Has anyone added on a trip to Legoland to their Disney vaca?

I made the mistake of telling my almost 5 year old lego loving son that I'd take him to Legoland for his birthday in lieu of a party (1, who am I kidding, we'll probably still have a party, 2, maybe I should've thought it through before mentioning it to him - at least I'll get my disney fix, though!)

Has anyone been? Is it a one day thing? Two? (I know they have a water park but we would probably skip that as he doesn't like water slides).

Any tips or tricks?

I haven't but I have a friend who has been there twice and thinks it's overpriced and not fun at all. I'd assume that it's only a one day thing based on that.

If your son loves Legos he will love Legoland! We went for one day on our last Disney trip. For us, one day was plenty. If you do a search you can find several threads with some tips. I might be able to find the plan I made if you are interested, but my son was 10 when we went so our interests may be different. ;) We stayed one step ahead of the crowds (and it wasn't crowded when we went, anyway) and got tons done very early. It was a good thing because it started pouring and ALL rides except one shut down when it rains!

We did Legoland with our 3 yo. She liked it pretty well. It was September, so the waterpark was closed. My husband and I were a bit disappointed, but we came in with very high expectations.

It's definitely a one day park in our opinion. We arrived shortly after noon and were back to Downtown Disney for dinner. FWIW, we were there on a weekday during the school year and the place was dead.

It is definitely a one day park, unless you want to do the water park too for an additional $12. Check the operating hours, they often close at 5. I would recommend getting there at 10 when they open, it is not crowded at all then, or at least when I have been there. We had annual passes last year.

It is not Disney by any means. Sometimes I feel like they are "playing theme park" like children play house. But if you or your child loves legos you will enjoy it. You cannot believe the things they have built and how they move. They just opened a star wars section and it is awesome and I am not particularly a fan.

The park is geared toward kids ages 2-12. There is really not much for younger than 2, even the kiddie rides have height restrictions so you could not go on them with an infant. They have some cute little kids rides, like small monster trucks that my 2 year loves.

There are 3 roller coasters that my grandkids 5-12 love. There are some shows, including 4D ones and a water ski show and a place they can create with Legos. Some rides they have that no place else has is a boat ride that they can actually drive the boats, a driving school where kids 6-12 can drive small cars on streets and have to use the stop signs etc. There is a smaller one for kids 3-5 and they can drive around a circular track by themselves.

All in all, if you are even remotely interested in seeing the Miniland Lego area I say it is worth it. It will be a much slower pace that the Orlando parks. I believe that they have buses that leave the Orlando Premium Outlet mall closet to Disney that were pretty inexpensive. You may want to check into that so you can avoid gas and parking expenses. It is only an easy 45 minute drive from the lake Buena Vista area.
