Leaving the hubbies and kids behind - A May 2010 PTR, TR has begun!

Oh my gosh! If you're doing the double digit dance today, that mean I am too!! How did I miss that??

Woo Hoo! For double digits!! :cool1::banana::yay::woohoo::dance3::cheer2:

On the favorite souvenir topic - my favorite will be coming up on day 6 of my TR :rolleyes1

But, I also always come home with at least one new Disney Christmas ornament

WOO HOO for Double Digits!
I will dance with you too because.... I am at 99 days too! :rotfl2:

WOO HOO!!

Double Digits!! :dance3::dance3::dance3:

Hmmm....my favorite souvenirs. I really love small Mickey earrings. They give me a touch of Disney on a tough day at work but no one ever notices that they are mickey shaped.

I can't say enough good things about Basin.

I have a kooky pen on my desk at the moment and it makes me smile.

I also love the park cd's. It's great to have Disney music in your car.

Mickey earrings were on my list of other possibilities too. I somehow missed Basin last trip so I am excited to explore. I don't listen to CD's a lot, I'm more of a radio girl but at my old job I listened to DisRadio on the computer a LOT!

YAY for double digits!! And I hope you enjoy Cape May...sounds like a great way to start the morning!!!

Hmmm..My favorite souvies are Disney t-shirts and park CDs!! I love the T-shirts I bought 3 new ones this trip and 1 for Prince P!!!!

I got 3 new shirts and a sweatshirt for Christmas. I keep meaning to post pics of them!

YAY!!! for double digits! Gotta love 'em. The only thing better is single digits!

I hear ya! Unfortunately, single digits are just a glimmer on the horizon!

Yeay for double digits!!!

One thing about the snowglobes -- I don't think you are allowed to put them in your carry-on luggage -- I remember seeing all sorts of signs near the snowglobes at Disney.

Favorite souvenirs? Hmmm...that's a hard one for me. I think I like the things that are Disney-themed in subtle ways, and of course, I always find stuff I love in Animal Kingdom. :goodvibes

I have heard that about snowglobes, I'll hopefully remember when the time comes

YAY double digits!! :dance3:

Pick a pearl is so much fun. I've done it twice with my mom and my sister, both times at the Japan store in Epcot. I can't find a picture of the one I got last year, but I had it set into a ring, and it's so pretty. I wear it every day, even at work (I'm a front-end supervisor in a grocery store), and it has held up amazingly well, even though I've gotten it snagged on things. It is definitely one of my favorite souvenirs. Another favorite are the park CDs -- we have the Wishes CD and 4 Parks, 1 World. Both are on my iPod and both get a LOT of play. Oh, and the reusable mugs are a favorite of mine, too!

I read on a thread that you can find pearl cages on e-bay for a lot less than they cost in Epcot so I may have to go check those out!

You had to know I'd be in favor of any schedule change involving Beach Club and margaritas!! :goodvibes Sounds perfect!

And yeehaw to double digit dancing!! :woohoo::dance3::woohoo:

Gee...I think there is room for one more :rolleyes1

Somehow I KNEW the two of you would be especially excited with me!!

Michelle, can't wait to see your souvie of choice

I'm too jealous to dance for you (just kidding), but I'll spin on my head for your double digits.

We have way more than 99 to go, but when we get there, you'll come and dance or spin on your head for us, right? :)

Earrings are the only kind of jewelry I wear, so I always like finding new Disney ones. That's one of my favorite souvenirs. We also like the beach towels, which we use all the time for everyday tub towels. It's so much happier drying off with a Splash Mountain or Wilderness Lodge towel than just a regular bath towel. :goodvibes My interest in pins is growing, but not to trade - just to represent special places or events from the trips. Kitchen stuff is always fun, too. I have a lot of favorites, I guess.

Basin :thumbsup2

I'm always there dancing with you MeMom!

I'm debating entering into the world of pins. I would start with some off of e-bay then trade based on what I like and not worry about what are considered "good" I'm not sure I want to bother on this trip though, I may wait until the boys are with me next time because they may enjoy trading too

I SO wish I could make that happen but I don't think I can. So I will travel vicariously.

Look at you, MeMom, busting a move!!! :)

:( :sad1:

MeMom's knee must still be sore but that IS quite impressive!

:woohoo: Double Digits!! It'll fly by now!

Let's hope so!

Maybe, but I seem to have quite the headache after doing that all day.

I just get a pin or two or three each trip that represent something new or special we did. I have them on my information board at school, and they bring me instant happiness when I see them. :)

I'm gonna need head surgery next!!!

Double digits!!!! :yay::yay: That is very exciting!!

My favorite souvies are a magnet - we collect a magnet from every place we visit. We have a couple generic WDW ones, so we've started to collect the resort ones now as well. I also like the refillable mugs. In September was the first time I bought 2 Basin bars, upon first use, I have decided at least one bar is a must-have for each trip. They are WONDERFUL.

I have wanted to do the pick-a-pearl, but haven't forked over the cash yet. I think it would be such a lovely item to remind you of the trip! Or another piece of jewelery...the jade in China I would love, but again-haven't forked over the cash. Another thing I've read of people doing is buying a perfume in France, so each time you smell the scent, it would remind you of your trip. :cloud9:

I'm going back and forth on this one. Maybe I'll invest in a few off of e-bay and see what I think. I do like that you get a couple to represent the special memories of each trip!

