Leaving the hubbies and kids behind - A May 2010 PTR, TR has begun!

Your list looks great! :cool1:

I don't know if you've ever done the Flights of Wonder show at AK....We had never seen it until last May. We got stopped up outside prior to the show, by a CM talking about the owl she was holding. We decided to go on in and see the show. It was really enjoyable and I was impressed by what the birds can do. The "host" of the show is quite a character, really funny! ---and BTW......

........ I'm scared of birds! :scared1:

Flights of Wonder really is worth the time if you've never seen it. We had always skipped it, but on our last trip, just for the heck of it, we popped in just as a show was starting and really enjoyed it!

What a great Animal Kingdom list!! You guys are going to have such a great time!

Hi Katie!

I still have to start at page one and read through all the posts, but can't wait to hear all about your plans for May! I am counting down to May myself!:goodvibes

I would have to trade one MUST DO for two NOT SO MUCHES. :)
I have done Everest, and I'm good with not doing it again for a long time.
My Everest time would be traded for Flights of Wonder and Conservation Station. That's one of the great things about having such variety - something for every interest and thrill level. :thumbsup2

It is fun to follow along with your plans. By the time you are in the midst of following through with them, the weather will be wonderful again and our own trip will only be a little over a month away. That's such a nice thought.

hey there! i'm in! looks like our dates are overlapping...we're leaving may 3! Haven't read everything yet but can't wait to catch up on your ptr! happy planning!

It's not that I never want to do the show, I just think we will be spending the least amount of time in AK and won't have time for everything and this is low on my priority list for this trip.

I did think your pictures were impressive! Maybe I'll get to it someday.

If possible, I get a little more excited everyday!

HEY :welcome: Glad you found your way over finally (I know we have both been working on C over on her TR ) What are your plans? Will be possibly run into each other?

I can't wait for EE :hyper: How about if I promise to do both of your trades next trip when the boys are with me (because I will not be getting them on EE I suspect!)

:welcome: Yay, another May visitor!!! Feel free to share your plans here with the others who will also be there that week!

Your AK plans look great! I am also very excited about EE. I am a thrill seeker, as are my 3 nephews who are going with us. None of us have ever been to AK and we are spending the least amount of time in that park as well, so I'm really going to have to think about what our MUST-do's are...but I know for sure they will include EE!!! :goodvibes

I love EE! It's seriously one of my very favorite rides in Disney. It's even better at night. :lovestruc My dad, Kailyn, and I all love it.

ITTBAB is something that I do not want to try. Ever. I'm terrified of bugs that sting, and I have an irrational fear of beetles, so I'm not even going to attempt it. FOTLK, on the other hand, is something I am dying to see again!

Subbing. WOW! There are a LOT of dissers that will be there that week! As you pointed out on my PTR, we have exactly the same dates. Maybe we'll see you at AK EMH on the 5th. I really want to get there in time to see the parade! None of us wants to do EE, so other than the Safari, ITTBAB and FOTLK, we're mostly going to enjoy being at AK after dark!

I only got to AK once on our last trip and we got there a little late so the first thing we did was grab FP's for EE. By the time they were good, a thunderstorm hit and it was closed for lightning so I am excited to FINALLY get to go!

I'm a bit uncertain about ITTBAB. I don't know that I will never do it but it's going to have to be the right time/right place situation for me to make it this time unless it's a priority for Beth. LOTLK on the other hand...

Glad you came over to say hi! I hope to hop there in time for the parade on that day too. We'll have to keep an eye out for each other!

Well, I rearranged my schedule and we're going to try to make the meet at La Cava! We'll meet you then!

Ever wonder how to make a kid cry?

Last night I read stories and said goodnight to the boys. Greg went upstairs to do the same then came back down. A few minutes later, Daniel was standing at the top of the stairs wanting me to come up and tuck him in. I was annoyed that this happens every night and when I went up, I said to him "what will you do when I go to Disney for a week? Dad will have to tuck you in each night." :scared:...:headache:...:guilty: WHAT WAS I THINKING?

The tears started "I don't want you to go without me" "I don't want you to leave me". And yes...the guilt began to set in. I KNOW the boys will be fine with Greg, he is a great Dad, he roughouses with them and tickles them (and will probably spoil them a bit with McDonalds and Burger King dinners) but I am the one who cuddles and loves on them and I know they will miss that.

Patrick has come to accept that I am going without him this time and he will get to go next time but Daniel is having a hard time with it and I know I will get bedtime phone calls involving tears and I will feel bad while at the most magical place on Earth...:sad1:

Ahhh...but wait and see how much more they ALL (dh included) appreciate you when you come home! Really!! It'll make the tears and drama worht it, not to mention how great it is to recharge the mommy batteries a bit. Believe me, I know how hard it was. When my kids were little I was a stay-at-home-breast-feeding-co-sleeping-attachment-parenting-mom. I rarely left them for an hour, much less a week, but now they're a bit older and we ALL benefit from mommy down time! (and presents don't hurt either!:rolleyes1)

And yes...the guilt began to set in.

Mother Guilt.....a part of our lives! My friends and I have discussed whether or not men ever have Father Guilt, and we've decided that they don't so much. It must be genetic with us women!

Like kangaand2roos mentioned, it is important for moms to have some time off to recharge. It's just as important for daddys and kids to have some together to have fun and bond, without mom around. :thumbsup2

Oh Katie  don't you just hate Mommy guilt! Try not to let it get you down, you deserve a break to relax and unwind and just enjoy yourself. The boys will be just fine with their dad, and they'll probably enjoy getting to do all the gross guy stuff that we mom's tend to squash!

Just tell them to look forward to the gifts they'll get when you return!

I'm not a mommy yet so I don't know about mommy guilt, but I do know that from talking with other moms that you deserve to have a little "me" time every once in awhile and as already mentioned you will definitely be welcomed home in grand fashion. Sometimes you have to go and have your batteries refreshed and this will be your time to do that...so don't let this get you down too much!

Ohhhhhh they will be fine without you Katie  They will have some quality guy time :goodvibes Wow there are a lot of people going our week aren't there!! We will rule the World! Muhahahhaha:rotfl2:

Tracy

I'm really sorry about the mommy guilt. I can't relate to it, but now that I'm older and have a much different relationship with my mom, I can see and appreciate a LOT more what she has done for us, and understand why she needed to get away sometimes with just her friends, with no hubby and kids. I have really fond memories of it just being Mike, Kailyn, and I with our dad when my mom would take the rare vacation with her friends -- Daniel and Patrick will have those kinds of memories with Greg, too. :goodvibes I hope this doesn't get you down too much!
