Linking Magic Bands

Do I have to link magic bands at the resort upon arrival or can I do it before then? If I call member services, can they do it as well? Last year we stayed at Old Key West and had the front desk link our magic bands to one credit card. Are they still linked and how could I check? Also, since my mom will be coming with us too, I want to get her a magic band and link her up to my credit card. Thanks. =)

Any magic band linked to your profile in My Disney Experience is also linked to any information linked to that same profile - resort, tickets, credit card, etc. Do you currently have a magic band linked to your account that you will use on your upcoming trip? If so, there is really nothing else you need to do. If you go into My Disney Experience and look in your profile, you can see if the credit card you previously used is still attached to your account. If you pre-purchase a magic band through My Disney Experience for your mom, they will link it to her profile prior to your arrival. If you buy one through shopDisney, you can also link it by going to the Magic Band section of My Disney Experience and manually inputting the MB numbers into her profile to link the band. For charging privileges, I would stop at the front desk of your resort and let them know you would like charging privileges for you mom so she can set up a PIN to access the MB payment option.

As above, you can link a MB to her via MDE before you arrive. And if you do online checkin, you can set her PIN during that process. Any charges she makes using her MB and PIN will go onto your account at the hotel and will be charged to the credit card you have on file there. FYI mobile orders for food at QS restaurants and mobile checkout for purchases made at stores are not billed to the resort account - they’re paid separately, but the same CC could be used.

No. That can't be done. Only debit/credit card can be linked to your MDE account. You can use gift cards to pay for virtually everything, but the giftcard has to be swiped/scanned for each transaction.

(Note, that giftcards CAN be used for mobile orders, but the card number still has to be entered for each transaction - it can't be stored within MDE. Most people, myself included, save the GC number in a note on their phone and then copy/paste it when placing a mobile order.)
