Live from the Poly!- May 27 - June 4

So - we're in for the night. T and I have been up for 18 hours, and we're close to turning in. I haven't been in bed before 10 in ages. So, this will be short and sweet.

1. Tuvalu. It's a hike, yes. But, the LV is fabulous, and it's very private. We'll definitely get our exercise in this week getting around, but we're up for the challenge when it means we get the view as the reward.

2. Cabana. If you can swing it, do it. If you book the half day, be prepared to not want to leave! Save yourself the heartache of someone else possibly having the other half, and just book the whole day from the start :thumbsup2

3. Not to fuel the Lapu Lapu debate, but I had forgotten how potent those bad boys can be. I am determined to work my way up to more than one, but today, that was enough. I switched to my frou frou Disney drink of choice - the Pina Colava. Love 'em on DCL, love 'em at the resort. Love 'em a LOT when Heather is bringing them to me in the cabana :rolleyes1

4. I did a jolly old piss poor job of photographs today, and all of these will be straight off my camera, with no editing. I'll try to do better from here on out, but don't expect editing :rotfl:

The fruit tray from the cabana. We did NOT manage to eat it all. But we tried:

The view. Honestly - there's been some debate on which has the better view, and it's all the same to me, between the two. We were in Kau, and it was great. I don't think Loa would be any worse, though the view of the pool might not be as great.

A few luau shots:

And:

Had a great time with our friends, whom we don't get to see nearly enough. Then they had to head out to finish packing up b/f they headed to their beach condo. Snagged this shot in between shots of the kids playing on the beach.

And then the storms started to roll in. These are all taken from our patio:

So - that's all from today. Tomorrow brings lunch at Whispering Canyon, possibly miniature golf at Winter Summerland, and dinner with Chef Mickey. The rest is up to chance!

Ok - I lied -

I just finished watching Wishes from our patio (by myself - everyone else is asleep) - and am now content. Could even hear the music from where they pipe it in to the beach.

This is the magical ending I needed to the day.

Now, I can sleep!

Great Live Report, thanks for doing it!:thumbsup2

Sounds like an amazing start to your trip! Beautiful pictures.

For the record, I've never had a Lapu Lapu but I'm planning on it during this trip. I hope they have some sort of wagon to help tote me back to my room ;)

Yes the lapus are very strong! LOl I prefer the pina colava..so yummy. I wonder if I could get them to put my colava in a pineapple? LOL

The perfect ending to a perfect 1st day.

Is the fruit complimentary with the rental of the cabana?

:love:Lovin the live report.

I know what you mean about those Pina Colavas. I lose count how many I have consumed during a week's stay at Poly. Those are so darn tasty! Interestingly enough, in "real" life I don't care for the fru fru drinks. To date, I have yet to try a Lapu Lapu because I can't bear not sippin--ok slurping--my Pina Colavas. They are so tasty I usually get brain freeze.

Wow those storm clouds looked so dark! Hope it didn't storm too long. Have a funtastic day:goodvibes

We've spent the morning lazing around - breakfast at Capt Cooks, exploring the Poly and then the GF. Now we're headed to WL for lunch at Whispering Canyon for lunch, meet friends at Winter Summerland for mini golf.

I won't lie - yesterday was great and very relaxing. Today? Is a little bit of torture - I'm ready to get going. But, the other 4 are having a great time, so I'm trying to chill out. A piña Colava would help my cause. **le sigh**

Love your pictures! The storm pictures look awesome. Glad it was at night when you were back in the room.
Hope you have a wonderful day today! Looking forward to more reports from you! :goodvibes

Loved your pictures! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the cabana so much! We have one reserved for one of our days there too. Can't wait to try a Pina Colava that you all are talking about....sounds good!

Sounds like you're having a magical trip!

The Lapu Lapus are too strong for me but I love the Pina Colavas.

We have a full day cabana rental and I kept going back and forth on whether I should just do a half day. You made me glad I booked the
whole day. So both cabanas are equally good?

Have a great time.

It was a great night - slept soundly. If only the kiddos would understand the concept of sleeping past 5:30. :scared1:

Liking the cabana.......:)

One visit and you'll be **loving** the cabana

:love:YUMM-O:love:
Great Live Report, thanks for doing it!:thumbsup2

It's fun so far! We'll see how frequently I can do it once we're in the parks.

