's post typed up and the mi-fi died!!! Trying again, but will have less detail, because it's 10 o'clock already........

last night - water pageant:

This morning - DHS for Star Wars Weekend - and were there at 8 to be ready for rope drop at 9.

Only, when we got there, it was already open!!!! So, we walked in and walked on TSM, NO WAIT. Also grabbed FP for later.

Headed to Star Tours (and were shocked an a little sick to see the stanchions they had set up for the lines they were expecting - all along the pathway beside the Tatooine Trading Post!!! :scared1:).

We walked on here, too, and grabbed FP (our window had just opened).

From there, headed to Muppets 3D, which is a perennial favorite. I love the queue, and always find something I've never noticed before. Apparently, I've never looked up, because this is what I found this time:

Out we came, into a Star Wars meet & greet. We were a few groups back from getting Commander Rex, but were equally happy with Commander Cody:

By now, our window for TSM FP had started, so we headed back. Always fun! The standby line by now (10:30 ish) was 60 minutes.

Off to ABC Commissary for lunch (because it was close, pure and simple), then we lucked into a great spot for the Star Wars parade. Front row meant lots of interaction, including high fives from Clone Trooper Donald!!

Hand a cute 8 yo boy a camera, and the characters respond. Stand behind him, and you can get the great pictures, too :rotfl:

Now it's back to Star Tours to use our FP. And we were thrilled to have them, because those stanchions are FULL!!!!!! Blech.

Afterwards, they forced you to exit back by Muppets, and guess who we ran into??

Apparently the Tri State Area school district finally made up all those snow days, because summer vacation is in full swing!!

The queue was stagnant, sunny, and unbearably hot. So hot, in fact, that my lens filter cracked in the heat!!! Off duty CMs were in line ahead of us, and they were discussing the line modifications that would be needed. Shade drapes and misting fans were on their list - I hope they happen!! It was awful.

From there it was ice cream, great movie ride (a necessity!), Tower of Terror, and a little shopping. By then, we were fed up with the heat and crowds, so we left. It certainly wasn't a regular day for us at DHS, but we hit our highlights and were happy.

Tonight was dinner at Capt Cooks (average, but the grown up grilled cheese *is* good) and pool time.

Tomorrow is Epcot, with lunch at Via Napoli and dinner at Nine Dragons.

And now, for the second time - g'night all! This better post this time!!!

I had a hard time enjoying casual drinks with the girls in the neighborhood this evening- as I just wanted to get home and read your live trip report from today!!:rotfl:

Must say we loved the cabana. We also had Heather as an attendant last week. She was a sport!

The straw pic at WC is soo darn cute! She looks thrilled to have her hair done up by a "professional waitress/hairdresser! Lol:rotfl2: keep going on your LR we feel like we know you already and we haven't even done our cabana meet and greet!:lmao: I am definatley partial to the piña colava but I want to try the banana drink that someone mentioned on the Poly FAQ thread!! I admit it, I am not a heavy drinker and do like the fruity potent drinks that taste good rather than burn taste buds off my tongue. I will be bringing a bottle of captain Morgans to mix with my free $1000 coke in the cabana!:lmao:
Don't be "mean mommy" be "hakuna matatada" mommy! What's the worse that could happen? they take advantage and get Icecream at 10am? :confused3 whatever!!!:thumbsup2:rotfl2:

Aloha!

I am LOVING your live trip report! I will be at the Poly in July and I just cant wait!!! Thanks for taking us along on your trip. :goodvibes

I loved the pics of the storm, these were awesome.

Looks like you are having a great time!
How's the temp in WDW? I can't help feeling sorry for the Chewbacca CM.

Just finishing dinner at Nine Dragons, then off to find a place to park for IllumiNations!!

The kids are Disney Warriors - rope drop to fireworks!

Sorry guys - my update tonight is this :

I'm pooped and going to bed :upsidedow

Quickly - Epcot today, rope drop to IlluniNations. Lunch at Via Napoli, dinner at Nine Dragons. Crowds were INSANE (110 minute standby for Test Track at the peak, 70 minutes foe Soarin'). Rode Test Track, Mission Space (green), Ellen's Energy Adventure (which my kids love), Spaceship Earth, Mexico boat ride, Maelstrom, and Living with the Land each once, and Soarin' twice.

We also had an unusual (for us) traffic pattern and walked more today than we ever have at Epcot. It was the same temp as yesterday, but felt 15* cooler, at least. (I swear DHS is the hottest park - so much asphalt and concrete, so little green space!!!)

Monorail transport was very smooth - no wait to speak of. That's gotten a bum rap lately, but we had an excellent experience.

Tomorrow is breakast at Cindy's and dinner at Tony's. BBB for Q mid-day. Hard telling what else the day will bring!!

Tomorrow is b'fast with Cindy

Sorry for the typos. My phone is funky with editing them

Also - full review of Via Napoli and photos of today tomorrow. Hopefully.

We're heading down in Aug for our first Poly trip and have the cabana for half a day. After reading your report I'm going to see about doing the full day! So glad to finally see a report about the cabana!!

Heading down for my first 'adult' Poly trip in august...cant' wait
I went many times as a child.

Loving your trip report....keep it up! :goodvibes

Ill be interested to hear your via napoli review...! we would like to go there on our next trip.. We popped in there on our last trip, when it was brand new...and the ovens look awesome...all I can think of when I look at them is...mystical greek gods! Id like to know if they toss the pizzas or not.:)

Lovin' your trip report. We'll be there in one week. We are also heading to SWW so thank you for posting the pics. :thumbsup2 I hope they open the park early when we go as well. When they did, were all the rides running? We wanted to get there for rope drop.

I'm having withdrawals, wondering where you are now!

I must say, I find myself really looking forward to checking for your posts everyday to see how your trip is going. Thanks so much for taking us along!

I am about to get on the phone right now to see if they have any cabanas left for our upcoming trip. I'll be back shortly to let everyone know if I was successful. Cross your fingers for me please!!

Ok - so I'll just fess up right now, so you don't go scrolling through this post. Pictures aren't happening tonight. They off the camera, but they're not uploaded, and I'm on day two of rope drop through fireworks, and I'm dragging.

Tomorrow is a short(er) day - so they'll have to wait until then - but for now, the quick run through (and so I don't forget anything)

1. B'fast at Cindy's. For those who saw my other posts regarding 8am ADRs when it's Morning EMH - it was pretty much the chaos I expected. Don't let me forget to detail the stroller mess!!! More on that later (as in, not tonight). The food and service were fabulous, as always. Q had a good time, the boys tolerated it :rolleyes1

2. Knocked out some of Fantasyland before 10 - Peter Pan, it's a small world (my FAVORITE!!!!! Seriously. Love love love it. :lovestruc), carousel.

3. The other mom and I rode Haunted Mansion (dads and kids ALL chickened out!!), we all rode Big Thunder Mountain and Pirates.

4. Had lunch at Pecos Bill's - taco salad, pleaseandthankyouverymuch - before taking the girls over to BBB. Of **course** I forgot Q's Ariel costume in the room (this morning? Hectic), so she weaseled her way into a new one ("But Mom. Seriously. This is the BLUE DRESS. You know - like from breakfast this morning? This is totally not the same. It's a DRESS. The other is her mermaid legs. This is for HUMAN LEGS." :sad2:)

5. After that, it was Buzz Lightyear (the first time, which I totally did NOT rock), then Carousel of Progress (how can you NOT love the thought of a great big beautiful tomorrow, shining at the end of every day?!?!?), Tomorrowland Transit Authority (what **is it** with this ride?!?! My kids love it), then Space Mountain, then the Motor Speedway (at which time C fulfilled a lifelong dream and rode alone!!), then Space Mountain again, then Buzz Lightyear again (this time, I totally DID rock it, got my 999,999 points AND the button to prove it!!). Then, hoof it over to Jungle Cruise (coming soon, photos of the backside of water!!).

6. Head up to Tony's for dinner, where we encounter an excruciatingly slow and overtly crabby check-in lady, followed by an excruciatingly LONG wait to be seated (which sadly, seems to be par for the course there the last few times we've been). The food, however, was good and the service (once in) was great. **Side Note - another thing I'll need to address is my follow up is how wonderful everyone has been with Q's slightly odd, but still serious, carrot allergy.**

7. Step out of Tony's in time to find very good (not front row good, but still, good) seats for the Electrical Parade.

At this point in time, Q&W are yawning and closing in on crabby beyond repair. So, T takes them back (hellllooooo water taxi!! You so totally rock, man!!) while C and I slide over into fabulous (ie - dead center, straight in front of the flagpole fabulous) spots for the Memories show and Wishes.

Wham bam, thank you ma'am, Wishes is over, we hustle our bustle out, snag the water taxi ( and he snags all three boat trading cards - SCORE! Q&W will be green over *that* in the morning) and we're walking in our room by 10:35.

All told, it was right about 15 hours from the moment we walked out the door to the moment we walked in.

And that, in a nutshell, is why pictures will have to wait.

And personal replies. So mostly, I just say "HI!" and "thanks for reading!" to everyone for now.

G'night!

Hey...Where's the pics!! lol.. Don't feel bad about the pics... Its hard enough just getting up and hitting the parks!! Much less taking the entire Disboard with you! Sounds like your having a ball!
:thumbsup2

WOW! Your family is(are??) all super-troopers(insert ABBA tune and lyrics). We have NEVER done rope drop to closing, much less 2 days in a row. We all get crabby and tired of crowds and love the afternoon break by the pool.

Can't wait to see the pics but seriously girl, get some rest! This is vacation:rotfl2:
