Live from the Magic!

Very chilly this a.m., more overcast than yesterday. For us we call it blue jeans and polar fleece weather. Not sure what temperature is but definately chillier than yesterday. Seas in my opinion still very calm, way better than any of the seas on the 8 caribbean cruises we took last year.

The chilly/windy weather doesn't seem to bother my kids at all. They still spent 3 hours yesterday in the Goofy pool and hot tub and are still getting a vacation tan from pool time.

Lots of activities during sea days. Movies seem to be running all the time in the Buena Vista Theater. Yesterday there was a special presentation in the Walt Disney Theater (adult only) about the Disney Dream :) Love hearing about the new ship.

Kids Sleepover in the Lab/Club is tonight.

In addition to the standard character breakfast and usual kids tea, there is the Princess at Sea Tea held in Lumieres (date based on dining rotation).

Today there is an activitiy where we can go participate in making a mural with Ducky Williams which will be placed in a childrens hospital in Barcelona.

Lots of "tastings" listed in the navigator for different types of wines/beers, etc.

Game shows seem to be held more frequently and there is lots of availability for spa/Palo, etc.

There was a lecture about the history of Transatlantic cruises.

In addition to Ducky Williams regular seminar you can sign up for a special class that you pay for. Haven't checked out the details but someone told me it's 40 dollars for 10 minutes. Will try and find out more info.

Gift shop of course has transatlantic logo stuff, some of it dated specifically for our cruise, some of it generic without date (thinking maybe that stuff will be used for both TA cruises).

Every time we walk by the rebooking desk, there is a line a mile long, which surprises me with it being a two week cruise.

When we walk by the computer/internet area, that too seems to be pretty full.

I think there are 1900 total passengers on board.

We are halfway through our 6 hour time change and not tired or cranky yet :)

We are platinum and today is the special behind the scenes galley tour. We've already done the castaway stingray and theater ones so it's nice they've added another option, and really looking forward to it.

The days are going by very quickly and I am so glad we are on this cruise (we are staying on for the MED after this).

All those activities sound super, and the whole pace and feel seems relaxed and fun. What a wonderful way to cross the Atlantic! So happy for you for the experience.:thumbsup2

Sounds like you're having a great time! :)

Have you seen much (or any) other sea traffic?

On the TA in 2007 I think we saw 2 other ships on one day and nothing else for the rest of the trip. Its a big Ocean so I would expect it to be very very low!

Sounds great! So looking forward to going on our canal cruise. Still contemplating the WBTA for our 10 year or the Dream.

For those of you on the EBTA cruise...

I read in some of the 2007 navigators for the med cruise that DCL set an exchange rate for currency exchange on the ship. Are they doing that for your cruise? If so, what is the rate they are giving?

I haven't checked out the various monies yet. I brought some of my own, changed at my bank. I don't think I'll exchange any more.

Wow! That would be great if it's the same price as on the 7nt cruises. If you happen by Shutters and can confirm that's the price, or see it in the navigator, I'd be most appreciative!

Grlzmom is right, it is $400.

I heard there is a new DCL Dooney and Bourke bag that is made especially for the Med cruises. Can you tell me if they are on board and if so would you mind taking a picture and post when you return? Thanks for the updates. I love reading them every day. Enjoy the rest of your cruise!

I did see the Dooney and Bourke bags they are selling but I don't think they're for the Med cruises. The ones I saw were the black background with colored Mickey heads posted on another thread. But if I think about it when I go by the store I'll look again and take pics.

I'm curious to know what kind of activities they have for all the days at sea to keep everyone engaged and active, especially if it's not warm enough to spend hours in and around the pools. Any chance for an update on that?

Today is the first day I took a really good nap. I think the time changes have finally cought up with me. Every hour of every day seems to have something I want to do. I went to the painting of Ducky's mural this morning. Looks like there will be 60 pieces about 2-2.5 ft square that when hung together will form a mural to go in a (children's?) hospital in Barcelona. I'll post pics later. There are many more tastings than the usual martini, taquila, wine. They have a new mixology one that seemed to go over real well. One of my tablemates went and said it was the best one she has ever done. They have red wine, white wine, cognac. I can't remember them all. I'll post Navigators when I get home and figure out how.

Sounds great! So looking forward to going on our canal cruise. Still contemplating the WBTA for our 10 year or the Dream.

I went down this morning at 0945 (opens at 1000) to the future cruise desk. There were already about 8-10 people sitting in the chairs. I got a pamphlet in my stateroom today so I'll leave a form to have them call me back... I'm too busy to wait too long.

On my way to Palo tonight for the group dinner. The group brunch was yesterday and we saw a very small boat (compared to us) outside the window. That is the only one I've seen so far but I haven't been outside much. Like grlsmom said, it is very chilly today. I think the seas are a bit worse but not bad. I've just noticed more movement today but the report from the bridge says the seas are still moderate, 4-8 ft. I see a few more whitecaps out there today.

Oh I just love reading the daily reports. It brings back such memories of our WBTA in 2007! We loved it!

Marianne

If you can and get to see Ducky can you ask if he is on the canal? I would love to know.

Fingers crossed for those on the Canal Cruise that it is just because his 2011 dates aren't announced yet.

Isn't the canal crossing right over new years?

Just after, January 6th, I have seen him do a part cruise before, might happen, who knows.

My Parents were at the brunch. Did you run into Jim & Vicky (Bekaah)? I posted their picture earlier in this thread.

Thanks for taking the time to post. Have a great rest of your trip!

You know what amazed me about the maps? How many ships are out there at one time.
