I'm quite looking forward to writing this trip report, so I can recall everything that happened :)
Had a really great time and there were only a few things which went wrong.....:goodvibes:goodvibes

People that went:

Me, Sarah: 21, teaching student

Bf Andrew: 22 music student

Day 1:

We stayed in the Kings Cross Royal Scot Travelodge on the Sunday 9th May as our Eurostar was at 6:20am, the room was quite large, basic, but very clean and a bargain for £25 ! The evening before we left some of our friends came and we had dinner in the bar downstairs. The food was nice and not too expensive. There were also 5 or 6 computers in the lobby that you could use.

I wanted to get as much sleep as possible but ended up watching the movie 'Blow' on TV and didn't get to sleep until about 1:30, bf was asleep way before I was.
4am!!!!!!! ouchhhh. the alarm went off but we did not want to move :( lazy students usually....haha, well i'm sure 4am would be a shock to anyone!!
Anyways we dragged ourselves together and went outside........FREEZING COLD!! Even though the station was only a 10 minute walk away we decided to jump in a black cab. Very good idea as it dropped us right outside and only cost £4.50 :)

Checked in, got a coffee and were on our way. :goodvibes

Changing in Lille really is easy, as we were using TGV train after the eurostar we did not have to check in again at Lille. The stop is VERY short however, about 2 minutes so we had to be very quick to get off. We waited half an hour and went onto the double decker TGV to Disney !:goodvibes

Was really relieved to arrive as I'm always so nervous when travelling that something is going to go wrong! Luckily it didn't and we were at the hotel by half 11, dropped our bags there and went into the park :cutie:

Wasn't too busy today, Pirates was a 10 minute wait and was as usual one of my faves :)
We wandered about just looking at everything and taking in the atmosphere until we got hungry and went to Pizza Planet..

I'll review it here and also on the restuarant thread.

Unfortunately Pizza Planet was a big disappointment, it's now 17.95euro for an adult (sorry I don't recall the child price) which includes soft drinks. The food was ok - 3 kinds of pasta, 3 sauces (bolognaise, carbonara and tomato), there was also grated cheese, basic salad and 3 kinds of pizza, desert was custard tart, jelly, chocolate pudding and frozen fruit... so it was just average to me, i don't see how hard it would be to perhaps add a little something else, maybe chips as it does seem a bit expensive.

The thing that REALLY put me off this restaurant was the fact that the pasta sauces were laid out so that the 2 meat sauces were next to the vegetarian one and the vegetarian sauce was full of blobs of meat from where people had dropped it in. I can't see why disney can't just move the veg sauce a bit away from the meat to stop this. secondly and the worst thing was the pizza was NOT labelled. I picked up a peice which on the surface looked like cheese/spinach....i ate the food around it and started to feel really itchy...i thought nothing of it and went to take a bite out of the pizza when i saw a prawn under the cheese....looked closer there was smoked fish under it and a prawn.......im VERY allergic to fish and seafood and ended up having my eczema all flare up down my arms and my lips/tongue swell and i had difficultly swallowing. had to take some piriton and felt very ill :mad:
I know that I should ahve checked closely when picking up the pizza but who really inspects a slice of pizza so closely before putting it on their plate! There were no signs saying what it was :((
Will never be going back there again...............

After that I didn't feel too good so we decided to go back to the Sequoia and see if our room was ready. We got back at just 3pm and it was ready....Very strange when I checked in the man exclaimed 'OHH HAPPY BIRTHDAY!'......it wasn't my birthday?? I didn't really know what to say so just smiled at him haha.....

This was our room in the main building in Sequoia, North wing:

The TV had two English channels: World news and playhouse disney. We watched about the election and a kids program about a spanish handyman and his tools :lmao: that seemed to be on all week on repeat! somehow we both fell asleep for 3 hours! we were so exhausted from no sleep. Felt a lot better after t hat so we had a swim in the pool which was crowded but ok and sat in the steam room....i love that :)

Bf got a macdonalds but I wasn't hungry....zzzzzzzz early night today breakfast was set for 9:30 the next morning...

So our breakfast was set for 9:30, the wake up call was on.........woke up and it was 11:30 !!!?
I have no idea if the wake up call came and i picked the phone up in my sleep or if it never came at all! Either way, we'd missed breakfast :( But felt so much better for having a very long sleep.

We headed into the park at a lesiurely 12:30 !

102_0827.jpg

It was raining and was a really horrible day, though the crowds were a lot less today. We got a fast pass for thunder mountain and tried to get a table in lucky nugget saloon- no chance! the queue was far out of the door and we didn't have a reservation today for any restaurant as we were going to go into Paris but as we woke up so late and it was raining we decided not to.

We decided to go to Fuente del oro. The queue here was ridiculous. We must have waited an hour in what was only a small queue, I really did get frustrated at how slow this was. It seems this was to be a pattern anywhere in not jsut disney, but in all of france....anyways after waiting an hour to get counter service food we discovered there were no tables..... so we sat outside, freezing cold and just under a cover from the rain.
The food itself was ok - I had chicken fajitas which were onions, peppers and a small strip of chicken (which i gave to my bf) and made fajitas with the veg and guacamole, had chips and churros which was some kind of donut which I liked. 12.50 euro for mine and 10.50 for my bfs which was the chilli with no desert, he ate mine anyways

We then rode thunder mountain in the rain....certainly a different experience! I came off with mascara all over my face and looked like i'd been crying :laughing: i thought oh well who cares...!
We went on POTC again to warm up, the queue was short again only 5 minutes and sat next to two children who looked about 5/6 who were by themselves(!) They kept talking to me in a language I couldnt decipher (certainly wasnt french or spanish/italian) so i couldn't really say anything back to them just smile and point at things :rotfl:

then........ugggggh, we decided to go on indiana jones.
The last time I had been on a ride that goes upside down was 10 years ago. It was collossus in Thorpe park and I hated it so much I was in tears! I decided it was time to get over my fear, as I had previously loved rides like that.
It was a walk on, probably as it was still raining pretty badly. This was probably the only reason I got on, I didn't have the chance to get scared by queueing and looking at it!!...........To make it worse, we got the front seats!!!
This was HORRIBLE. Apparently I was screaming the whole way around that I wanted to get off and when the loop came it hurt my neck so much I could hardly move it for 2 days after. Thankfully, it's quite short....as we pulled back to the station it didn't seem to slow down......I thought it was going to go around again so i started screaming 'NOO NO LET ME GET OFF' according to my bf this was a very VERY loud scream and anyone else would have thought something terrible had happened to me....well.. it HAD !:mad::headache:

So now I know that I will never go on an upside down ride ever again!

Phantom manor had a small queue so we went on that, the lift effect still impresses me, the rest of the ride was good and it was nice to have a break from being in the cold and wet.

We were really soaked by now so decided to go back to the hotel, get changed and go to the bar and have a few drinks. I also made a reservation for Beaver Creek.

I had a rendezvous (i think) and my bf a mojito.. I knew it was going to be quite expensive and it really was, these two came to 23.00euro

102_0832.jpg

We ate in Beaver Creek this evening when something similar to what had happened at pizza planet almost happened again.

The starter buffet was mostly labelled as to what each thing was. There was some pasta in sauce which was labelled in English as 'Pasta Salad'. I put a small bit on my plate only to again see a prawn in the pasta...UGH How hard is it to put 'SEAFOOD pasta salad' on the labels???? Other than this, the food was good, I didn't take photos as my battery kept going flat on my camera very quickly (went through two packs!).

Other than this the starter buffet was nice. Salads, cold meats and cheeses. There was also a small area that had chicken nuggets, cordon bleu, mickey potato faces, a few hot veg and pasta and meatballs... we had no idea if we were allowed this or not, but i got a few mickey potatos and my bf had a cordon bleu. the waiter saw and did not say anything.

For main I had something that I cannot remember the name of, but it was the vegetarian option on the half board plus menu. It tasted like mashed cauliflower cheese with garlic stir fried veg and asparagus which was really lovely. Bf had swordfish which he said was very good.

For desert there was a general selection of cakes, pastries, brownies, (no cheesekcake :(, jelly, chocolate pudding, cheeses, yogurt and very tasty little pots of vanilla creme pudding. My bf had a whole bowl of chocolate pudding..........i find this so funny. He doesnt eat the cake, just a kids bowl of chocolate.. hahaaha
This came to 65 euro but we only had to pay 6euro for my small glass of wine, we got a soft drink each too included with the vouchers.

We were very full by now and headed up to the hotel room and watched more about the election..I was really hoping for something Lab/lib dem but it didn't look like it was going to happen :(

Oh, I inspected the minibar to see if there was anything worth having in there and had a huge shock !! a small bottle of gin/vodka/whiskey was 10euros, a packet of crisps was 3.50 euro and sweets were something like 4 euro.....wouldn't be touching that then!

We had breakfast on the Wednesday in Chalet du marionette (sorry if i spelt that wrong!) for 9:45 so we set the wake up call for 7 so we could do the EMH that day, then have breakfast.

Wow this is long! ...Well done if you read it all

The wake up call for 7 definitely did go off.........but that does not mean we got up! Bf lifted the phone up, then put it down again very fast..........:lmao:
We really aren't very good at waking up early. I woke up about 8...oh dear! I got ready and bf still wasn't awake :headache: ..........he finally got up at just after 9 !!
We *just* about made it for our breakfast...almost missed 2 in a row! I would not have been impressed!

There was the usual cold meats (only ham here) croissant, pain au chocolat, jam, bread rolls, cereals, cheese, yogurt and fruit juice. Have to say the breakfast in the hotel was much nicer as there was more selection of meat and cheese, olives, tomatoes, garlic?? not that i can see how thats a breakfast item but i liked putting the tomatoes and cheese the little bread rolls :) in fact I ate 4 of those one morning..........oops, oh well it's holiday right!
This is the only pic I got of the breakfast:

102_0841.jpg

Whilst we were eating a cheeky little bird decided to come and try and eat our food! He really didn't care! He would get really really close and didn't really move much when i tried to move him away......naughty bird!

We then went to get fast passes for Buzz then came back and had a walk around Alice's maze. I love the themeing here and it was hilarious looking at everyones confused expressions.

102_0854.jpg

102_0859.jpg

The sun came out a little bit!

102_0876.jpg

I thought this was really cute !

We then went on the teacups which my bf said did not spin fast enough........well they were fast enough for me and im glad they didn't go any faster !!

We walked over to buzz to use our fast passes and there was a long queue to the fast pass queue :sad2: we joined the back and loads of people just kept pushing in! one woman with two older boys just casually walked into me then just stayed there and shouted to her boys to come join her. I wasn't having that so told her that there was a queue and she needed to join the back like everyone else. she shouted at me in spanish and pushed past me again.......arghh! so rude! we queued for 10 mins for buzz and enjoyed it a lot. we liked the spinny part and kept turning it the whole way. we got lvl 4 i think.

We had decided to go into Paris today, after an early reservation for 1pm at Walts. We weren't too hungry but decided to keep the reservation as we knew it would be really hard to get on later on in the evening.

I'm so so glad we went!! This was the best meal we had here, closely followed by Inventions. Our waiter was lovely and when I asked to sit by the window he cleared a table for us. Initially, when I had wanted to reserve Walts the lady on the phone line had told me you can't see the parade from walts anymore.....well that was a lie!? Even though the parade was not on while we were there, when we watched it it went past walts! hmpf!
The waiter seemed really nervous which made me like him more, he was trying very hard to be nice, which of course he was.
I ordered a glowtini which wasn't what I expected...it was green and in a large glass...not a martini glass? the flashing blue ice cube was a nice novelty and it tasted nice so :cutie:

For starter I had the goats cheese and tomato tart:

102_0886.jpg

my boyfriend had the ham and melon :

102_0888.jpg

sorry i ate a little bit xD
This was delicious, though the tart was rock hard so I just ate the topping

For Main I had the creamy risotto with asparagus and little mushrooms....can't remember what these were called charanelle or something but they were soooo tasty.

102_0889.jpg

bf had the steak which he said was one of the best hes had:

102_0890.jpg

For desert I had the new york cheese cake, which I didn't really have room for but it was far too good to leave....so I managed half of it....wow, why don't they have this in allt he buffets......yum

102_0892.jpg

bf had the pistachio sundae

102_0891.jpg

We saw the new generation parade from the window of Walts too :):

I've written so much so far I think i'll add the trip to Paris we took on the Weds afternoon to another day

Thank u for reading so far :goodvibes

i would be agggghh at 4 am as well lol and i am a mother so well used to early mornings.

i cant believe they have turned the pizza planet into such a rip off after only a few weeks. its definitely not worth 17.95 i would prefer to put an extra fiver to it and go to the plaza gardens.

Great days so far - and I agree Walts is fantastic!

Looking forward to hearing more :goodvibes

Don't know how we managed to miss each other as we seem to have been to all the same places and the same bit of the hotel?!! Although you were on a slightly later time schedule than us I think!! :rotfl:

Wasn't Walts the most fantastic meal though???? I can't wait to go back! :lovestruc

Thanks for the heads up, especially on the food. We are going in a few weeks and it's nice to know what's still good.
:)

Great report, thanks. We'll give Pizza Planet a miss, change it to Plaza Gardens I think. (What sort of food is the buffet there?) Lovely photos also.
Now off to look up my translation for "Queue - Get to the back of it"

After Walts we went into the studios where we wanted to go on Crush. As we arrived people were being turned away and they said that it was broken. We decided to wait a few min as the queue looked quite small. This paid off as after a few min we were let in and the queue was only about 30 mins :)

After my experience on Indiana Jones I was really nervous about this ride! As it started (we were going backwards) I thought i was going to be sick :rotfl: .....It was good, but...I don't think i'm a roller coaster person! I didn't like the pressure/spinning and didn't help myself as I closed my eyes the whole way :scared1:

We decided to go to Paris this afternoon so went to the train station. a metro pass zones 1-5 was 12 euro. It took about 35 mins from Marne la vallee to Chatelet les halles, we thought we would walk from here to the Siene as it didn't look far .........big mistake!!!

We got so lost. That station is huge!!! seemed like we walked around for 45 mins before we finally got out :rotfl: Also........it really smelt and was very dirty in the station. I was quite shocked.... it looked very run down and grimy.

Anyways we finally got out of the station and were in the centre of Paris (i think)....we tried to follow signs/map but failed miserably and must have looked like silly tourists (being from London I see these all the time and I hated the fact that I was now one of them!)

We came across some sort of Cathedral and had a look inside, it was very beautiful and peaceful. There were some amazing pieces of art work displayed around for sale....my silly camera ran out of battery again so i have no pics :(

After wandering for another hour we found the Siene! hurraaaaaaah. We found 'Point Neuf' which was a river tour for 12 euro so thought this was a good way to see all the sights including the Eiffel tower. We got a drink in the bar there...omg, it's even more expensive than Disney! 1 JD and diet coke, 1 corona - 26 euro :scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

The cruise was quite nice, the tour guide was a bit boring but we got to see Notre dame, eiffel, parliament etc so it was worth it.

After the tour we decided we didn't really like Paris (sorry) and wanted to get back to Disney asap! On arriving back we wanted to go to Annettes (about 9pm) but it was packed so we went to macdonalds instead... on the way back to the hotel we tried New york hotels bar. It was about 50c more expensive than Sequoia and they had slightly different cocktails here. Was far less crowded here than in Sequoia bar.

Lesson for the day........don't leave Disney ! ...well, maybe we just had a bad experience but in my opinion London is so much nicer than Paris...as soon as we got into Kings cross it really is spotless in comparison... At lille on the way back there was a huge smashed window with shattered glass all over the place and no-one seemed to care....If that was in London it would have been seen to straight away and borders would have been put up around it etc...
I know I shouldn't compare the two but I can't help it....it just seemed a bti lazy :(

Great report, I look forward to the rest

It's a shame that you didn't like Paris, it's one of my favourite cities! I agree that there are some grubby parts but it's the same in every city. I hope you give it a second chance someday. :)

Thanks for reading everyone. I totally forgot about this report as I have had a crazy few months after this trip......Turns out I fell pregnant whilst we were in Disney....but sadly lost the babies (twins) last month :( I spent a lot of time off work since and i've been thinking about going back to Disney for a treat for both of us to recover from how terrible the last few months have been. We really had a wonderful time and the pregnancy was just the most amazing thing that could have happened, but so sad it ended that way... I guess part of me is hoping it could happen again, with a better outcome this time..who knows :lovestruc

I'd like to add the last few days to our trip though, just so it's complete!

Where was I? Thursday I think? Ah yeah. I don't remember too much now but I do know we queued for BTM for 2 hours because it broke down! I refused to get out of the queue though because I really wanted to ride it again :) We got a fast pass just before starting the queue aswell. Was so funny when we were riding around the fully grown man in front was laughing so hard and loud he was crying and screaming! He had a very unique laugh aswell...couldn't stop laughing the whole time :goodvibes. We got to ride again straight after too as we had the fast pass :)

I think we spent most of the rest of teh day checking out the dragon, some stores, the Mickey brioches (delicious!) and riding pirates, bf went on space mountain. After Indiana Jones I am no longer a roller coaster rider. EVER! He also went on RnR and convinced me to go on nemo again...nope, still hate it!

We had a reservation for Agrabah at 3 so had late lunch there. Yet another rude CM here. As it was a standard restaurant I asked her if I could use my HB plus at face value and get a carafe of wine (it would work out that I got that free if she used them at face value) she said ok fine and gave me the receipt and took my vouchers - no wine on there. Suprisingly no-one ever bought the wine and I had to pay an extra 10euro or something for the wine in the end. Pfft. The food was quite nice. There was hummus, olives, salad, couscous, bread, etc. lots of meats like kebab, spicy chicken, lamb tagine, potato wedges but spicy, sausages, vege stir fry, mushrooms for main.
desert was nice they had crepes with sauce, various cakes and jellies. I rate this 5/10.

I wandered round the park a bit more then went back to the hotel where I recall having about 4 cocktails and falling asleep :)

Final day was horrible. I didn't want to leave :( We had Inventions lunch booked for our last meal.

I got some really cute glasses with tinkerbell on and had them engraved with a little message to my Mum and Grandma for gifts. I got loads of lollipops, cakes, cookies and sweets for my friends too. I didn't really get anything big for myself other than sweets as we had already spent over 500euro and I thought i'd best hold back :( Though there was a lovely tea set that I thought was soo cute!

Inventions was amazing! It was only about an extra 20euro on top of plus vouchers and I had some wine. The selection was great, lots of fish though, prawns, quail eggs, cheese, pates, cold meats, salad. Hot food had the yummy risotto i'd had at walts :) bf tried some mystery meat that wasn't labelled but we thought it must have been quail ...poor little bird! he said it was delicious though :headache: They had kids foods too like smileys, chicken nuggets, pasta, spaghetti. Yummiest coffee cake for desert too. I admit I had 2 plates of desert, though this was my second :confused3

Picture110.jpg

Then we sadly had to go home....nooooooooo :(

essay report!

thanks for finishing your report i really enjoyed reading it.

so sorry to hear about your loss. i wish there was more i could say but big hugs to you

I hadn't read your report but saw it all now it's been updated, thanks so much for doing it :) I really enjoyed reading it.
I'm so sorry for your terrible loss. You are so brave, and definitely deserve a Disney treat. Best of luck trying again :lovestruc

Hi hun, really sorry to read what you've been going through  something as magical as falling pregnant at Disney shouldn't be allowed to end badly :sad2:

I believe that everything happens for a reason and I'm sure that you will have more to celebrate in the future, definitely some more Disney magic needed for you though :wizard: (I can also recommend reflexology if you're "trying")

Thanks for sharing the rest of your trip with us! :goodvibes

Wonderful report

I'm so sorry about your loss, we have been through the same thing (several times) and know the pain is unbearable.
But do keep trying! As Mum to Belle said everything does happen for a reason, i firmly believe this :goodvibes

And yes....you most definately deserve another trip to Disney!!

Much love to you both

Thanks so much everyone, it's lovely to hear some kind words :) We didn't plan it (or I wouldnt have drunk alcohol or gone on some rides) but very much wanted. We will just have to see what the future holds now. I am going to start planning a Christmas trip for us :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc
