We should arrive at 10:15 pm, two children with us. Since we are too late to use the DME luggage service would you recommend taking a cab or uber, or sticking with DME to POp? Looking at cost vs saving time with tired kids.
The next day we have no plans until 4pm Halloween party however our kids most liekly will not nap in the afternoon before.

Personally I prefer a private car service vs a taxi. I've had many great experinces with Happy Limo and they'll do a free grocery stop if you request it in advance.
I'm not a good passenger with the way cabbies drive. I keep stepping on the invisible brakes and have to close my eyes to get through it.
We've had 9pm arrivals and waited a long time for our DME bus to depart so I wouldn't go that route unless it was a low-budget trip.

I would go with Magical Express. Yes I have to claim the bags myself at the airport carousel but that would be true for a taxi or a car service also.

After a few disappointing experiences, I realized on our last trip that I hate DME. We had a late arrival on our last trip, and after getting our luggage, we sat. And sat. And sat some more on the bus. The kids were exhausted, we were exhausted, it was awful. There were three other families like us, plus us. And we waited forever. Then a HUGE group of teenagers got on the bus (that's apparently who we were waiting for), and filled up the whole bus, and they were loud, screaming, talking all the way to their resort, and were dropped off first. And remember, it was late, so no luggage, so we had to wait for these dozens of teenagers to first load their luggage and then unload it. We've had some really good DME experiences, and some really bad ones. I'm done with luck of the draw, I'm done with being picked up when Disney tells me it's going to pick me up, and then waiting while we make 72 stops on the way back to the airport. On our last trip, we had a rental car on the way back to the airport and it was so simple and easy. I wish I'd realized sooner how easy it is to rent a car at MCO.

I'd get a car service. That way you go grab your bags, and you are on your way. No waiting to board a bus, and then waiting to leave the airport, and no hoping you are the first or second stop. The last time I used DME late at night it was 2 1/2 hours until we were standing at our resort's check in desk. And that is why it was the last time to use DME late at night.

Oh my this sounds awful!!! I forgot the new car services don't do airports, I think that's correct.
So how much will a cab or a service be, on avg? Going to Pop.

Is it a bad idea to go to DME, see if they are close to leaving and if not go find a car?

I don't want to deal with rental car return as we don't have the need for the rest of the trip.

I'm not sure what a cab would cost but here is a link to Happy Limo. The cost depends on what size vehicle you'll want. Consider how much luggage you'll have, not just people. It's been a long time since we needed car seats or booster seats but I think they might charge extra for them.
Another option would be to use the Dishoard's sponsor, FL Tours. Link at the top of this page.

To "go find a car" you will pay top dollar. Most people book a car in advance using a discount code & coupon. These can be found on mousesavers.com
