Laundry Service...

Laundry

  • Do it yourself at the laundry facilities at the Grand Floridian.

  • Send it to be washed and folded via hotel services, understanding this will be very pricey.

  • Do it on the cruise ship the first day, since it will be quite.

  • Send it out to be cleaned via a third party service that specializes in this for Disney guests.

  • Drive offsite and take it to a local laundry mat.

Ok, so I'm guessing this is the best place to put this question.

In September the boyfriend and I are going on vacation for two weeks. The first part will be at Disney at the Grand Floridian and the second part is a week long cruise (not Disney).

We intend to pack a lot, but considering we are spending two weeks on vacation and we don't like wearing the same outfit without washing it more then one day, we're going to need to do some laundry.

So the question comes up, whats the best way to do the laundry and what is everyone's experience? Please post your poll response and any costs that you may be aware of.

all of the disney resorts have a laundry-i always end up doing laundry because i hate bringing home dirty clothes
i think its about $2 for a load of wash and about the same to dry it-it usually takes 2 cycles for the clothes to be real dry
i try and bring my own detergent and dryer sheets from home and also a big garbage bag or a big canvas bag to carry it all when i go to the laundry
of all the hotels ive stayed at akl had the nicest laundry rooms-they had an extra sitting room with a tv
if you dont have detergent with you they sell it in the laundry room

I send mine out through the hotel, in the Mickey bag. :teeth:

However, I do laundry on a regular basis for 5-6 people who all change clothes at least once a day. I've been doing it a loooong time and I HATE it. Sometimes I think if I have to do one more load I'll shoot myself. :rotfl: It's the chore I hate more than any other.

So, I REFUSE to do any laundry on vacation. I love coming back to the room and finding my clothes all clean and pressed, hanging in the closet. :) :) :)

If you don't mind me asking, how much does it usually cost to have Disney clean a weeks worth of clothes? Considering yours is for more people, the cost is relative, but just a rough estimate would be good.

I regularly do laundry for 6-7 at home so it would be a Disney treat for myself to send some of our laundry out and then come and find it all attended to either to wear again or take home!

sunee, any estimates as to cost or maybe where one could look that up?

Is it per piece or load or what? when DH travels and stays equivalent or better of deluxe (I mean outside Disney of course on buisness) the prices I've seen (when I tag along with him) are not that much more than our local drycleaners?

turn around time? is there a printed list attached to the Mickey bag in the closet?

so enticing! please let us know if someone has $$ info!!

Depends on what you wear and how often you change.

For laundry, not dry cleaning:

t-shirt 4.50
slips 4.50
knit shirt 5.00
shorts 5.00
shirts or blouses 5.50
jammies or nightgowns 6.00
pants 6.50
sweatshirt 7.50
socks, underwear, undershirt, bra or handkerchief 2.00

There is also a mysterious "environmental surcharge."

...the prices go up and this list is about a year old, so it might be different now. I honestly don't look at the totals - I don't wanna know!! :teeth:

The list isn't attached, but it is clipped with the Mickey bag on the same hanger.

I've thrown stuff in there and just filled out my name and room number and not bothered to check each box and total it and they manage to total it on their own...but you can fill in the little boxes and total it all up yourself.

Like all other hotels, you call housekeeping and they come get it and return it. If you're leaving, you just leave it right inside the door and they still pick it up. :)

exactly the prices I've seen off property.

pricey for my crew but what a treat that would be!

And I can see doing this if you got something particularly soiled or stained in the early part of your trip.

Thanks for the info.