Magnets...hmmm...another good one

I'm anxious to smell Basin, I've seen plenty of pics so I'm anxious to see what I think up close!

I don't wear perfume so that won't work for me. I saw some really pretty settings on a pick-a-pearl thread so I am really leaning that way right now.

YAY for double digits! And even more YAY because that means I'm at double digits too!!! :goodvibes

:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

YAY for us!!!!!!!!!! I just get more and more excited each day!

There is a pick-a-pearl thread?! :surfweb: Must find....

Did you find it? This is the one I have looked at, you really have to skim for the pictures because there is a LOT of chit-chat!

Last week I received a package in the mail. What was inside? Well it just happened to contain a new book. I ordered the 2010 edition of The Complete Guide to WDW!!! I am loving it! If you haven't seen it, it's a great choice for those of us who are already "in the know". Yes, it contains some of the usual newbie info (resorts, transportation, ticket info, etc) but most of the book really focuses on the attractions. It gives quite a bit of info about their history, their background story and hidden things to look for.

this got me anxious to start thinking about my attractions wish list. Now I should preface this with stating that Beth and I have not had the chance to talk about OUR wants. Instead this is MY list. At some point, we will sit down and come up with something more concrete for us but for the fun of it, here goes!

I’m going to start with DHS because for me this is the easiest park to categorize

Must-Do
  • Toy Story Baby!!!!! Yes, this will be the site of a multiple attraction!
  • Rock n Rollercoaster – I loved the sensation of this ride in the dark and not knowing what was going to happen next
  • Tower of Terror – yep, I am a thrill junkie
  • Beauty and the Beast – this was one I didn’t really know what it was in 2008 and I would never have been able to talk the boys into it anyways but now I must see this one!
  • Muppets – not the best 3-D in Disney but I love these guys and I didn’t really get to enjoy the pre-show before and look around for all the jokes in the queue so I must go back
  • One Man’s Dream – we didn’t plan to do this one in 2008 but wandered in to kill time. What an amazing tribute! We skipped the movie so I’m looking forward to that
  • Block Party Bash – love the music and dancers!
  • Fantasmic – yep, love it too!
  • I also want to be sure to take the time and check out the characters. I was never good at improv and admire anyone who can do it well!
  • Also need to make sure we take some time to wander the back streets for those Disney touches

Would like to do
  • Indiana Jones – missed it last time
  • Star Tours – missed this one too
  • Animation tour – we did the little “show” and looked around but if we have time I would like to try the drawing session
  • Backlot tour – have heard it’s not great but I would like to see it to say I have

Would do if we have extra time
  • Little Mermaid
  • Lights, Motors, Action
  • Great Movie Ride (but I will NOT wait in line for this one again and would like to know the secret for seeing the cowboy scene)

Only if Beth really wants to
  • Playhouse Disney – I loved this with the boys but will skip on this trip and not be upset
  • American Idol – not really my thing. The one exception is if MEK decides to try out on a day we are there!

Will NOT do
  • Sounds Dangerous (is this even still open?)

Did I miss any important things?

The secret for seeing the cowboy scene is not being afraid to ask to see the cowboy scene! Just ask if they are running it that day and if you can see it, they happily obliged me in January and it was FANTASTIC!

The rest of your plans look fantastic!

Isn't fun to make these lists! I've been working on one too, trying to keep Mom in mind. I love RnRc, but I'm not sure she will, I gotta feel her out on that one!!

On the Animation Bldg, if you want to skip the little show with Mushu since you've already seen it, you can. There is another line to the right that is labeled character meet & greets and it allows you to bypass the show.

I really really like The Great Movie Ride so it's on my must do list! But, I'd also love to know if there is some great secret to getting the cowboy. As many times as I've ridden this, I've only gotten the cowboy once. He's better than the gangster IMO!

I have the 2008 and 2009 edition, and it really is a great book. :thumbsup2 There are so many beautiful color pictures. I didn't order the 2010 one since I have the two previous editions. Hopefully it's not too different.

Wow----never thought about requesting to see the cowboy scene. Out of the multiple times we've ridden the GAMR, we've only seen the cowboy scene once. Sometimes, I wonder if I just imagined it.........:rolleyes1

I have the 2008 Complete Guide and still love it! Beautiful pictures and like you said, just full of interesting information about the attractions.

You should definitely try and do Star Tours before the rehab it and change it completely.

Also, the Backlot Tour is not too bad -- it's a nice rest at least.

Oh yes Katie....it would be awesome to see MEK...I think that would be my only motivational factor to get me through the doors....just not an AI fan :confused3

And on that subject....where oh where is MEK??? :)

I really want to draw this time too...can't wait to see how horrid it looks! :rotfl2:

Tracy

TSM is a must-do for us, too! I'm also dying to see Beauty and the Beast, and the animation studio. I'd really like to draw something, too.

The Streetmosphere actors are SO much fun to watch. I love the little shows that they sometimes put on. Some of our favorites are three plumber guys; there's one that we saw a few times named Frederick, and he was hilarious! When we went in 2007, I had the front pieces of my hair dyed a pinkish/magenta color, and when we went to take a picture, he said, "did you dip your hair in the kool-aid? I hate it when I do that!" My dad would be happy just staying there all day and watching the actors.