No wagon, but they do have surrey bikes!!:rolleyes1

Hmm - maybe, but I'm not sure that'd taste so great. Pineapply pina colada raspberry mix..... :confused3

The perfect ending to a perfect 1st day.

Is the fruit complimentary with the rental of the cabana?

Yes, it is, as are the sodas and water.

But the brain freeze is worth it....

It was a pretty good storm, but it was over within an hour.

Love your pictures! The storm pictures look awesome. Glad it was at night when you were back in the room.
Hope you have a wonderful day today! Looking forward to more reports from you! :goodvibes

Thanks! Watching that storm roll in was pretty cool.

Can't wait to be there! 28 days!

Hope the (now 27) days pass quickly for you!

Loved your pictures! I'm glad to hear you enjoyed the cabana so much! We have one reserved for one of our days there too. Can't wait to try a Pina Colava that you all are talking about....sounds good!

Sounds like your vacation will be great, too!

We have a full day cabana rental and I kept going back and forth on whether I should just do a half day. You made me glad I booked the whole day. So both cabanas are equally good?

Have a great time.

I don't think you'll be sorry! I do think both are equally good - they're feet away from one another, and the view difference is minimal.

Today's theme was transportation - monorail from Poly to Grand Floridan (I'm on a hunt for the D&B hipster), then, due to monorail issues, boat from GF to MK, then boat from MK to Wilderness Lodge for our lunch at Whispering Canyon.

(Breakfast was at Capt Cook's - Mickey Waffles, Tonga toast and breakfast croissant. - Oh - and the refillable mugs are new style - as of last week, people were still reporting the old style. So, be aware, they're different. Photo another time.)

The kids were WILD today (in that "I know you're having fun but you still have to behave like civilized human beings" kind of way), so in that respect, Whispering Canyon was a good fit. C was a little over the top (and by little, of course, I mean WAY, but I'm trying not to be so "mean mom").

Regardless, he earned the big fork (which isn't a good thing!!) and was relegated to menu pickup throughout the duration of our meal. Of course, he also found new and unique ways to torture his sister with said fork.

exhibit A:

He also had a bit of a drinking problem:

p901832519-4.jpg

Q batted her eyelashes at the manager and he gave her a Tinkerbell pin, without even having to trade. She batted her eyelashes at Rafael (our server) and he gave her straws:

p575344741-4.jpg

From there, it was a bus to Blizzard Beach and mini-golf. I won (go me! And T is the golfer in the family), but everyone had fun. If you haven't been - it's worth the trip. It's a good time. We played the snow course.

Tee it up!

The theming here is wonderful - better than Fantasia Gardens, IMO.

My hockey players thought this hole was the best!

p902866885-4.jpg

And where else can you catch Santa at WDW any time of year?

p115877060-4.jpg

We ended the night with dinner at Chef Mickey's. We're not big fans of "workaraunts", and CM's is a madhouse, but the kids love it and have fun, so we deal. I'm glad it's over, though :cool1:

Q and Minnie are, quite literally, cut from the same cloth:

p18826674-4.jpg

Back in the room in time to catch the water pageant - and now the kids are crashed. So, it's off to the shower for me, then Wishes, then bed.

Tomorrow brings DHS and Star Wars Weekend. Lord, give me strength!!!

Night, all!

OMG, that giant fork is hysterical! :rotfl2: I've been to Whispering Canyon many times, but haven't seen that before.

Cute kids, great photos, and I'm enjoying your report very much. Thanks for taking the time to share your trip!

How cute is your daughter!?! Looks like you're all having so much fun!

That fork is too funny. We have WC on our ADR list again this trip.

Thanks - it's a good night time activity - a nice recap for me.

And you've probably not seen the giant fork because you've been surrounded by well behaved children. C was ornery and crabby yesterday - and has thankfully (seemingly) gotten over it.

Thanks - I'm partial to her :goodvibes

Ok - photos uploading now - be back in a bit with today's report!

(And I'm aware that this isn't terribly funny or cute - I'm just doing the down and dirty facts )

It looked like your DS and DD had a lot of fun at WCC. The prize goes to your DS for the biggest fork and drink I have ever seen.

Never been to mini golf but just recently seen pics of the Fantasia course and I think your are right the themeing is better at Winter Summerland, more unique.

Seems you had a very full day from start to finish, can not wait to read all about your day at DHS and star wars weekend
